Looking for a good, cheap MP3 player... need advice

My fiancee just got a job which involves working overnight one night a week. Because she won't be dealing with customers, she can use an MP3 player while she's working (which is awesome). We'd like to get her something cheap, but sturdy. It really only needs to be 1-2gb of space.

We're good with computers, but we're pretty ignorant on this stuff. We've had iPods before, one of which broke, and the other was stolen. We don't want (or need) to spend that much money on a music player again, so cheap = awesome. ;)

I got a 2GB LG UP3# last month and it's been great. It plays mp3s and Ogg Vorbis among other things. It has a little pop-out USB connector rather than a cable, so it plugs in like a thumb drive. It also has an OLED display for extra l33+ points.

My only complaint is that it came preloaded with a trojan, but I got it from Fry's so it may have been a stealth return or something.

Anyway, for $70 I didn't see anything even as good, let alone better.

I'm not finding any LG MP3 players from the usual suspects (Newegg, Worst Buy, Circuit City)... any idea where else I could grab one?

Edit: also, she thinks that Zen Stone is pretty hot, thanks. ;)

try the Sandisk Sansa series, they have an LCD and are real easy to use. You can even put videos or TV shows on them to watch

    2GB and <$100 at amazon.

It has tons of features and the reviews are almost all positive. I'm planning on getting the 8GB model myself in a couple of weeks.

The online version of Fry's has it for the same price as their stores:

yes, you can technically put video on them, but don't. it's crap and not worth it. they are excellent music players though. I have one i use for working out, and it's a lovely little device.

Is it realistic to be searching for a flash-based 4 gig for $100 or less?

I want something tiny and solid state to carry on me, since my old ipod has been designated as my car jukebox.

I doubt it, unless you buy used. The cheapest NewEgg has 4GB players for is about $120.
