There are also services out there that handle verifying the age of the end user without exposing their PII to us. It could be a thing we consider doing if this becomes something that matters at our scale.

What if you just put up those drop-down menus so I can set my birthdate to 1900-01-01 like I do for everything else?

Ooh, I just thought the post was a general "Australia is changing it's sign-up requirements"
We'll have to take that into account, I'm pretty sure we have a few Aussies, and I don't want to close anything off for them. Besides, having more sounds fun.
If we don't follow their rules, we can't have their forumers, and I want their forumers, so it's an easy calculation.
There's just not something actionable quite yet. And with any luck, XenForo will solve it.
But if not, we'll do it.
Have a little upside down checkbox with "If you can read this, you're from Australia and need to promise us you're 16+"

    Yeah, this is correct.
Aus wants all Australian posters age verified according to this new legislation, so a quick "Are you 16+? Nah, Yeah. Yeah, Nah." checkbox is likely necessary if this passes.

Okay but the options should absolutely be "No yeah" and "Yeah nah"

(they absolutely should not be this)

maybe the real panopticon was the friends we made along the way

So the Aus Social Media 16- Ban has passed both chambers of government, and will become law as soon as the king stamps it:
    https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/search/display/display.w3p;query=Id:"legislation/billhome/r7284"

As far as I can see, there's only been minor changes to the bill throughout the process, aside an increase in the penalties for keeping age verification information after verifying.

I wondered if there was an update on the filing for incorporation side of things?

The sticky indicates that this was in progress at the start of December. Conscious of course of the time of year so it might be an "after the new year" thing at this point, but just wondered where we were at.

Still in progress, and hopefully we’ll have an update on that in the next few days — there’s been a few hiccups that delayed it longer than we anticipated, unfortunately.

Hell, New Jersey, it said on the letter. Delivered without comment. So be it!

How come? And in what country is this?
