1. The fact that Penny-Arcade even chose to touch the entire Dragon Age Veilguard issue. Regardless of your personal stance, the discourse surrounding the game has long since devolved past the threshold that holds any interest for Mike and Jerry.
2. The lack of engagement from the forum and community on this thread. I guess its possible the Penny-Arcade's forum is as done with this entire discussion and its creators. But, I would have expected something more than a JRPG comment and pumpkin wordplay.
Or uncool
I don't fucking know, play what you want
I mean it was already in the "why bother giving a shit" camp for me by default since EA still has its grubby mitts on it. No amount of nerdrage online changes that until they sell the IP to someone else or collapse entirely.
Punkin jokes comparatively were going to be far more rewarding for me to invest anything at all into.
These forums as a whole cover a wide range of games and non-game topics. It's going to be a very different place from a community dedicated to the series, Bioware games, or even just RPGs. In the G&T thread, there's been acknowledgement that no entry in the series has been the same.
The big time gap since Inquisition also likely plays a role here. We've had lots of distractions since then. Including a disappointment with ME: Andromeda to dampen expectations.

Does he mean that if some people don't like it because of the trans stuff, then you're obliged to buy it to show that you're pro-trans?
I don't this this has ever been the case. Similarly if a game gets review bombed, you don't have to give it a positive review to cancel it out
I read it more as "a big company made a big game so you have to buy it to keep up or be left behind in the conversation."
But otherwise you’re happy to miss out on a company stuck in the doldrums. You can always pick back up if they get good again later. How many breath of the wild players played every Zelda game?
I think one issue is that there are multiple types of diehard fans of the series and the ones that liked the dark fantasy feudal tone of Origins feel unlikely to see the series return to that. There's not exactly a ton of other options in that game style either. Even the particular type of dark fantasy Origins had may well have fallen out of favor. The writers said that they were heavily inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire (in case the "Ser" honorific wasn't enough of a clue) but that series has lost some of its influence between the lack of new books and the lackluster conclusion of the TV series.
Also, there's how long this one took to make after Inquisition. Doesn't inspire much hope we'll see another installment in the series very soon after this one that might be closer in tone to what some of the fanbase wants.

Yeah, the Dragon Age franchise lost my interest as they shifted the mechanics further away from trad-RPG to action-RPG stuff. Wasn't exactly a fan of how that played out with Mass Effect, so it was this again? Pass. There were (and continue to be) other games I can play that give me what I am looking for in an RPG game. It's not that I dislike action-RPGs either, it's just that it's not what I wanted for this franchise... so they have all been a pass. I really doubt there will be a return to that formula either in tone or mechanics though.
The gameplay preview kind of cemented that this one was a pass for me... idk. I don't really see the point of spending a bunch of time talking about why I don't play/like/am interested in a thing either too, so there's that as well in terms of engagement in the forums (or anywhere else for that matter).
Really..... delete Load, Reload, and Death Magnetic but you are keeping St. Anger?
Well, at least we can agree that Album wasn't worth adding to your collection.
I'm a bit of an iconoclast in that I love their earlier stuff, but also genuinely like Reload. Fuel, The Memory Remains, Low Man's Lyric, Fixxxer....those are all bangers as far as I'm concerned.
