I've been trying to get people to do a RHPS night forever but between covid, the theater that does the showing getting renovated, and dressing in underwear being a tid bit nippily in Wisconsin winters, haven't been able to get it together. Hopefully this summer or fall. The showing nearest Halloween is 200% more fun. Though I barely remember most the interactive bits.

I swore that I would love you to the end of time!

So now I'm praying for the end of time
    To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time,
So I can end my time with you!

Is just one of my all time favorite lyrics. It's just such a funny/cynical twist at the end. Also an absurd song to ever get radio airplay(like most his stuff). 9 minute long rock opera about teenage fucking. The radio baseball play by play.

The man made some fun as fuck songs. Did we ever find out what he wouldn't do for love, or did he take it to his grave?

I have, uh, four of them it turns out (the first three and Bat... II). Midnight at the Lost and Found is famously not a great record, but I'm partial to the title track on occasion.

Playing the Castlevania Advance collection on Switch. Just finished Circle of the Moon. Was getting repeatedly murdered by Drac's final form, so I went to look up strategies online. "Just use Thunderbird summon." The fuck is a summon? "You have to go back to an out-of-the-way boss room, find the hidden enemy that is now in that room, and kill it dozens of times for a drop"

    Cool cool

After finishing up with that, I've started on Harmony of Dissonance. It's interesting to me that these two games are only about a year apart. Also that HoD, which seems much closer to Symphony of the Night graphically and in gameplay feel, was released further apart from SotN.

Circle was a day one release when the Gameboy Advance launched. The devs must not have yet known all the tricks for new hardware.

There's also CotM not being directed by Iga. It was a different team taking a different approach. Then Iga was told to rush something out the door so they just parroted SotN while refining CotM's card system. In Aria I guess Iga and team caught enough of a breath to start introducing new ideas and refinements.

It was more specifically the Castlevania 64 team, I believe. I wonder which team was behind the cancelled Dreamcast game that just was released online a year or so ago...

Normally I'm not one for shows paced as slowly as the Castlevania show is sometimes, but every scene in which two characters basically sit down and bounce ideology off each other is so terrifyingly empathetic and lovingly produced in a way that lesser shows would have two static heads with flapping mouths
I can't bring myself to dislike any of it because the character writing is so damn good

So it's like they made a Star Trek TNG anime?

Whew, man those DH-S-3/4 levels are something else. Finally got them down though; back again to farming until the last stage comes out. I'm assuming by the -0 that it's going to be one of those 400 enemies thingies. Looks like there's a lot of the Ch'en note things that you get from it; I assume it's a bunch to mark progress in the partial clears?
Hopefully it drops a crapton of currency too because I am so, so far away from emptying the shop of non-infinite materials. Is that supposed to be possible? I've just barely made a dent in the second tier of items, but it's like 1500 currency to just buy-out one type of item (or 2000 for all the LMD, yikes).

Somehow still have to get another 1000 currency in recycling to get the 10 of 10 for the medal.

Yes, I played it through back in December. It is SOTN influenced like wowza. Not nearly as good, but certainly worth a playthrough, especially on Gamepass.

I loved it! Of course, I also loved the anime, so I'm a bit biased. Great Metroidvania title that doesn't overstay it's welcome (ie. it's short).

I tried to play it on Game Pass a month ago, but there's an issue in that version where it runs at like half the proper framerate for PC players.

The movement of Deedlit is *really* solid, incredibly smooth, which adds a lot to the game's fun. The Ikaruga style element swapping and regen stuff also felt way more fresh than something like RotN, and I also liked some of the odder enemy behavior like centipedes, flowers and shades. Unfortunately the game is a bit low on movement upgrades and backtracking for a metroidvania, and most bosses seem to be cheesable enough with the element system that you don't have to learn all their patterns. I would like to see this studio given some more time and budget to make a more expansive, refined and a bit less repetitive game, because the have the basics down very well and could probably produce something more innovative than Iga has of late.

You don’t need to know anything about the story to follow along with the game. It’s a fairly self-contained story that would work without the original IP.

DID U KNO: it is possible to clear DH-EX-5 and its CM with only 4 operators

    Ol79vhd.png

Challenge Mode all like "The exploding boats EXPLODE HARDER" and I'm just like "okay cool, what if the boats didn't explode at all though"

Ideally I should've used a solid 2-block Vanguard along with Lapp, like maybe if she were higher level she could solo that entire lane by herself but it got close a few times and I had to heli-drop Myrtle in

I dunno if anyone's been in the Steam thread lately, we've been talking about Vampire Survivors which is basically an auto-clicker /rogue-lite in early access that uses assets that resemble Castlevania's style.

    I loved Deedlit until I didn't

I can't remember which dragon it was (maybe the third or fourth one), but I just couldn't beat it. I lost that fight so many times I grew to hate the game a bit. Maybe I'll go back to it in a few months.

It took long enough, but I'm finally max level (120). Really makes me wish the levels past the one that gets you to 135 stamina... did anything. Like, a small currency bonus (of any kind), that's how other gacha games I've played handled increasing the cap when they didn't want the player to have any more energy.

I guess that this is photo-adjacent at least. I keep a folder with dozens of my favourite vacation pictures and share them to my family, and for Christmas and my birthday I get these as gifts. I love how colourful they are on the wall, and how having gone to these places and taken these pictures myself they're connected to me and my experiences. With the holiday season over, I'm now up to fifteen of them. I feel like this is the best interior-decorating thing that I've ever done by far.

I haven't done any proper photography in a dog's age, but we're getting a pretty huge snowfall here this week so I'm gonna try to take this opportunity to get back in the mix. I've got a pretty good set of quality gear, it's just a matter of motivating myself to get off my ass and get out into the wilderness.
