Registax is stacking software, yup. (it's pretty nonintuitive to use, though, is a video that might help)

It wasn't on a tracking mount, it was just five photos taken in quick succession before the moon could move out of shot. Kit was an olympus e-m1 (mark 1), five shots at ISO 800, 1/400th, and this cheap-and-cheerful telescope that's roughly speaking a 1250/f13.8 lens if you mount a camera to the back of it.

(I did pick up one of the moveshootmove trackers and have playing with it a bit, but I really need to go somewhere that a:isn't my back garden surrounded by house / garage / trees / street lights and b:not have 50km/hour winds, because those are not ideal conditions for long exposures).

The original photos were significantly blurrier because it was windy / the air wasn't super clear, so stacking them helps to get a bit more detail.

Something happened to my Lightroom Catalog and it's an absolute nightmare to fix...thousands of missing photos, some of which when I try to locate are saying they're already in the catalog. It's going to take hours to untangle this garbage.

It taught me I should probably not have just one single catalog with 35000 photos. Once I fix this I suppose I’ll start by breaking it up into one catalog per year.

Edit: I'm a little shocked to learn that having one enormous Lightroom catalog is actually the best practice...So I guess if it gets mysteriously and suddenly fucked (my only warning was a popup that the database was corrupt and needed to be repaired) your only recourse is to just cross your fingers that it's not TOO fucked?

Realistically if I just restore the backup it's not too much work lost, but I did edit like 8 or 9 photos...I guess I could just export those, restore the backup, then reimport.

I think I fixed my Lightroom problem by blowing away all the images that it said were missing then doing an import of my entire source directory. It pulled some junk back in that I'd deleted, and I had to re-sort some things into collections afterwards, but I didn't lose any edits...Tiens voilà!

    1. I just saw the trailer for this game called Infernax and (as a Destructoid article I read also mentioned) this game looks inspired partially by Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, which is interesting!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RDRJG79e5w

A few months ago I posted the above trailer for this game that looks inspired by Simon's Quest. It's supposed to be out today (they're having some issues with making it buyable on Steam at the moment), but to my pleasant surprise, it's also on Game Pass! Going to give it a try today, I think.

Infernax seems like a lot of fun so far. It definitely feels like they took Simon's Quest as a framework and removed the jank. Enjoyable 8-bit style music. When you first start, you only have one life. If you die, you can choose between a classic restart, which puts you at the last save point and you lose any XP and gold you gained, and a casual restart, which locks you out of future classic restarts but allows you to keep some gold and XP. It also has some built-in cheat codes that I didn't really investigate, but I guess they make things easier as implied.

The game lets you make choices at certain points, but as far as I know I've only taken the good paths.

Fun achievement names for those into heavy metal.

    There's a fun optional
    wall meat
    reference in the game.

I see they have created Space Invaders in Arknights...

I only did like 5 of the new maps (I was tired and that was enough progress for yesterday :P) but so far pretty easy. But the early ones are always easy too.

The currency kinda feels like it might be a pain to get? I haven't even gotten enough for the character tokens yet and I've essentially done 10 stages (5 + challenge mode for each). Is there some kind of achievement thingy that gives more rewards I'm not seeing? There usually is one but I didn't see one here, just the store and movies.

VI-7 Challenge Mode was fucking INSANE though. FUCKIN' OP BOSS RUSH GO GO GO. Christ christ christ and the CM conditions, too. +75% redeployment cd!!!! A borrowed Carnelian was pretty clutch for my strat.
Patriot's goddamn ranged form arrows were just obliterating everyone so I was like "how do I even deal with this, like if I could have someone soaking them like Saria was able to for Faust's bolts...." "oh wait Carnelian"
Brutal fucking content though, just how I like it.

Been doing a replay on bloodstained ritual of the night, it is definitely nice knowing the directions you need to be going so you don't sit there all lost at the weird progression points. Still garbage at the boss fights though. So far I've made it through to interrupting somebody's bath. Might spend some time grinding out the healing shards, they are simply awful at low rate and low grade.

VI-7 and CM took a couple tries to get just right. Ended up blocking Patriot with Surtr for the first phase.

Just finished Infernax. Didn’t get the full good or evil ending. Actually considering going through it again to get both endings, because things change a lot if you commit to a good or bad path.

If you haven’t done so yet…

I beat the game yesterday and didn't realize I accidentally stumbled into the Ultimate Good ending. I was just trying to get through all the dungeon/castle areas that I saw, including some bonus areas. Anyway, I actually would like to see the other endings. This is a pretty good game! It's not without its flaws (the fourth castle was a nightmare for me), but it's got more going for it than not.

And I had heard about the spoiler you posted and did it myself after beating the game. Hilarious.

Wow, I actually did all these event missions myself without looking up a solution this time. Yeah, VI-7 was crazy hard. Somehow it didn't take me very many tries tho? I think I beat normal my first run through (though there were times I was absolutely scrambling) and then CM took me maybe two or three tries. It's funny, because VI-6 was kicking my ass I had swapped Eyjafjalla over to the volcano special and Saria over to that big slowly healy extra-magic damagey special and forgot to switch them back for VI-7. But that combo really helped a lot. Especially against that bullshit last boss who literally was one-shotting everyone (even poor Surtr could only last the duration of her "you can't die" period). I think the end of CM he had literally killed everyone, most operators on cooldown still and I slapped like, Myrtle and Siege as a last ditch effort to take out his final sliver of HP while he was about 2 tiles away from my exit and I just barely did it. haha

I think VI-6 (? or was it 5?) was giving me the most trouble out of all of them. I might have to look up the map to remember what was screwing me over because I totally forgot after the craziness of VI-7.

Edit: OH YEAH, fucking FrostNova! Yeah, that was the bullshit stage. Sometimes I'd even have her under control but the fact that she kept freezing my entire squad meant that other stupid little mooks were slipping through them. I think ultimately the solution for me was swapping around my setup a little so Siege was guarding the left side instead of the right (other side was Blaze the frost effect MVP)

Not at all. Infernax is a true gem and the perfect call back to Simon's Quest. Highly recommended, but be warned, it's really tough (lots of insta-death pits/lava in the later dungeons).
