You sit down at a diner that will serve breakfast 24/7. You give your drink order and while you wait you peruse the selection of condiment packets on offer in the black plastic rack with four compartments.

In one compartment is PB the second strawberry, the third grape. What rounds out the 4th slot?

    jam > jelly

I'll be honest, I did not even notice the question of it being on a PB sammy, I thought it was pure thought experiment.

Grape jelly is certainly broadly tradish. But I'm more likely to go with blackberry jam or honey.

Jelly is acceptable but I'm almost always going to prefer the texture and available fruits of jam. Or apple butter.

out of desperation i once had peanut butter and quince paste; wouldn't recommend.

however, a cream cheese and strawberry jam sandwich is very good.

I kinda think grape jelly just sucks. I'd prefer apple jelly, or honey for generally sweet things to go in toast/biscuits.

I will always take a jam over a jelly, give me fruit bits, I need to chew.

A am getting very interested in preservation methods I was going to plant some fruit trees and berry bushes this fall before I accidentally ripped out a gigantic deck and have construction debris strewn about my would-be orchard

All I can think about looking at this thread is the anecdote about a Live Q&A with the Penny Arcade guys getting asked "what's the difference between jelly and jam"

I've been using this prickly pear jelly made locally for PB&J sandwiches for so long I'd forgotten about strawberry and grape.

You're very close to a joke option larlar answer that actually works! I bet that is delicious.

One of my nephews makes a bunch of grape jelly and always gives us a few jars, so Id go with that if I weren't a habitual joke option larlar voter

But for real, I love jellies and jams of all sorts. My Nana did love to make strawberry jam though, and when she did she'd make a fuckin ton of it and jar it and freeze it. It was amazing on sammies and stuff but I would sometimes just open up a jar and eat it with a spoon.
