Should this forum now become the "Coin Return Planning Forum"?

I’d say so. We just don’t want to spring that on people before they even had a chance to see the poll results thread.

Hell, New Jersey, it said on the letter. Delivered without comment. So be it!

Do you have a plan to actually get people to look at the poll results? Because I think it is always going to be a surprise to a huge chunk. Not that I am saying we shouldn't try to prepare people. That is always ideal. Just that I am sure there are some forumers currently entirely unaware this space is even going to be going away in May.

It's gonna be like those reports that people were googling stuff like "Where is Joe Biden on the ballot" a few days before the last US Election, and "Can I still change my vote?" a few days after.

Damn local, those are amazing. I have zero artistic talent however i do have a decent 3d printer and will definitely be open to printing some models/whatever of the new forum icon or mascot or whatever for whoever wants one, as long as they pay shipping. I think i voted for post arcade as my first pick and coin return as second but i am happy with the name.

There was a Straw Hat when I was growing up where you went inside and it was like some sort of gothic pizza dungeon. The only light was from a handful of tiny stained glass windows and flickering stained glass chandeliers lacquered in a quarter inch of medieval pizza grease. Local H Jay's designs evoke that spirit in the best way and I am absolutely here for it.

Would you say I had a plethora of pinatas?

Everyone keeps going to pizza hut, but for me it was my dad and I going to the movies in this weird strip mall that had a theater, and an exotic pet store when people still got away with those in the early 90s

I'd get to to go the pet store and see moray eels and pot belly (mini, lol) pigs for sale and pet things, and then I would be given a dollar and have two chances at TRON and one chance at Punch Out

There was a movie theater in the town I was born (or close to it anyways) with a decent arcade but the highlight were these cool neon lights. Sadly this one is closed now
    bvqv4zy3p6iw.jpg

And this was a similar movie theater near my uncle with a badass King Kong/Wizard of Oz theme. I think inside also had a Casablanca mural but I can't find pictures of it
    ufp11z30xkfi.jpg

I tend to associate movies and arcades closely because it was rare to go to Chuck e cheese but the movies was a more common affair

    Plus that carpet, hell yea

H I really need you to keep doing the good work you're doing (artistically and personally) so we can talk vhs stuff on the new place.

I am thinking of putting one of those lending libraries and new community blockbuster things either at my farmstand or at our farmer's market table in the next year or so. We've got a good local library but I need kids to see shit like Baron Munchausen or the Frankie Muniz classic Stay Alive.

I don't see the logo as being any sort of backroom spooky thing. If anything, it's a dive bar type thing.

If you have the bandwidth I’d love to see a version with return set as a word running sideways down the side? Generally stacking type like that is verboten in design rules (though it’s not nearly as unstable here except around the TU construct)

Also the coin reminds me of the CMON logo a lot which isn’t necessarily bad or some unique construct they have cornered but worth considering if we see ourselves also within niche gaming space

Handing out little custom arcade tokens as the awards would be amazing

Took a look at some arcade token designs, and these are some of the stuff I've seen that we could take inspiration of:

    - The words NO CASH VALUE, ARCADE ONLY, or FOR AMUSEMENT ONLY; sometimes these are part of the border around the central icon, and sometimes they are put below the image
    - 888
    - A generic icon (star, crown)
    - A lined letter denoting a fake currency (like $ or ¥, but another letter like Z)
    - The name of the place
    - The headshot of the mascot

    On a separate note:

Can we move/clone this discussion of the design somewhere more visible?

Thinking on it more, beyond just the 2x2 format, it might be that "Coin" is too generic to put on a ... coin. Like yes, it is indeed a coin?

Out of your list, I like these 2 the most:

    - I think the mascot would be cool, either a headshot, or perhaps even the mascot holding a coin as well (kind of like that classic Sonic the Hedgehog pose where he's point a finger at the camera, but it's a coin instead)
    - The fake currency letter. Or alternatively, the initials of the forum CR, slanted/italicized, along with two slashes coming down at an angle, / ,
