    rpg.net (with xenforo) have an infraction sub-forum that automatically generates a thread for each infraction. They don't allow conversation in there, but that seems to be more rule than mechanic. Each thread duplicates and links back to the actual infraction. It isn't perfect, the threads can be a little meaningless if an infraction doesn't have a post to link back to, but there could be a requirement that the involved mods clarify the details in those cases.

    a central thread for jailings/bans would make sense. i don't think we'd need to necessarily detail every infraction

    it would be cool if threads could display mod voice type interventions in a more accessible way than just being a post in the middle of a thread everyone is expected to have seen

    Just an observation over the last couple of weeks, we went from losing a user almost daily (requesting a deletion of their account) to zero for the last two (?) weeks.

    We're literally proving we can get along. It's kind of inspiring.

    Yeah, I wouldn't draw any conclusions from that at all. A non-trivial amount of people, myself included, won't have any attachment to whether or not their old accounts survive. They just won't make new ones.

    We could elect like 5 to 7 mods by multi candidate ranked choice voting then have them appoint "deputy" mods. If there needs to be a vote on things the elected.mods vote, like perma bans or other policy.

    The appointed mods would be removed and could be reapponted every time a new election is held.

    This could allow a core of elected mods but allow the team to grow or shrink as needed, maybe having appointed mods for specific sub forums or times of day or whatever.

    This way competent mods who are not interested in running or setting policy could be retained but with backing of elected representatives.
