Not sure what occurred in 2014
In my focus group testing, while we had a lot of world events like 2016 and COVID explaining posting patterns, there were two forum-level events that shook up posting and active posters both pretty noticeably:
Dickwolves and Gamer Gate
Is it possible to see the reactions of @Netscape ? Just as a curio, as they only ever reacted.
Funny that, the YoY aggregate dataset purged any non-posters, so they're not in it.
I'd have to look at the raws manually.
I gotta say I thought my tenure posting in other sub forums lasted longer than that. Also curious what my received reactions looks like without the various wrestlethreads as that is my entire top 5 I think.
Steam
Always a CF main (PbP RP but post volume is mainly Phalla of course) and Moe's is pretty much Programming Thread.
I have lurked SE++ life threads (job, fashion, love, etc.) and handed out lots of reactions there it seems, my SE++ post counts were when I was actively participating in those threads much more.
End of 2015 I quit my consulting job and quit moonlighting with the startup, founded the startup and was doing that full-time 2016 onward.
I've been doing a lot of other work as well since but with the lack of Phalla I mostly have lurked. These forums still have a big place in my heart, and you can see the PAX forum posting show up back in the day when I hit Seattle up five years in a row and hosted large parties and attended even larger ones.
I still consider this community a big part of me.

Read the wrong way, this puts a somber note on the happy occasion of your return.
Man, 2016, what a year. It really killed off a lot of my internet interactions. I think I might have just went on a pizza/ice-cream/Star Trek/Stargate binge until I felt human enough to interact with the world again.
Nice to see how important this place became to me during the pandemic years and onwards
If this thing captured views I'm pretty sure the bars would be a pretty consistent height over the years though
I didn't realize how much I've dropped off from the early 2010s
I really lurked for two full years before posting, huh
I wonder what game I was into in '18-'19?
I'm fairly sure the bulk of the reactions I sent are from the SE++ webcomics / brolo's games threads, then scattered around other places. I know I follow threads in a bunch of different places, but I didn't realise I spent as much time in h/a as that, that's a bit of a surprise.
I peaked early!
For some reason, I love that "HQ Reception Desk" shows up as a "most posted in"
I wish I could pretend like I didn't remember what happened in 2011.
But I will probably never forget Peak Homestuck.
I can't send a message

pffft everyone knows you just cut that part off the graph before presenting the data!
that did it, thank you!
edit: ha, this is great!
I remember sending @Crippl3 a shoutout in one of the holiday appreciation threads that was just 'thank you for reacting to all of my posts, you're very cool'.
Yeah seems about right.
Here's one of the more opposite extremes for the Y-axis. Never been much of a poster by volume. It looks like my avatar probably hasn't worked in years, I still have the image though!
I'm glad I randomly checked in on this forum recently, I'm watching the plan unfolding for the new forum with great interest!
