Didn't get too much farther progression ways into bloodstained, made it to the fast travel point in the underground desert, but I did beat up enough fairies to cap out my healing shards, and also ground out enough money and/or potion ingredients to get my regen shard upgraded to a toggle skill. Just need to grind out more of the parts to make more of that shard so it regens for more.

Cleared the event, definitely looked up a strat for VI-7, didn't have the brain power left after doing taxes all day. VI-7 Challenge was pretty intense, failed quite a few times before mastering the timing of what I was trying to do.

Just beat Infernax and got the “good” ending, then reloaded and finished all the sidequests to start the quest chain for the ultimate good ending.

Can’t wait to do an evil run tomorrow.

    This game is seriously good.

I got the evil and ultimate evil endings on Monday. Currently working on the regular good ending. Then I'll have to play through it again to get the "went evil, but ultimately chose good" ending. After that, there's one more ending I need that presumably unlocks after you've completed the other endings.

I tried to do the Redemption ending but still got the Wretch ending instead.

So far the endings I've unlocked are:
    Normal
    Ultimate Good
    Wretch
    Submission
    Ultimate Evil
    Coward
    Drowsy
    Future

I did just enough to get the going evil cutscene, and then tried to do all the quests I could to go back to good, and after doing everything I could the guards were talking to me as if I was good again, but told me I kept needing to do good things to open up more quests. You *cannot* get the Holy Spell from the 5th Dungeon if you turn evil, no matter how many quests you do or what your alignment is, you'll always get hellfire instead which locks you out of one of the first quests. So this redemption ending is going to take some real min-maxing and dungeon diving to get that spell *before* you do any sidequests.

    Ending spoilers:
There's the main 4 endings, good/ultimate, evil/ultimate. Once you have those 4 ending books in your collection, you can just load a save and talk to Gregor and he'll send you to the 5th ending. No need to play through the game again. I only actually tried it with my good save, I don't know if it works with an evil one because I remember he just tells you off if you're evil.

Real neat game, but by the end I just flipped on the invincibility and jumping cheats and didn't look back. Game balance and difficulty decided to take a sharp turn into flooding levels full of instant kill pits. Meaning you have to basically marathon the whole dungeon in 1-3 lives before we shake the etch-a-sketch and make you start all over again. Later dungeons just didn't really make leaving and saving that feasible. The one dungeon with the jumps designed around the up-attack move can also go fuck itself, most frustrating part of the game right there. Also I had no clue where the final armor upgrade was, so everything was doing 2-4 damage, making it that much harder (I've since found where it's hiding though). Now granted, that was all on the classic difficulty. Casual is right there, even if I'm too fucking stubborn to pick it, so that is mostly on me. I actually tried it out a bit, and the first dungeon had a save shrine halfway through, so at least they do that for you.

All that being said, as soon as I beat the game, I instantly made another character. Post game secrets and spoilers:
First run was the good/ultimate good route. Used the wizard to do ultimate evil. The evil spells seem more suited for the character what with regenerating mana. The flame shield actually pissed me off a little with how much it trivializes most rooms. Only tried a little of the axe mode and it seems kind of dull. And Contra mode is just fuckin' overpowered and hilarious.

I beat the game on Classic difficulty and each run after has been on Casual since I've already proven myself. That being said, the forward dash move is the fucking worst. I wish I could disable it so I'd only have to worry about it when I needed it.

Yeah, after I beat the game the first time on Classic difficulty (with the ultimate good ending), I decided to bump things down to Casual as well. Made things a lot easier.

Also, gameplay tip for the up+attack and down+ attack moves: you can use the right analog stick to perform those moves by simply moving it up or down respectively, provided you have that option enabled. I think it's on by default. I remember seeing it in the options, but forgot about it by the time I got those moves. I used them on my second playthrough though.

Who wants to see some dolphins jumping?

    vivckhSh.jpg

    USRgN9yh.jpg

    Dusky Dolphins, Kaikoura NZ.
Duskys are amongst the more playful species of dolphins, and are known for their fondness for aerials, being amongst the most acrobatic of dolphin species. They'll often make repeated jumps for shits and giggles; spins, flops, backflips, tail slaps, and when they are in a mood they'll happily do this for half an hour or more. On this day there were at least 3 jumping, although that usually means there's more as it's always hard to tell how many are actually in the water. I'm pretty sure I saw the same pod surfing the breakers on the other side of the penninsula later the same day, but they weren't breaking the water (bar fins) so it was all dark shadows in massive translucent blue waves.

One thing I didn't notice in Infernax until yesterday: the game indicates whether you got an ending in Classic or Casual mode if you look above the book you earn for that ending.

Also, I got my second to last ending in the game last night. All that is left for me is the one Viskod mentioned, I believe.

I barely made it out of the Sea Castle after picking up its skill book, and it could have gone either way with one bad knock back into the water. If that'd happened I probably would have busted it down to Casual on the spot. I'm sure there's an example of a "classic" game that combines "hard reset to last save" with "action-based instant death" (excluding those with no save system at all), but none are coming to mind.

I'm all for meeting games where they are, but Infernax really does feel especially hellish.

So I think I'm done with Infernax for the time being. I've gotten the following endings:
    Good
    Ultimate Good
    Ultimate Evil
    Servant
    Sleepy
    Coward
    Future

Only missing Evil and Redemption. My first run was Good and I completed it on Classical. The rest of the runs were on Casual.

Played as the regular hero, the Wizard, and Contra guy. Didn't play Ultimate Evil hero (that crossed over with Contra guy) or the Axe guy.

This game is quite legit. I've gotten my money's worth and am quite happy. Such a complete and wonderful game. Admittedly, it can be tough (lots of kill pits in dungeons 3-5), but the Casual mode is right there and in-game cheat codes can also make things super easy as well.

    10/10 - Highly recommended

New gripe: I feel like this game would be very well served with a short-hop, and the number of enemies on platforms halfway up the jump height just above an instant-death pit in the Kastka Tower is making me think they knew what they were doing.

Man, I spent so long fighting this game last night to even let me play. After the update it just constantly crashed over and over, usually when trying to boot up. Eventually found some super old thread that suggested uninstalling and reinstalling webview application and that seemed to fix it. Still, I think this has happened before. Very annoying.

What snipers do you guys use? I've been getting by with Exusiai who is not maxxed out but close (lvl 80, 3 levels on her 3rd skill) and then for the longest time, just an E1 blue poison when I need a second sniper. Now that I have the alternate Ch'en also almost leveled (lvl 80 as well), where she just demolishes anything that gets in her range, is there a third sniper that has a niche that these two don't cover? I have W and Rosa just sitting around at lvl 1.

Likewise, I spent a lazy Sunday afternoon doing a Redemption run with one of the unlockable characters, which was the last of the meaningful things for me to do in the game. If you want to make getting the Redemption ending easier, here's something I picked out of the Steam forums on the subject:
Normally what complicates the Redemption route is that a lot of quests that give you good alignment points lock out after you become evil, mostly from the garrisons but also, say, the kid with the demon-infested dreams. However, the requirement is only that you have "good" alignment while in "evil" mode. It does not stipulate when exactly you become evil, and the quest that turns you evil doesn't reset your alignment. So, what you do is do just enough evil to start the cultist plot line (I stole the alms from the church, took the bandit bribe, partied with the vagrants, and maybe one or two other things, which was enough to get Philippe to give me the password), kill Hans, and then accept, without completing, the quest "First Offering". At this point, the game can't stop you from becoming evil. Now you go back and do all the good-guy quests you want-- I chose to do as many as were available for safety's sake, which ultimately led up to me "infiltrating" the cult with the password I'd already been freely given. Finally, just before you go fight Belphegor at Urzon Cathedral, go back to Jarvis and teleport him to the cult. You'll go into "evil mode" but with your alignment comfortably on the good end, and it should trigger the Redemption ending.

Oh man. Playing MetroidVania games portably was one of the biggest reasons for why I preordered a Steamdeck. Hopefully they'll retroactively add Steamdeck support. Konami might not care about their IPs, but I think the team who has done the last few collections/ports does care. I trust them far more than I trust Konami.
