I wonder how many comic book fans named their dogs "Krypto" out of tribute.

I'm pretty sure that even on Krypton, babies don't have dogs. Babies might live in the same house as a dog. That was Lara's and Jor-El's dog.

    Nothing personal. It's just business.

I think that's basically what Cosmo the Superdog from Marvel is, aside from being a supervillain because Cosmo is, crucially, a good dog.

    They're all good dogs.
If you want a supervillain, send a monkey to space.

wait, how'd Superman have a childhood dog if he was launched from Krypton as a baby...

    He was super precocious?

Superman's age when leaving Krypton has varied over the years. When Krypto was introduced, he didn't leave until he was three.

Also, just saying, due to various comic book bullshit at various points the lived multiple whole lives there, either in the past, in alternate dimensions, in computer simulations, after finding it somehow undestroyed for some reason, or keeping its whole capitol city in a bottle. He may have left as a baby and the world may have been destroyed minutes after he left, but this is comics - none of that stops him from going back any time sales start to slip.

Yup, he's had enough powers and retcons over the years that super-bullshit isn't even a reach for a background. It's basically expected canon.
