keeping the design portrait oriented can work, but, more than 17 character names are gonna be unreadably squished. also, I don't know about all that empty space next to the avatar. maybe, someone has better layout ideas.

    wj3xdedna24m.png

I like landscape orientation better, there is room for even more than 17 characters, and there's space for an even bigger avatar. Being sideways shouldn't matter for a keychain.

oh yeah, that's a good idea too. Just the logo on the back.

What about adding lenticular effect to the custom side? 🤩
    qm2ecd8lkj5w.gif
Yes, I know the price for the merch would go up, but I think it fits the arcade era style and would give more space for the avatar and name.
Or perhaps it could also be an option for a non-personalised alternative.

I took a stab at adding a sassy slant to @HiT BiT's logo to break up the horizontal lines a bit, but I also really liked the way it looked on @the cheat's keychain with the white outline. Also a slight tweak to the "RETURN" text, thought I'm not married to that exact typeface. And the longer I look the less sure I am I got the return aligned right?

We’ve been using the “OI” part of that logo as our general logo mark / avatar for Coin Return on a bunch of stuff in the interim and I have to say I really like it and I think it’s held up super well.

It so easily grew on me once we had it as little favicon.

Not really a democratic process though, it was just me uploading it to the server and going "job's done"

I saw the update of the reaction icons (Lime, orb, etc) and I wondered if there's discussion of a coin reaction?

alas, one person's "sassy slant" is another "agh, it's not right" *uselessly attempts to straighten*

I feel quite the opposite - I like it ok as the full logo but I *really* don't like it as the OI section. Something about the O itself really doesn't read as a coin to me and so as soon as it's outside of the full logo it looks really out of place. I think it's because there's no clear outer "ridge border"? The inner circle makes sense in the context of this example below, but the part I drew a shitty red box around is the part that's missing that makes me not able to see it as a coin or a token.

so, overall, I really like this. for some reason, though, I don't like the 'C' getting carved up at the bottom.

I also like the extra ridge for the 'O' that HiT BiT added. Could maybe add the ribbing that goes along the edge of a lot of coins...

After looking at this all day I agree about the slant! It wasn't quite accomplishing what I wanted. I do still want to compress it vertically a bit, bump up the visibility of RETURN, and implement the edge groove.

This is a bit of a hatchet job (you don't want to see the photoshop layers) to show what I'm thinking

It would only really be there on merch versions, if this is what we end up with. In practice as a monocolor logo it's not visible

To me, at least, it wouldn't have made a difference. I prefer it straight.

And that other design (pitch) still isn't grabbing me. Sorry.

    38j5l95cbeav.jpg

Not just because it was mine, but I think having the coin at an angle would help without taking away from it being the "O"

I like this a bunch but I feel like the proportions are off. The coin slot is the same size as the returns text, which makes sense on one level as like, the way to make the font work, but I feel like I'm losing what it's supposed to be in the process.

The forum/website itself is "Coin Return". The legal non-profit entity behind the website is "The Coin Return Society"

Drop the "the". Just Coin Return. It's cleaner.

Not to necro too much, but I rather like the way the PA forums look, and I appreciate that it feels a little "dated" compared to newer forums. It's comfortable, and I've always been a sucker for gradients and buttons.
