The bourbon or the coworker or both?

First the booze. Then the coworker. Maybe.

I just eyed this ume rice wine (liqueur) that's been sitting in my fridge for months, but I do not want to deal with sulfites on top of my already shit sleep. And the cider is either too spicy or too dry for this salt egg donut I'm having for dessert. Trying to be festive, damnit. *grump* Maybe I'll have a rummage in the liquor cabinets and just have a nightcap. Or spike my tea.

Koval makes a cranberry gin that I sometimes forget about but I was at their distillery a few weeks back so I made sure we had some for festive drinking. I've also never had eggnog but it's been threatened upon me by our upstairs neighbors so maybe that will happen tomorrow?

Was trying to figure out what cocktail I could make with flavored soy milk. Like a White Russian type thing but thinner.

Edit: ended up throwing some whiskey into some powdered milk tea

It is rather tasty and has a nice full body while still feeling softer and rounder. Definitely think we'll do it again, since it's mostly just a time sink rather than being particularly active. Though definitely some lessons learned and wanting to get a better kit to strain it through all in one go rather than having to pour it in the strainer in batches every few hours

Got a smoking kit for Christmas - torch, lid with screen and different wood chips - what's a good whiskey to start with? Seems to be a high rye is the way to go?

My sister got me a whisky infusion kit for Christmas, so I think I am going to have to grab a bottle of Maker's Mark and start experimenting.

But also, because I have been playing a lot of Yakuza lately... I also want to get a bottle of Macallan...

I think as long as you're using a decent bourbon you're good. It basically just adds a nice lingering smoke taste to the other flavors the liquor has.

My wife got me a bottle of Baltimore Spirits Co. Epoch Rye for Christmas, just in time for me to get sick and not be able to taste it right. It's reviewed really well, I'm looking forward to having a clear nose and really giving it a try.
