Alrighty I'd like to make a slide show of photos that look nice and happy on an SD TV. I'm using iMovie and I just want to know if there's any way of knowing without actually having the TV model on hand what resolution and DPI to use?

    SDTV is 640x480, interlaced.

Not accurate, but that is the best resolution to use.

NTSC is analog and doesn't have a fixed pixel resolution as digital signals have - the image is made up of 525 interlaced lines. The detail in the lines is dependant on the bandwidth available and quality of the both the transmitter and receiver...

But yes - for full frame images on SD TV - 640x480 is the resolution to use.
