Sporcle, Wordle, and other [Daily Games]

Hello everyone,

I've picked up doing daily games like Wordle, and I want to spread the joy and pain. Here are the ones I like to do

Wordle-likes
NYTimes: Wordle
M-W: Quordle: Four Wordles at once
Encyc. Britannica: Octordle: Eight Wordles at once

Categories (link four groups of four things that share a theme)
Connections
Conexo
Categories

Geography/World
Worldle: guess the country based on the outline
Tradle: guess the country based on the exports
Globle: guess the country based on proximity to starting guess
https://flagle.io/: guess the flag
WhenTaken: guess when and where the photos were taken

Misc:
Tightrope: Trivia game, based on Encyclopedia Britannica's entries
Figure: link the colored squares and clear them, kind of like tetris+bejeweled
Subwaydle: If you think you know your way around NYC subways, think again
Dungleon: This one's a little weird but cute. You have to make a lineup of 8bit characters that make sense in a video game (a few party members, a few enemies, some loot or NPCs)
Costcodle: Guess the price

I also try to keep my streak on Sporcle alive. I've been working through this playlist of super-quick crosswords and 15sec trivia. If anyone else has a Sporcle account let me know and we can see each other's scores.

Please let me know if y'all have any good ones to recommend!

The sports ones are devious. There's a hockey grid one that Northernlion does that flabbergasts me every time

I might be able to do one that's football or like 2010s basketball...

The main one I keep up with. I did have a stretch of playing Connections, but some of the categories are too US focused for me to get and some are real fuck you material. "It's sitcoms... Minus a letter!" Fuck you.

I spotted this trivia game online and it's pretty short and cute

I do have a Sporcle account, I’ve been playing for YEARS but they recently kind of ruined it by making it a monthly subscription bullshit thing.

    I am enjoying Real/Fake Bird.

I'm sad at the Pokemon grids I find because I'm only familiar with the first 250. It's a young man's game -.-

Adding onto the Geography dailies, I really really like this one: https://travle.earth/

It's getting from one country to a second one, listing the countries in between. It's really helped me learn African and Central Asian geography.

For today's Octordle I got the Daily, Chill, Extreme, and Rescue, missing the Sequence one by one guess 😔

My strategy is just covering the board with WEARY, PONDS, GUILT as my first three guesses, but I feel like that's kind of like... too dispassionate?

Globle/Worlde have done great work on my knowledge of South American and African geography this year.

Bandle - Music. Guess song with hints that add instruments one by one.

There's a bunch of movie ones I keep up with:

Framed - Guess movie based on single frames.
Acted - Guess movie by cast members.
Movie to Movie - Jump from one movie to another via connected cast members in the shortest path.
Box office game - Guess the top movies of a given week/year using the fewest clues.

Foodguessr - A favourite, guess the origin of a dish based on photo and list of ingredients.

Gamedle - Daily videogame guessing based on pixellated Cover or artwork. It has other modes, but classic and artwork are what I stick to.
Guessthegame - Framed but for games.

You can generate grids with specific parameters in unlimited mode, so you could pick Kanto and Johto and be good, barring some typing retcons

Is the NYT strike over? I haven't played Wordle and the rest in a month or two

I am so mad about this bandable today, for the same reason it pissed me off in trivia like five years ago.
Damn you Kid Rock sampling great songs. Of course I got it wrong guessing Sweet Home Alabama, because it is using Sweet Home Alabama as well as Werewolves of London, because Kid Rock can't make good music on his own. And it's not sampling, he's just using the music.

My mate recently introduced me to Minute Cryptic, which is a single cryptic crossword clue. I wish he hadn't because it makes me mad every time I try to do it.

  • EddyEddy Gengar the Bittersweet Registered User regular
Wow that one's frustrating. I get so irate over crossword clues, because I feel like it's its own linguistic ecosystem. Once you learn some patterns it feels more rote

I believe it is, but I feel like people have moved away from the classic Wordle and Connections anyway (their other Games are so much worse, my gosh) to homebrewed/remixed versions.

However all the knock-off Connections feel more frustrating because they don't have like, the credentials? So when you get a bullshit category you're instantly annoyed at the creator rather than giving it consideration

I mean I think Connections is already bullshit so that's no great loss. I like doing Wordle and Strands mainly

These 15 second Sporcle quizzes are addicting.

And since they’re all movie/tv based so far I’m killing them.

Alright it started off easy but I got crushed by the American Canon

I built one myself back in the day (launched 997 days ago apparently!). It's a bit of a tactics game loosely based on chess but with an elemental triangle. Every day the board and pieces are different.

I enjoy trivia games that are a little more forgiving like this one:

    https://www.sporcle.com/games/MoMosMoProblems/wiki-wormhole-ambrosia-no-thank-you

It's a chain of wikipedia articles

    this is so intimidating...

I'm gonna need one for dummies with only like, one of the three elements (hearts, elements, pieces)

I was playing a lot of Fire Emblem Heroes at the time. Just imagine if they also had special attacks and support abilities!

Puzzmo's really bad chess is fun and frustrating at the same time, have to un-learn a lot of instinctual chess knowledge: https://www.puzzmo.com/game/really-bad-chess

    I would download a car.
