Toys from when you were a kid

I am a nostalgia fiend so I often look at toys from my childhood. I've even gone and gotten some again.

This Iceman is one of my favorites of all time. I love translucent plastic.

Here's a McDonald's Spider-Man toy. I played with this for years

I miss playsets. I guess drop tests made them obsolete but I loved them. I had the thundercats base l, the ghostbusters firehouse and the bat cave from the movie

I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

I've been getting back into Beyblades recently, those things rule

Very few sensations that take me back to being a kid quite like getting an attack blade on a good launch

I still have an MMPR megazord that took batteries and had a wired remote to make it move and light up. The bottom of the feet have wheels, but the arms and head can move. That thing has got to be close to 30 years old at this point.

The only toys I’ve really felt an urge to go back for are the Micro Machines Action Fleet line. They were the ideal size and detail to make fly around my living room! The ones for my Star Wars action figures were out of proportion and too big and heavy for my tiny child arms to make do cool Immelmann turns around the table lamps

Also they had some weird ones for other brands. I think the Starship Troopers movie even had some! Oh, I’d probably also go back for some of those bug action figures, those things looked cool as hell

I was actually talking the other day about these old toys I loved as a kid but I can't remember the name of. They were small like Micro Machines but they were little robots or mechs or something? They had almost no articulation at all, maybe the arms could go up and down but that's about it? I don't really know, I just remember there being a lot of them but I only had a tiny handful of them due to living in the country and not getting new toys very often (and usually choosing videogames or Lego over anything else when offered). I don't even remember when this was, I guess maybe early to mid 90s? Gonna go poke around on Google and see if I can find these

The Real Ghostbusters Animated series Fire house, Ecto One Mobile, with the bucket of slime that you would put through the top center of the Firehouse on unsuspecting Peter Venkman two floors below.

The TMNT Turtle Van, Sewer sets.

GI Joe (Parents were like, The Aircraft carrier!? LOL, NOPE. Here is a Cobra Hiss instead for Christmas!") , and figures.

And of course, Transformers. ( Hey , at least said Parents got me the Transformer Decepticon Scorpion Fortress later.)

one of my greatest regrets is selling off my various toys, comic books and card collections to buy other stuff, to then sell and buy other stuff, and eventually having very little stuff left from my childhood

I want all those Nintendo games, GI Joes, and Marvel trading cards back dammit!

My shame is that I threw away my NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, PS2, oXbox, and all of my games, several years back when my wife and I were going through our closets and making space. Didn't even sell or give them away, I just chucked em in the trash.

United States original metal-ass metal Transformers. Had all the main characters, Soundwave and Optimus were great. Had several or all of the Dinobots.
He-Man and his merry band of Masters of The Universe. Had a lot of those over the years. Think I eventually had both castle playsets.

Played with those a lot plus LEGO sets, didn't get into GI Joe. Also a 286 and eventually a 486 desktop computer.

hmm I think the only one of those things I didn't have was whatever dinosaur that is coming out of the main gate - not sure if that's supposed to be a smaller t-rex or something

I can't recall 100% on the tour jeeps on the left, but everything else I had 100%. the big t-rex was the coolest thing ever, it had a recording of the big movie roar and was a fantastic enemy for all my GI Joes to take on

    Yesss it was so cool

The toy store in the mall was having a fire sale and my mom got the t-rex for a song along with the Land Cruiser and the Jeep

Years later the t-rex would have the roar function stuck on all the time so we had to pull the batteries

The smaller T-Rex coming out of the gate is supposed to be a "young" T-Rex. I had that one.

I remember it had a pop-out portion on its side you could take off to reveal muscle and ribs underneath as "battle damage". Didn't roar though. That was reserved for the Big T-Rex.

I had this but I think my parents got it from goodwill, so it did not have a cannon and was missing the trap door thing.

I used it as a bathtub toy and had the knights do sword fights and toss each other into the water

I had a few Zoids, a good number of Transformers, but the big collection was G.I. Joe.

Many of the the vehicles got cut over the years (mostly donated), but the large bulk of the collection got saved and packed into storage by my mother. I didn't even realise until a few years ago when she craked them out for my kids and siblings. They just turned up in the play area of her basement one day.

I'm a sucker for these reissues and remakes of old toys, I grabbed a retro Mikey because as a kid I never had the "regular" turtles toys - by the time I got into TMNT all the toys on shelves had them in crazy outfits like baseball players and magicians

Beside Lego Star Wars action flert were my favorite toys and the Yavin Base was my favorite christmas gift of all time. I still have all my ships and they've started making them again so maybe I'll add to my collection.
