Waffles are so much better than pancakes

Bad waffles are much worse than bad pancakes and it's much easier to make a decent pancake

I'm also a pancake defender, but I broadly don't particularly want sweet waffles or sweet pancakes, and I find pancakes are generally the more acceptable of the two

Pancakes are all over the world, while waffles are not, ergo, pancakes are better.

I will agree a bad pancake is better than a bad waffle because waffles have expectations.

All pancakes have to do is lay there and be soft and chewy-ish.

if you're making chewy pancakes i've found your problem

This is specious reasoning at best!

okay, Ill try to be better.
Waffles are the cybertrucks of the pancake world.

yeah the best waffle is better than the best pancake, but I can deal with a mediocre pancake while a mediocre waffle is always a letdown

Far superior to both, naturally. I just had chicken/brie/mushroom filled crepes for dinner the other night. And I'll easily prefer a sweet crepe even to a sweet waffle or pancake.

If I'm feeling something sweet for Breakfast and I have time and a choice, it's gonna be French Toast every time (a chocolate glaze donut if I'm traveling). Pancakes are something that happens accidentally at a Diner as a happy coincidence, and (pumpkin-spice) Waffles are something my wife makes us for dinner twice in October

9 times out of 10 I'm going savoury over sweet for Breakfast, though: have to be in a certain rare mood to crave sugar over salt in the mornings

Edit- Except for fruit, though. Some cantaloupe or strawberry, maybe kiwi with my scrambled eggs and chicken fried steak? Muah

Back when I thought I had to impress girls with cookery rather than *gestures grandly at self* I made a hell of a pancake with ricotta and lemon zest. Pretty sure I got the recipe out of a weirdly comprehensive cookbook that my best friend bought for three dollars off the bargain rack as a joke graduation present.

Those pancakes, along with the same book's one-pot overnight cheesecake and double-fried french fries convinced a lot of people that I could cook long before I could actually cook.

I made pancakes last night but the recipe made way too many being a single person but I tried to eat them all anyway but failed halfway through.

Good news! Last time I went to the grocery store, the good eggs were back in stock. Not the regular certified humane pasture-raised ones I usually get, but the organic certified humane pasture-raised ones that I usually don't feel like spending an extra two bucks a carton on.

In memory of the Fried Egg thread, I made 'em fight.

Hilariously, while they jacked up the prices on the horrible awful no-good ghost eggs, the good eggs were the same price they'd always been. So both cartons were on sale next to each other for $9.99 a dozen.

I guess keep a sharp eye out for bargains, this might be a good opportunity to step up your egg game.

Wow that yolk is impressively orange

Organic eggs typically are way more orange, in my experience

    No idea why

Yup! If you're really trying to bump up your price with "cage free" bullshit while still battery farming, you can add carotene supplements to the feed to get similar results. But the cheapest eggs typically go with the cheapest feed. Chickens raised on a lot of outdoor forage have darker orange yolks and a wider variety in yolk color because they build the yolks out of a wider variety of plants and bugs.
