Check out the new Ananta gameplay trailer. Formerly known as codename Project Mugen, Ananta is an upcoming free-to-play open-world RPG from Naked Rain and NetEase Games.
Take on the role of an elite Agent within the A.C.D. (Anti-Chaos Directorate) and embark on an exhilarating adventure through a world that breaks all the rules. Nova City has been plunged into chaos, and it's up to you to overcome paranormal phenomena and the looming threats to humanity, all while trying to find out who you really are. Meet the Ananta characters and get a good look at the sun-soaked coastal hub of Nova City in this latest Ananta trailer.
I'm leery of NetEase, but there's so much insanity in this trailer that I'm still kind of interested.
They changed Project Mugen's name again? That game has been in dev hell for years at this point.

Ars Technica's review for Indiana Jones was posted early and seems pretty positive. The combat is kinda meh, the exploration excellent, and the story is a lot of fun. This is what I wanted to hear and was also afraid to hear because I'm gonna need to add another game to my pile.
It's a bit intimidating because it's just acres of stats at the start, but the combination of perfectly readable rock/paper/scissor unit distinctions and the fact that combat is pretty quick and you have a chance to adjust strategy pretty often has meant it's a lot of fun to hop into. I'm still early days with it but it does seem to have a lot of what can make an RTS fun in the sense that you have these theorycrafted ideas about how if you can just get XYZ onto the field oh boy then you'll be cooking but they keep running into the reality that you're playing against an opponent.
I also just finished Sorry We're Closed and I gotta say it's kinda disappointing. It's incredibly stylish, and does a couple of conceptual things I really love. But ultimately there's just not a lot there beyond blasting some demons for a bit between dialog that doesn't totally cohere into anything significant. It's a story of love, lust, death, betrayal, and abuse told via dialog and staging that I would say is most similar to Frog Detective. Which makes it sound awesome actually. But the point is I just don't think it had a ton to say about love. The characters were too hastily sketched, the dialog was too on-the-nose, and all the style in the world can't save it from being just a pretty good alt-Resident Evil.
Like spoilers but:
There are multiple couples in the game who are one Angel and one Demon. One of these couples is really obviously cartoonishly graphically abusive with the demon cutting the angel in half and such and you can end that relationship because of how it obviously sucks by telling the angel about how the demon doesn't even really like them etc and then you bust out of that boss fight to your friends who are a different angel/demon couple who are nothing but loving and personable and never hurt each other or really even seem to differ from each other much. And the dialog is like "Angels and demons just shouldn't be together! It's wrong! I mean except you two you seem great". I don't know how exactly I would have handled all this, but I'm not sure what the hell it's saying about any of these five characters. Are my pals secretly abusive and I'm just not seeing it? Are all angels and demons basically human-like, a whole spectrum of differences that mean that you can't draw any real conclusions about their inherent nature from just a couple examples? It feels like there's something there but it isn't quite getting to the finish line.
Frustrating! Not sad I played it and I like some of the systems a lot, but not the triumph I was hoping for.

As the early impressions go up I keep becoming less worried about the gameplay and more worried about those minimum performance requirements.
Not sure if I'll actually play it, but it's pretty cool I can grab Marvel Rivals and tell my PC at home to start downloading it, all while I'm on my phone at work.

Interested in giving PoE 2 a spin. Haven't done this type of game since Diablo 2. Either go Monk and Punch Everything or go Witch and let the minions do all the work.

Re Sorry We're Closed
I didn't get any dialogue about angel and demon relations being bad except from that one asshole angel trying to break up cham and dream eater. Everyone else says it's just scary to commit to for some because it means losing their divinity and becoming muggles. Or maybe you got different dialogue from me since you sabotaged that relationship. I didn't really get abusive from that relationship, more like commitment phobic, mostly because chamuel is totally fine after being dismembered, but also because dream eater is terrified of actually hurting him, which is what he thinks becoming human will do.
I think the game's thesis is relationships change people to become two halves of a whole or something along those lines. Michelle got dumped because she gave herself up to try and be what she though her gf wanted, which is bad. You gotta blend the edges a bit, not be absorbed. Which is what the Duchess wants, and why their bullshit will never work.

I definitely got different dialogue due to different choices which does always muddy a narrative game.
But to your point, and I guess this is all spoilers
I guess it just didn’t hit very hard to have every relationship be ‘change: good, but also don’t do so much that it loops back around into being bad’ No one felt enough like they had any interiority for me to care about. Their expressions of titanic unquenchable doomed desire whether human, angel, or demon amounted to ‘I really like my partner even though it seems like a bad idea sometimes’
I don’t think I have particularly difficult heartstrings to pull, but it felt like I had come in 90% of the way into everyone’s story and didn’t get any of the buildup that would make me care. Hell even the premise of demons and angels felt like skipping ahead. You get what these people are going through, they’re demons and angels of the classic sort.
And then the other people cursed by the Duchess are all just a single idea executed with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. I don’t care about any of them despite them all being in my situation. There should be sympathy but it just feels like some disconnected vignettes displaying ‘bad relationship thing this person does’ before acceptable bossfights.
I feel like I’m coming off harsh because I’m focusing on what annoyed me but I did legitimately enjoy it. I just think that after being extremely excited to play it after the demo I didn’t expect to say that it’s just an neat game where you can probably not bother talking to most of the NPCs if you don’t feel like it.

Someone buy me The Thing Remastered, thanks in advance.
Do the mods like, make sure Brolo is online and reacting to things before closing the gaming thread? Imagine if they locked it when he took a vacation and we had to mill about aimlessly for a weekend until somebody created an inferior, game updateless thread.
