The ZERO NEWS Thread

If you’re anything like me, you need a break from the news today. You don’t want to hear what’s going on about anything that may be happening today.

You need a safe space.

I haven’t talked to @BahamutZERO about this but he’s gonna boot anyone from this thread that tries to talk about current events.

So talk about anything else. Let’s talk about your hobbies or a song you love. Whatever you need to do to avoid going insane on this day where literally NOTHING is happening at all.

Hope this doesn't count as news but

I got a 7 dollar pillow at Walmart and I've been sleeping good last 2 nights

It's raining and I want to make a coffee before I start my day, but I can't do that because I signed up to participate in a research study in the kinesiology department and they don't want me to have any caffeine before metabolic measurements. It'll "invalidate the results" or something. Boo, I say.

so I thought it might be neat to look up what interesting or surprising or fun or non-depressing things happened on this day throughout history, and uh...it's a pretty bleak day all around. don't look it up.

I did see that on this day in 1994, George Foreman became the oldest heavyweight boxing champ of all time. So that's...unoffensive at least!

anyway I don't have much planned. during my ample downtime at work I'm gonna play more of the new Vampire Survivors x Castlevania DLC (there's so much content y'all), then go home and try to put together my computer desk and bedframe which I've been putting off since I moved last week. more likely though is I'll drink a couple beers and play Veilguard the rest of the night

I picked my save in Persona 5 last night because I think I should beat it before I play Metaphor. I'm in November and it's been three years since I last played it. Playing fast and loose with just looking up the right responses to confidants and such though.

Game is good! The persona menu almost made me have a panic attack when I looked at it but it's coming back to me! I turned one of those crazy dlc personas into armor that is OP as fuck apparently

That would be hard as hell to remember the combat nuances you need.

It’s why I never finished Hollow Knight. I got 75% of the way there then got caught up in the coliseum fights. Put it down one day then tried to come back later but being so far in the game without having played recently made combat basically impossible

Hobbies: I got some inlay tools from Lee Valley and have been trying to inlay some walnut into some cherry planks to make a nice little shelved laptop stand for my desk. Cutting the grooves went pretty well but this scraper to get the inlay blanks the right width keeps slipping and so I didn't notice the first blank was a little too thick before I sliced it into stringing. So I used that for one of the grooves that was overwide because that tool slipped... anyhow it's all more difficult than merely shaping the wood so it is a nice challenge but I'd also hoped to be done with this project already. Typing this out I think I need to make something grippy to slide onto the posts that hold the scraper blade... we'll see what I have in the scrap bin, should be some leather or crubber in there.

    Alright George Foreman!

    That guy could punch HARD

I watched the Foreman movie, and weirdly enough, it doesnt do him justice. Just watching regular analysis and archive footage was better than the movie.
And yes, the guy punched really hard, you can see the opponents get stunned when Foreman connects.

Yes, with a quick verbal "boom." You take a man's peko, you deny him his dab, all that is left is to rise up and tear down the walls of Jericho with a ".....not!" -TexiKen

He had a fight where the opponent just kept blocking with his arms and he eventually threw in the towel because he couldn’t take it anymore.

I've got like, a 109% completion in Hollow Knight that will never ever get to 112% because the last 3% are absolute masochist shit in Godhome

It's all stuff that only people who can beat Dark Souls bosses on no-hit runs with their feet on this potato-controller they made while blindfolded can pull off

Also, as part of my job, I had to be at a thesis presentation, with a GREAT topic, relating the santization of queer texts on translation or adaptation, but the thesist just drones on and on about unrelated or barely tangent topics. He crammed all the theory and research on the last 15 min of the presentation and that part was cool.

    Do y'all like egg nog?

I want to make some to age until Xmas time but the booze is expensive. Would need more rum and a bottle of bourbon.

Not to mention a whole lot of eggs

I still do the alton brown recipe

It calls for 3 cups of booze, I sub the cognac for more rum though as I don't care for cognac

The unfun part of egg nog is separating 12 eggs

I've only ever bought eggnog in a carton, maybe I should try making it this year.

Also wife doesn't want to do turkey for our very small thanksgiving this year. Maybe I'll make eggnog.

The George Foreman grill was just a panini press that sucked all the delicious fat juices outta burgs.

I distinctly remember having burgs from a GFG that tasted like a microwaved brick of concrete mix.
