Financial apps

I'm trying to make some sense of my finances.

Specifically, I'm trying to figure out and track what I'm spending my money on.

I don't own a computer, I use apps and my phone.

I guess I'm looking to track what I'm spending money on that isn't bills, food or fuel. I'm also lazy, and scrolling through transactions history on the bank app on my phone sucks, and it's not always obvious what the places even are a week later.

Is there like an app for that?

Do any of these financial apps like interface with my bank's app?

I've been using monarch money since mint went kaput, though i use the web interface more than the mobile app. It can interface with your bank, credit cards, investment firms, etc, and tries to auto-categorize your transactions so you can see yearly and monthly totals, and you can set budgets and notifications if you've gone over $X on gas or restaurants this month, things like that.

There are a few competing apps that do this kind of stuff, there is a summary here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mintuit/comments/17vidx5/comparison_of_mint_alternatives/

There are several that have mobile apps include monarch money, simplifi, credit karma, ynab, rocket money, wealth position, actual budget. A good deal of them are not free also, but often have free trials so you can see if they meet your wants.

Mint is basically Rocket Money now.

Also check if your banking apps have the functionality. I know a few banks have advertised it to help with subscriptions but you can use the features to find other spending.

Fidelity has this functions pity but o tried it and wasn’t thrilled. Monarch money is very good but not free.

can you feel the struggle within?

You Need A Budget is what we've been using for coming up to 20 years now and it's been great. It's not free, but it's been well worth the cost over the years. (caveat: it's a _budgeting_ tool, so it expects to take all your income and all your outgoings and help you plan month-by-month, it's not just a "how much did I spend on gaming" tracker. It takes a little bit of getting used to the first couple of times, but it's super helpful once you understand it).

Trying to use YNAB as well.

Heed what djmichella says - it is for making budget, not expense tracking. So you assign money to either categories - like Groceries - or specific bills like Electric.
