I also kind of wish they had them all speak Chinese the whole time, I guess I understand why they aren't. The camera pan as they're all speaking Chinese into all speaking English was pretty slick but if the tension between people is going to be a plot point then having the two different languages happening would be better!
As with any shows like this I don't want to be too harsh in the first season so I'm wondering how much it grows.
Had a couple laughs but A LOT of jokes just not landing for me and a few parts that were actively pushing me away.
A more rough start for me than say Parks and Rec season one so far.
With that in mind, is this just likely not for me or does it pick up in way that still may turn around for me?
Letterkenny lives and dies on familiarity with the characters and the in-jokes and the recurring bits. I’m not guaranteeing you’ll love it, but if you’re going to, there’s probably going to be a point where it clicks and the show’s tempo starts to work for you. I’d say to get through the first season (especially “Super Soft Birthday”) and see how you feel. Seasons are short and quick.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

I may be off, but from what I recall the first season does a bit of punching down in uncomfortable ways at times. This does improve and I thought it was worth pushing through the first season to get to better stuff.
And yes, at least be sure to watch Super Soft Birthday before giving up on it.

I shouldn't have made assumptions based on the first episode, thanks!

That's exactly the kinda stuff that was feeling bad with a few too many of the jokes but I was trying to keep in mind that it was from a good few years ago and how some others shows of the time were.
So I'm glad to hear the find their footing and get better about that. I'll tough it out into season 2 with that in mind. Thanks!

Season 2 and 3 are much better, in my opinion. We're on season 4 right now and it's kinda weak.
If you haven't but are considering watching Shoresy later, 100% do that, it's great. Fun story, fun characters, just a great production top to bottom.

also has a pretty different vibe than Letterkenny despite a similar approach to pacing and style, so even if you end up not digging Letterkenny you still might enjoy Shoresy
I think Letterkenny builds into pretty good comfort viewing (after/by the end of the first season), but that last season burnt through my goodwill badly enough that I don't see myself ever sitting down to watch it again. Which is a shame, because it used to be one of our "throw it on in the background" shows that caught pretty regular viewing.
Season 12 both doesn't even feel like the same show, and feels like a bad reheat of the show. Like if you had one writer completely doing their own thing with the material, and one original writer completely phoning it in on "hey remember that time we did that other thing", and they both slammed out the whole season the night before shooting when someone realized they needed a script
I'm kinda surprised to be hearing so many good things about Shoresy after the super-out-of-left-field transphobic bullshit in the S2 finale.
It really fucking threw me.
I really enjoyed S1 but after that I really don't want to watch Keeso double-down on it like Chappelle did. Maybe he doesn't in S3, I dunno, not willing to find out.
Hmm OK not really a fan of seeing the final season is so bad it shouldn't be watched... not really a "only watch certain seasons" kinda person.
Starting to be unsure if it's worth the effort. Starts meh, ends bad, has some decent stuff in the middle isn't a ringing endorsement haha.
I’m honestly not sure what’s up with the complaints about the final season. I’m only like 4 episodes in (dipping in very gradually to stretch it out) and it’s seemed totally fine. I don’t know if it totally changes somehow right at the end, but so far it’s just like any other season, imo.
But also, even if it is somehow terrible, that’s still 10 out of 12 seasons that are pretty great.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

Now that I think of it, I rarely recommend people watch some of my favorite comedies with season 1. Often times because there tends to be a few really questionable episodes while they find their footing.

Last night I finished the first season of Star Trek Discovery.
My thoughts:
-- Admiral Katrina Cornwell has the exact energy of a high school principal. Excellent casting.
-- Every outfit for the Terran Empire is fucking DOPE as SHIT. Somebody make that into a Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard faction tomorrow.
-- We got indirect confirmation that Klingons have two dicks!
-- Appreciate the reveal that Gabriel Lorca is a big fan of Rhonda Byrne's The Secret. "Something something destiny, something something fate."
-- Tilly doing whippets with a green-skinned Clint Howard is the highlight of the season, full-stop.
-- Philippa Georgiou being so good at sex that a team of Orion sex workers feel they should pay her is the type of characterization that would get you booed at a D&D game, and I love it
-- Okay, why is the Federation's idea of disguising themselves like "lowlives" seem to translate to dressing like a European rock band?
ALSO? Jesus H. Christ does Michelle Yeoh make that outfit work. I literally screamed in my home when I saw her in it.
Ash Tyler has arrived. You know, classic cool kid energy.
-- In hindsight, ahahaha But you know what, I stand by it!!
Overall I liked it! I think it got better as it went along, right along the same progression the show made with having its Klingons speak more and more English... Hrmmmm... But I am excited to begin the second season next Sunday.

Which is why most of the streaming prestige shows never get a good flow either. Too much time between seasons and not enough episodes in each season for the actors and writers to get the hang of the characters. Like Ahsoka was really rough in the beginning and getting smoother later on. Rosario Dawson didn't have a hang of being Ahsoka until like episode 5.

The main takeaway from Disco season 1 is that snagging Michelle Yeoh is probably one of the greatest casting victories in tv history. She’s never not the coolest, most fun character on screen in any given scene.

I had to look up what you were talking cause I had totally forgotten about it, and probably blocked it out. Yeah that scene sucks a lot. I'm pretty sure nothing like that comes up again.

One of my favorite little moments in all of TV is when David Lee rushes straight into work from his off-hours hobby
It's the sort of perfect little gag you can only do on a show that runs for a hundred episodes. If it happened the fourth or fifth time you met him, it'd be too big a part of his character. But on his twentieth appearance or whatever, four seasons in? It's perfect.
That actually happened this season, and it was excellent.
I love David Lee cause he's the cattiest bitch at Lockhart and Gardner, just ready to throw down and with anyone and everyone at the drop of a hat, but especially if they fuck with his billable hours. His one failing was pitting himself against Eli Gold and both bad bitches dragging themselves down the rankings with the infighting.

I’ve decided I’m going to actually watch every Simpsons episode.
So far I’m on season 11 which still has a few bangers.
I can’t remember what season I completely stopped on but I think it was 17 or 18

The latest episode I remember watching was Sideshow Bob in Italy, which was 17. I do have fondish memories up to around 12, but beyond that it's a blur.

They do it early in the first and second seasons and it rules each time.
Warrior is a fantastic show.

Not as funny, but better overall.
Satans..... hints.....
The Talent Show episode had me crying from laughter. Just full-on 'oh goddammit I gotta pause this I'm missing jokes' laughter.
