I started rewatching Selfie, a one season sitcom with the worst name this side of Cougar Town.
It starred Karen Gillian and John Cho at possibly their most attractive.
Like the show is pretty okay and I remember it getting better but man, these two are very pretty people and they work great together.

Only Murders in the Building is some grade A Television and I'm here for it. I just watched "The Boy From 6B" and it reminded me how much I love episodes that swing for the fences with bold concepts.
Why haven't I seen talk about Slow Horses until a few weeks ago? There'S FOUR seasons already! Which is actually good because I already went through the first two since Friday.
Besides everything what Lamb's got going on I think my favourite moment in season two was River
realising the was no bomb on the plane and for a short moment considering to have the plane shot down anyway
I'm genuinely not sure why there hasn't been more buzz here around slow horses, I've been watching it from day one. In the best tradition of Le Carré, with all that implies.
But it's got 10 Emmy noms, so I guess someone must be paying attention.
Side note: Everytime Will Smith shows up in the credits I'm confused for a second again.
There's a Robert Frost on the production team, it's a show with a lot of double takes in the credits
"Tryin' to stump me, eh?"

I realized this the other night. It’s been true for awhile but I only just thought about the fact that they have now made more episodes of The Simpsons that I haven’t seen than episodes I have seen.

Speaking of, I watched that whole episode and, I haven't seen a new Simpson's episode in a long time, but some of these voices sounded ROUGH.
Gonna finally watch Stranger Things this month. There's 34 episodes so I figure 1 per day, plus an extra one on the weekends, and that will get me done by Halloween.
That said, is there any season or episodes I should just outright skip?

Oh, they've only made 34 episodes in nine years?
Melrose Place managed that in a single year.

Nah, just watch it. It’s good nostalgia bait / turn your brain off TV with some fun performances. Some parts are stronger than others and it’s not amazing or anything, but you should be able to enjoy it.

I think if someone shows interest in watching Stranger Things and you tell them to skip the first season, you may as well just tell them to not watch the show at all
which might be what you're doing, I dunno

I think Stranger Things is pound for pound one of the most excellent original series produced in my lifetime. The needle they had to thread around getting a bunch of great child actors, nailing the period aesthetic, balancing horror for a younger audience while still being pretty gnarly, plus the soundtrack are all just unparalleled.
The second season is the weakest one, but even it is great. It's not a perfect show by any stretch but definitely something that should be lauded imo.

I don't hate Stranger Things, and have found myself enjoying it quite a bit here and there, but (and I say this with every bit of baggage you'd like to infer) it feels like the most JJ Abrams-ass show that JJ Abrams never made.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

Stranger Things would have been better as the anthology series it was originally intended to be.
I don't like Stranger Things a ton, in part because calling it an "original" series feels like a stretch for me personally
I don't think it improves any on the Amblin films it's indebted to. I'd rather just toss one of those on than watch the very expensive, not especially deft fanfiction version

I enjoyed the first season as a Spielberg/Stephen King pastiche, but it definitely isn’t doing anything new.

JJ Abrams did make it, it’s called Super 8.

Stranger Things never got above "novelty" and sat firmly in the "mid tier" league for me. I never even got to the latter seasons.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Stranger Things is weird to me because I don't think I particularly like it, I like most of the actors involved and I like the concepts of some of the ideas in the story, but I feel like the overall writing and execution of those story concepts are not done well. But I've watched every season of it anyway.
I manage to enjoy both stuff that actually came out in the 80s and some new things done in that style. (But not, e.g., Ready Player One; way too many "yikes" about that.)

I watched the first two seasons of Stranger Things, thought they were both quite okay, but then just never got the urge to watch more.
Remember when that one dork tried to sue Stranger Things because he cornered the creators at a cocktail party one time and told them about his show idea, "What if there was a spooky town"
Whenever you see an author or writer or whatever be REAL insistent about "Don't tell me your story pitch," it because of stuff like that

I say this with as much care as possible, but you folks have got to try to move beyond the shadow of Mr. Abrams.
A singular artist who you don't care for shouldn't have this much pull on your creative passions.
JJ Abrams has made a bunch of good stuff. I get the hate for the bad stuff, but not him in general.
I watched the first two episodes of Stranger Things and just did not find it interesting enough to stick with. Felt too much like it just wanted me to hang around because I recognized nerdy stuff the kids were doing.

Netflix is not good at making television shows. Plus the stars all got famous and it’s hard to schedule em all now with how big the cast is.
9 years but only 4 complete seasons with the 5th still in production.

It was overflowing with nostalgia taken from a lot of things I love. The kid actors were all great.
David Harbour ruled.
There wasn’t anything particularly unique about it but it borrowed the right stuff from the right places to keep me very entertained.
Every season I’ve watched since slips further and further away from that.
Granted I don’t think I’ve seen all of season 4.
They did bring in Maya Hawke which was cool and Joe Keery always seems like a treat.
There I said it. I'm so brave!
