Huh, forgot about that (although the bonus cards are more "what ifs".) Maybe we do get a non-massive fox creature then, but since the mouse we've seen so far is a 3/3, it'd be a bit weird.

I feel like Bloomburrow may be creatures that are usually small, but everything's actually scaled different.
Like a slightly reverse Segovia. (lol 1/1 krakens)
Anyway, the more important update for today is that more limited reviews and set impressions have been coming out and have vindicated my feeling that Draftsim is dumb, Scurry of Gremlins is not a 2/10 unplayable card, and is actually somewhere between good and a cracked top-end for the energy decks.
My pointless vendetta against a single set reviewer has been vindicated!
I am (un)reasonablly excited for Bloomburrow. I badly want enough Otter creatures in the set to make a kindred commander deck around the creature type or at least want one of the Commander precon decks to be good and/or a strategy I'll like. So far I'm leaning towards the Family Matters (Jeskai colors) deck.
I am going to an MH3 prerelease tonight. It is the first time I've played magic since cutting my budget while unemployed. Set looks like nonsense. I don't even know the full spoiler and may or may not have time to look at it before tonight.

I am gonna be grabbing all the commander decks because it's just so very my jam.

Quick guide:
WUR is energy, ranging from RW aggro to UW fliers to UR midrange value.
BRG is modified, from BG Adapt to BW Modified-Dies to GW Bestow.
URG is Eldrazi, with RG Beats and UG 7+ MV.
UB is Draw-3 matters, with like 6 common/uncommon ways to draw 2 cards in the archetype (plus your draw per turn).
RB is Affinity.
All of the archetypes look pretty well supported and with exciting buildarounds, except personally it feels like the BW archetype might have value but doesn't really seem to have the actual "modified dies" that well supported for how awkward and resource intensive it is.
Huh, forgot about that (although the bonus cards are more "what ifs".) Maybe we do get a non-massive fox creature then, but since the mouse we've seen so far is a 3/3, it'd be a bit weird.
Combat stats aren't strictly based on size, especially when the creature is sentient. That mouse is a 3/3 because she is a badass soldier, not because she's huge.
Also, for Bloomburrow stats are going to be weird anyway. IIRC everything is scaled so that a Bloomburrow Mouse is equivalent to a Human elsewhere*. Which is why the Bear that we've seen is (usually) at least a 6/6 and not a 2/2.
*(We're just gonna ignore the fact that Mice are already 1/1s in regular sets.)
And someone just used juggle the performance on me in ranked. That is some dumb shit. I think their deck was nothing but lands cause they did it 3 times and all I ever got was lands.
Anyway, the more important update for today is that more limited reviews and set impressions have been coming out and have vindicated my feeling that Draftsim is dumb, Scurry of Gremlins is not a 2/10 unplayable card, and is actually somewhere between good and a cracked top-end for the energy decks.

Yeah, when I was reviewing Draftsim's rankings for Wilds yesterday when talking to Sonelan, there were a few headscratchers.
They put Grave Pact as "Basically Unplayable" in a set with Bargain. Three black pips isn't trivial and it can be a trap because it's a splashy-looking mythic that often fails to live up to its potential, but it's far from unplayable. Small examples, too: they had Syr Ginger and Grasp of Fate in the bottom 50% of cards in the set and I was like - in what universe? Or Sleight of Hand above plenty of reasonably-costed if unexciting blue grunts like Tenacious Tomeseeker.
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

I actually don't think those are that terrible, even if mildly questionable, but I'd also point out that I think you're looking at their crowdsourced pick order. They really screw up, IMO, when trying to do format analysis before the sets release.

Yeah, I'm looking at their crowdsourced pick order. They're not as obviously dumb as ranking Scurry as unplayable. They're questionable, not stone cold stupid. That's why I referred to them as headscratchers. You're right about that.
I think the crowdsourced data ends up weighted very heavily along rarity. Tenacious Tomeseeker is a worse-than-average uncommon. Sleight of Hand is a better-than-average common. I just don't think that's a sensible way to order a draft guide. MTGAZone's pick orders just generally seem a little more accurate to me.

Man does it feel good to beat clowns like this.
Dude seemed to try to take advantage of the brawl commander deckweight list....poorly. Then he played blood moon, screwed himself over by doing so, then he ragequit complete with timer scam.

in my bundle I ended up getting both non-foil versions of Coram, the Undertaker, which I'm really happy about because I really liked the collector's edition of that card but the pricing on those are absurd. it's not a surge foil but I don't really care, it's the new face of my new Graveyard Overdrive deck!
I have no idea of the value of the rest of the cards I got with the bundle as I haven't gone through and checked each one yet, I'm still going to a pre-release sealed event later tonight for the prerelease pack, then once I get all those cards I'll finally go through each one, and figure out which ones I want to add to my now three commander decks.
By the way, if y'all save your prerelease decklists I wouldn't mind playing some Arena games against them when the set comes out. Seems like some low stakes fun

I'm very curious about how Bloomburrow's nature affects animalfolk planeswalkers.
Take Angrath for example. If he were to travel to Bloomburrow, how would it affect him? As I see it, there are three possibilities.
He just becomes a lizard, with no indication of his true form being a minotaur. In other words, he is affected exactly the same as a human would be.
He becomes a lizard, but still possesses bovine traits, as as horns, hooves, and a tuft of fur at the end of his tail.
He simply becomes a tiny, cute bull. A one of a kind creature that matches the aesthetic of the plane but isn't one of its native races.
If either of the latter two possibilities are the correct one, then how does the plane affect planeswalkers who are neither humans nor animalfolk. If Oko traveled to Bloomburrow, would he just become a frog, or would he have pointy fins on the side of his head to hint at his true form?
Well that was amusing. My last game my opponent was doing some warden of the inner sky + virtue of loyalty stat stacking but let me stick around long enough for me to steal two of their phyrexian Vindicators and use a spell to kill their warden. Was worth the rage timer wait outs.
Opened eight Landscapes, all of which were partially blue. Too bad my blue was utter trash. No top end to speak of, so decided to just go under. Worked more often than not, going 2-0, 2-0, 1-2.
Other than the obviously good rares, MVP might have been Dreamdrinker Vampire. I had a lot of ways to get extra counters on it or otherwise pump it up, although I did not get to live the dream of using Nesting Grounds with it.
MH3 sealed draft went well. Won 2 matches, lost one so won four packs.
Played Abzan +1 counters matter, which as it turned out was very popular as two of my opponents were also playing it. MVPs were Sylven Safekeeper, Sevinnes Reclamation and Territory Culler.
The new Landscape lands were great, love that they have the cycling cost is the same color pips as the lands it can fetch.

just got back from pre-release! I had a lot of fun with my first sealed pre-release event. I won some rounds but lost my matches, but since it was a casual event they gave everyone who participated a free MH3 booster pack which was nice. I went with Green/Blue/Colorless, but really it was the colorless eldrazi that were doing the most work for me. Wastescape Battlemage had some great synergy going on though and was probably my MVP, though when I would get Dreamtide Whale out early that also put in some good work early game.
I'm thinking I might attend one more either Saturday or Sunday, it was a lot of fun and I'm digging the set so far. I haven't even tried messing with the energy charge counter stuff yet
2-1 tonight. Shilgengar and Ophiomancer did work, lots of removal. Opened the black and white flares, birthing pod enchantment, and Six was in my prizes.
3-0, 6-0 baybeeee. Wincon was counting to 20 on board and playing one of my two ways to stop them from blocking. Hydra Tamer + Chrysalis + the eldrazi artifact is a hell of a pump up the jams combo.
playing one of my two ways to stop them from blocking.
Watching some of the Streamer Early Access event has suggested that this format can generate crazy board stalls. There's a ton of giant things with reach and a million chump blockers. Having access to an effect like this is probably going to be important.
Also, the finish to the last game of the prerelease was incredible.
Match is in turns at 1-1. On Turn 2, one player rips Ulamog off the top, setting themselves up for Annihilator 7; the opponent has 6 lands, an Aether Revolt, and a Thieving Skyclaw on board. Turn 3,the energy player attacks the Eldrazi player down to 2 from the air, but are staring down lethal on the ground. Ulamog attacks, annihilator trigger on the stack, the opponent floats mana, sacs everything but the Thieving Skyclaw, and flashes in Phelia to chump block, then energy cracks in on turn 5 for exactly lethal with one permanent in play.
Did you get to live the dream of Laelia into Amped Raptor?

finally got around to sleeving and sorting all the cards today from the bundle and pre-release pack, I got some nice looking legendary creatures like Herigast, Azlask, Laelia, Coram (already had from the precon though), Imskir Iron-Eater, Six, Grist and Arna Kennerud. I'm guessing Grist is the best out of them (shes one of the five featured on the little insert sheet) and also seems like an obvious add to my graveyard overdrive coram commander deck

Bloomburrow is going very small woodland critters, a fox would be a very large creature, which may kill the Robin Hood vibes.
The Jace bonus card (or whatever those will be called) was clearly a fox, so those exist there.

Foxes are actually pretty small.
They already have otters and raccoons both which tend to be heftier than foxes.
But it may just be a perception thing because people picture otters as smaller than they are and foxes bigger than they are.
