Also now that I am cableless I got one of those antennas to get local channels. Thing was $20. Works really well since it is just sitting on a shelf above the TV. Like 40 channels it picks up too. Only really need it for the big three for news and maybe PBS though.
Same. Had my digital antenna about 15+ years now. Gets most stations great, except for the one who's got their tower in another fucking town for some reason (seriously KPTM what the shit you morons).
Lets me watch local news and football and not pay a dime, so I'm happy.

Well, Evil's over. The series finale was a solid hour that pulled together a bunch of the aspects that the show does so well. A real good seemingly demonic/technological crossroads for the central plot point, a clever resolution, fantastic work by the gaggle of daughters, peak Leland being a little shit. And most of all, it ends with exactly the type and degree of closure that Evil has excelled at. Just a show with an incredible amount of confidence in itself and the way it handles its narrative.
Hell of a thing. No notes.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust
The series finale of Evil was absolutely a summation of the journey and it's importance over necessarily any one destination, and I appreciate it for that.
"Go down, kick ass, and set yourselves up as gods, that's our Prime Directive!"
I need to go back to evil. When it first came out I was watching the second episode and the bad guy turning up despite having been proven to tamper with a witness or something (I can’t remember 100%) and seemingly nobody acknowledging it kind of threw me off. I really didn’t like his character, something about the archetype rubbed me the wrong way. Not that that in and of itself was a big enough issue, it just kind of triggered me taking a break and never returning, but given how much everyone likes it I should go back

The thing about Leland is he's a slimy horrible gremlin man and it's the best

I think it helps to understand that while it frequently plays with elements of horror and drama, Evil is fundamentally a comedy, nearly to the point of being a live action cartoon. Interrogating the show’s logic about certain things is like trying to figure out how Wile E Coyote keeps surviving all those terrible mishaps he gets himself into; not only is there no satisfying answer, you’ll enjoy what you’re watching more once you’ve accepted that and met the material on its own terms.
Evil is getting a ton of buzz due to it being on American Netflix now. I'm not going to be surprised at all if it ends up getting a new life.
I think the King's even suspect this given how the series left more than a few good threads to follow up on.
I was describing the vibe of Evil to a friend over some pints and landed on "It has a vibe very similar to Pushing Daisies but flip the whimsy and horror stats for each show".

I keep hearing rumors that this won’t be the actual end of Evil.

Having finished our way through The Umbrella Academy, my partner and I chose a new TV show to watch, digitally, when we're at our respective homes. I successfully sold Netflix's Daredevil to her and we've been slowly making our way through that.
I haven't seen this first season since it premiered but, hey, its still really good!!
I have remarked to her, at the end of the third episode, that "I feel that Wilson Fisk is the scariest being presented in the greater MCU."
Last night we finished the fourth episode and when Fisk rips Anatoly Ranskahov out of the car, to beat him for wrecking his first date with Vanessa, my partner mentioned "Oh, I have fought Kingpin! It's the first fight in the Spider-Man game."
And I calmly replied, "Having not played that game, I guarantee this fight is more violent."

So my partner and I have been watching Survivor, using Pooro's list with the addition of Australia (Australia, Pearl Islands, Cook Islands, China, Micronesia, Tocantins, Samoa, Heroes vs. Villains). And before this, I would've sworn I had never watched much Survivor, maybe an episode here and there, but definitely never finished a season! And then we started Australia and after two episodes I was like, ah I do remember this! I remember who is in the final, even if I don't remember who wins. How odd! I guess I watched a season and forgot! and then it just

We're on season 16/Micronesia and I still recognize these people! I know a decent amount of what happens! I don't know if I marathoned it as a side show while playing video games and working, or what, but I've apparently watched at least 16 seasons of Survivor and completely forgot doing it. Every season we've started, I feel like a Survivor sleeper agent. The first episode I'm always sure that this time I don't recognize anyone (except Denise the lunch lady) and as soon as they get dirty and hungry I'm like oh, this IS a season I've seen. How did I forget watching at least 16 seasons of a show?
This weekend I watched the Monk movie on Peacock and then the first two Psych movies
The Psych movies are pretty delightful, but heartbreaking since Timothy Omundson was dealing with his stroke and recovery. Im gonna try to watch #3 later tonight
The Monk movie I thought was just bad. I really hope they do another so that this isn't the last Monk show that ever gets released.
Earlier this week, I played some SWTOR content that he recently came back to record lines for and... I still love the character, and the actor behind him, but you can tell he's definitely lost a step or two.
Time: it happens to the best of us.

Wife and I have been rewatching the first 4 seasons of ST:Discovery before watching the last one.
Other shows are guilty of this, but ST:D is so egregiously awful and obvious about it that it drives me nuts. To give an original example so as to avoid spoiling anything for anybody.
Tactical crewmember: They're coming around for another shot!
Engineer: WARP CORE WILL BREACH IN 45 SECONDS!
Captain to First Officer: You know, earlier when you betrayed me it really hurt my feelings.
First Officer: Your feelings are valid, I regret my actions.
MORE EXPLOSIONS, CONTINUING EMERGENCY KLAXONS, SCREENSHAKE!
Captain: Let us spend the next 90-180 seconds discussing our feelings
First Officer: Yes, that is the most important thing to be doing right now.
Like, they get less bad about it in later seasons, but only because they do more obfuscating of how imminient disaster is, but at the same time the increase the length of the inappropriately timed conversations.
it's too bad 2 of the 4 main stars turned out to be turds, but as far as the actual show content goes I'd say most of it still holds up really well (barring a few crappy of-the-time jokes/scenarios here and there)

I just assume that every celebrity is a deeply flawed person capable of horrible choices. Then there's nothing to disappoint you when the terrible truth comes out.
Also I really liked Ted Lasso's second season. I mean that third season is a real bad time (tm). But the second one was pretty great overall.
enough of you said good things about Evil that I decided to give it a whirl
I'm still in episode 1 and I'm digging it so far. but I have one extremely minor niggle just come up. the lead puts a written sign on the ceiling above her head so she can tell if she's dreaming - if she can't read it she must be dreaming, because you can't read things in your dreams. and apparently this is a pretty common belief. but I can 100% read in my dreams, I do it all the time! I can't be the only one so how come this is such a common belief?
anyway other than that I'm having fun with it so far

I think it is belief based. You believe you can read in your dreams so you can. Kristin fully believes she cannot so it works for her and tells her it is a dream.

Okay, so, you're just going to have to roll with a lot of the imagery and symbolism in the show.
oh yeah I'm totally fine with it in the show, but I've definitely heard people say that as a rule you can't read in your dreams
why yes I do get mildly annoyed by totally inconsequential things, why do you ask?
also the "can't tell time in dreams", I don't know where that one came from.
the other one I've heard is "if the clock radically changes time between glances then you're in a dream" but at that point we're getting down to a pretty small percentage of dreams available in which to test that scenario. Maybe other people dream about clocks a lot, idk.

Warner Bros. Television has started picking up options on Ted Lasso cast members to pave the way for making a 4th season in early 2025.
It probably can't be worse than season 3? Maybe?
Ted Lasso and Sleepy Hollow are my favorite 1-season shows that never had any other seasons ever.
What about the promised Neverland?
Now watching the Pitt and Jolie movie for the first time, it's very fun! Lots of good little visual gags.

Five's actor continues to be astoundingly good for his age.
I'm now 39 and I haven't seen an episode since my twenties.
Just, I finally understand why this show was so popular.

The best part is the seconds leading up to this where you see George mentally going through excuses before settling on this one.
