London calling, to the faraway towns

Anyways, I've been accepted to go on a year exchange from my current university to the London School of Economics. Since I know nothing about London and there's some people who post here who live there, which area of London is it in and where's the best place for a student to live. Also, what should I expect to pay for in rent, living expenses, etc. I'd ask in H/A but I figure I'd get more views here.

    I really don't go outside of SE anymore. I like to lurk in the AC and I check out G&T every now and then but the topics are rarely interesting anymore.
