I then started walking and immediately ate shit. Like, within 60 seconds of starting I was on my side in the mud. Fortunately, there was a nice brook a little ways down the path where I could wash my hands.
Saw some pretty birds including a goldfinch and male black-chinned hummingbird whose purple throat flashed brilliantly in the sun, but no pictures. The trail winds up one side of a valley that eventually crosses to the other side to start the climb to the main ridge. I saw lots of areas that probably drain water from melting snowpack, but with all but the highest peaks now snowless only this 1/3 of a waterfall still had flowing water.
The path eventually turns into a loop that is divided into a "scenic" half and a "shady" half. The scenic half takes you up the western side of the ridge overlooking the valley so you can see what you just climbed.
Getting to the eponymous Jardine Juniper requires a modest descent on the eastern side of the ridge, which gives a great view of the Logan valley. This is the highest I've been in the valley and got to see the top of the eastern mountains which were much more grassy and rolling than I was expecting.
Along the way is what I called a "teaser" juniper. This one has a fair amount of growth on it and is a nice comparison for the real deal.
Discovered in the 1920's, the Jardine Juniper is estimated to have an age somewhere in excess of 1500 years. Note that it has only a small crown of green in comparison to the teaser juniper earlier on the trail. Still alive and kicking, though!
I came back down the "shady" path that goes through a dense forest area. Around this time, I hear some thunder from the other side of the western mountains and, sure enough, when I left the forest the sun over there was disappearing as the clouds flowed over the tops.
A light to moderate rain started on my way down and the trail, which had become fairly dry over my trek up, was once again wet and slippery. The sound of the rain on the plant life was pleasant and I am proud to say I did not close the circle and eat shit on the way down.
As is tradition, Wheels commemorates the most recent CC.
I hate hate hate hate this enemy set, and looking up the solution to the stupid puzzle sucks almost as bad as the enemy mechanics themselves
Idk just horrible designs, I can’t believe they used them again for a cc
Definitely my least favorite CC I've actually played (hadn't started during CC beta, and skipped last CC cause I was busy).
Just not a fan of the color change stuff; it was fun for an event but I don't like it in a CC environment. Also didn't like how the vast majority of enemies/risks just don't matter up to a certain point, until you hit that right combination and whoops now they matter a lot. Felt less like a nice difficulty slopes and more "find the right combination of risks to stack so that you can continue to ignore every mechanic with the power of chalter"
It's uncanny
I looked away while shaking my head, cause it was such a good chance and no goal.
Turns out, literally no one on the ice saw it go in, until the defense an crashed the net and pointed at the puck?
Lolol
I saw that I was like damn that was a nice shot I take pride in following the puck and it was just gone I was confused

It's not my favorite either, but you are overthinking it. Basically, the only part of the map that matters is the middle. You can only block the long wiggly enemies on the two colored panels, and you have to match their color to pull off the block. They give you two fireworks to swap the colors, so depending on your strat for certain risks, it might be necessary to color change the panel to match one of those wiggly boys or conversely change the wiggly's color instead. The other parts that can become issues are the boss Free (shield that you'll need DPS to break before it explodes, two life bars, and a certain risk gives him a super mode) and the bomb enemies that you'll want to either clear the floor for so they'll kill each other or stop ASAP to prevent the explosion hitting at a bad time. Risk 18 was somewhat difficult, all the other challenges pretty much were not. As usual, Surtr, Chalter, or Eyja bombing the target to death is what most strategies can rely on.
Compared to the event where there was a lot of "make the maze of tiles the enemy moves through into the right colors" or "use tons of fireworks actively", this is dead simple. One pressure point and the bare minimum ability to change it.
I got no sound here, so I assumed it was a save, then looked back at the TV a minute later and saw the lightning srcum of cheering and was SO CONFUSED
As @shoeboxjeddy put, only the center of the map matters.

I love that Wheels put Saga on the mic because that is very fitting

Now then, the too many men non-call? Ehhh... I dunno. It was clearly too many men. Did it effect the play / did it matter? Doesn't really seem so. Figure the officiating foursome are out for the rest of the series. Will the league make that a reviewable call? I don't really think so, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. If it happens again in a big moment, then I think they might make a change, but for now, I think it's just a bad break for Tampa.
While it's dangerous that the goalie doesn't have a helmet its not like there is a fair way to give the offense the same advantage of their pressure after resetting and letting the goalie put his helmet back on so I don't think there is a great solution to that.

But then I would give the refs the ability to call a delay of game penalty. Yeah if the goalie takes a shot to the mask and and the straps come loose and the goalie shakes his helmet off, that's fine. But if the team has been hemmed in their end of 60 seconds and the goalie's mask magically falls off because a player breathed on him, let the refs call that a penalty.
That said, it's a very rare circumstance, and I suspect the league wouldn't do anything until there's an injury -- and maybe not even then.
Given that the extra man was who was swapping for Kadri, yeah it probably did affect it. It's a bad missed call. However, short of a miracle Tampa wasn't winning that anyway, we were gassed and down 1.5 players that game alone (Cernak (D) and 1/2 for Cirelli who could no longer take faceoffs and certainly wasn't playing 100%). Colorado was going to score eventually...
Was McKinnon slow coming off the ice? Yes. Was it a penalty. Probably not. If the play was coming towards the bench it probably gets called, but it's not like there was a tampa player distracted by McKinnon on the play. There were two guys that Kadri danced around for the goal. Maybe stop him.
And at the same freeze frame where Colorado still had 6 guys on the ice... Tampa had 7 on the ice.
Tampa looked fine the first five minutes of OT, but after that it was not good.

there are too many lines in hockey as it is
maybe go the other direction with it and be absolutists about it, like instead of 5ft, make it, has to physically be in contact with the wall
Lacrosse has a line 4' from the benches that's used to denote line changes. Seems to work pretty well, although sometimes you get guys queued up which can look a little silly.
But there can be unintended consequences to it. what happens when you have like 4 guys in that area and the puck ends up over there? could get messy. Benches are also different sizes across the league, newer buildings have bigger benches, etc. And because of bigger benches now in some rinks they extend way past the blue line. Is the guy inside the 5' box a the bench but still inside the attacking zone offside?
It isn't a bad idea but there's just a lot to consider.
British Kroos is real
I'll be at the game, so I expect tonight to be like Mad Max Fury Road trying to get back on the train
