Thank Goodness You're Here! is an absurd comedy slapformer set in the bizarre Northern English town of Barnsworth. As a traveling salesman, take the time to see the sights and meet the locals, who are very eager to give you a series of increasingly odd jobs… 20240801 Thank Goodness You're Here! I’m only just now realising how loud both the Xbox and ps5 are as 4K players. The disc spin is insanely loud. I mustn’t have noticed before cos I usually play movies quite loud. But at like a medium volume the disc drive is extremely noticeable. So shitty.
I wish you could just install your movie so the disc didn’t have to spin the whole time

Tactical Breach Wizards, Steamworld Heist 2 and Dustborn this month, might check out Thank Goodness You're Here. August has most of my most anticipated games this year.
I’m looking forward to playing Kena bridge of spirits on Xbox even tho I beat it on PlayStation
Hopefully that journey to the west souls like is decent, I think that comes out this month
Also I’m a ubi-chump so I’m looking forward to the Star Wars game at the end of the month

Listening to someone talk about Conscript and they describe it as "a world war 1 survival horror game". Which I find bemusing. Cos world war 1 itself is like the definition of survival horror.

Not sure which meaning of bemused you're deploying here, but I think it's meant that WW1 as a setting is modifying the "survival horror" genre. Versus, like, 'space survival horror' or 'WW1 rpg'.
Which, fair, since there are plenty of wartime shooter games that gloss over the human experience in favor of "wow, cool gun" glorified target practice.
Due to somewhat related reasons, I'm generally uncomfortable with shooters in realistic settings. I can't put them fully in the magic circle, especially as they strive for greater fidelity to violence on the human form. It's horror that is not treated as such.
But yeah, 'WW1 survival horror' does seem redundant if you treat the setting as anything more than flavor.

Yeah I'm being facetious. I kind of hate games set in real wars, and especially WW1/2. So I'm probably being snarky for no reason.

As far as I'm aware, there's nothing supernatural or anything in Conscript - the point of the game is that WWI was a horrific and horrifying experience, and it's trying to bring that to light using the specific mechanics and genre tropes of survival horror games
I don't know if I've got to change the playlist I use most, but Modern Warfare 3 loves small maps where the spawns flip regularly. I think maybe two of the games haven't had me spawn looking at a bad guy.
Darkest of Days sends you from Ancient Rome, to the American Civil War, to World War 2 to protect the timestream by absolutely obliterating anything larger than a wristwatch with late 22nd century firepower. This time company is deranged.

August is a good time to harvest RTS and match-3 games, as they tend to become ripe around this time. These are often eaten raw, though some dishes call for steaming or blanching. If you want to save some RTSes or match-3s for the colder seasons, pickling (either brine or vinegar) and making preserves are both common ways of doing so. Drying is another way, but it can be challenging to keep moisture away from the games after they've been dried; this task is easier these days with the advent of re-sealable packages. Dry RTSes in particular tend to lose flavor and texture when dried and re-hydrated (although they keep their nutritional value), so make sure to pair them with something flavorful, like a Big Heads cheat code or a nude mod.

Holy shit
Upon arriving in the 22nd century, a strange man appears, claiming to be the head of the Opposition. (It later transpires that the Opposition is a future version of Kronotek). The man asks Koell if it is wrong to change terrible events that already happened, to which Koell answers yes, because "dark days teach valuable lessons and define who we are". The Man then shoots Koell twice, once in the chest and once in the head. When confronted by Morris and Dexter, he explains that the Welshes and Petrovich were ancestors of scientists who invented a DNA sequencer that can target the genomes defining racial identity. He goes on to explain that this DNA sequencer was stolen and used by less talented Middle Eastern scientists to create a virus that targeted people of European descent. 2 billion died as a result (including eight out of every ten people in North America).
this last bit of racial commentary happens after, somehow, an alt-history massacre at Little Bighorn, a scene in a nazi death camp, the player helping wipe out the population of Pompeii, and a few detours of both-sidesing the american civil war and some weird references to 9/11
despite all this I'm not sure if the game actually has a coherent political message? it just seems to constantly blunder into ideas that require infinitely more consideration and thought than its developers could muster

I mean magazines and newspapers are certainly dead and/or dying. Not sure how you'd argue otherwise.

You fools. You absolute rubes. I've been saying all along that Game Informer is the last anchor the deep state short-selling ghouls were illegally using to prevent my single-stock portfolio from hitting Jupiter. Feel free to congratulate me now, because I won't be posting here this time tomorrow on account of I'm gonna get my mortgage, my wife, and my kids back and we're all going to be doing fuckin' beast level cocaine in Antigua together.
The only thing I'm surprised about is that news sites are reporting GI is shutting down, I'd have otherwise wagered on its destiny hanging around online as an ad-riddled AI regurgitation mill.

Finally a chance to get into my backlog...
After I play through Final Fantasy 8 again...
Got plenty of a backlog with games I'm interested but I just end up going "I want to smash heretics and enjoy the banter between rejects."
