I mean kind of. It's a limiter on your attacks, because god knows attack animations aren't, most glyphs fire off fast and you can fire each hand's glyph separately, so... PEW PEW PEW.

They need to re-release the Nintendo DS Castlevanias. They are starting to get expensive on eBay.
There are plenty of repro carts of them now.

Liked season 3 a lot but yeah the ending was messy and didn't explain anything.

I can understand that Allison had lost everything and was desperate for a return to her old life but they didn't have to make her do such terrible things. Trying to rape Luther with her powers was just gross and had nothing to do with her goals.

Asshole Ben was a bit too annoying. I know he was not meant to be likeable but come on in every single line he said except maybe a few near the end you could hear the venom behind it. Every word was tainted with hate/disdain.

I really hope that we can have Sloane back if there's a new season. She was absolutely charming and brought a positive and hopeful personality to a family that is severely lacking in that department.

    What are some easy/chill Metroidvanias?

I think the gameboy advance Castlevanias aren't hard. Did all trophies on Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, & Aria of Sorrow a few months back and it was just fun times. Besides some requisite rng skill grinding.

I am pretty bad at "classic" Castlevania. When I played through the recent GBA bundle on Switch, I found one of the three Metroidvanias to be pretty rough, but the other two weren't bad. (The classic Castlevania in the bundle stomped me bad enough I didn't bother trying to finish)

I can see there being a timeskip for season 4. The actor that plays Five is getting a little too old so they may have to age him up a little bit. Also, seeing Diego and Lila's kid as a 3-6 year old could be pretty cool.

How much does the show deviate from the comics?

I've not read the 3rd volume of the comic yet as I was putting it off until I watched the 3rd season of the show but seasons 1 and 2 are, at best, "inspired by" the comic. The characters have some passing resemblance to one another and there's occasionally a scene or a story beat lifted directly from the comic but the show only tells the same story as the comic at a one-sentence summary level.

The worldbuilding in the comics is also very different from the show. I don't know that I'd say either is better than the other so much as just very different.

Castlevania one is pretty easy to the end of stage 3, but then the back three stages are absurdly hard unless you know that you need holy water for the bosses. Even then not being able to change your jump in the air is a huge hurdle.

Three is something else. I don’t think I’ve even made it close to Dracula and I often have trouble on the clock tower or level 2.

Simons quest is easy if you can figure out where to go.

Bloodlines seems pretty hard but I’ve only been trying it for a few days.

Symphony of the night and all the games after it are really easy and you can just level past any problems or get a lucky absurdly powerful drop.

Ecclesia swings back the other way and has an early castlevania feel. The platforms aren’t that hard but the bosses killed me over and over and over starting from the crab and some of the draculas castle bosses were absurd.

I think in hard mode I was playing with a ring that killed you if you got hit because it was only one extra hit.

I had Castlevanias 2 and 3 on the NES back in the day. Beat 2 plenty of times, I assume I had a hint book or Nintendo Power or something to tell me the bullshit, but the gameplay was not especially bad.

3 I only beat once, with Grant as my partner. The final stage was just too much for me to get through most of the time, and then after that the boss is also challenging. Alucard can't fight, and Sypha can't navigate platform bullshit. Grant can do both, though!

So the ending was Hargreaves reunited with his wife and lord of the World? Country? City?

And Allison gets a special ending because she made a deal with him?

Everyone else just left to their own devices?

What was up with Ben stinger?

Seems like they could do a season 4 where Five realizes Hargreaves shouldn't be in power and orchestrates the commission to change everything.

The actors for Five and Klaus stealing nearly every scene across nearly all 3 seasons.

I love how this event was made specifically for me, the #1 Weedy Simp. "We made a ton of mechanics that promote Shifting and there's holes and ice all over the place"

    WEEDY'S TIME TO SHINE

(also I got to use both Weedy's S2 AND Scene in this event, bless bless bless)

I did what I always do and skip the story first just to get the stages cleared and get the farming going (and then go back and read the story after) but I had a ton of fun with BI-7 in particular

I did not realize that SotN on the PSP was so blurry. I heard that you can fix that in an emulator.
But, if you use an emulator, you might as well play the Playstation version.
...or the Sega Saturn one for some extra content.

Yeah, Bloodlines is the Genesis/Mega Drive one. It's mean because you get a password every time you beat a level, but that password saves your lives and number of continues left. I never did beat the game on expert mode, which I believe hides an extra boss or the true ending or both.

The PS4 release seems to literally be a PSP emulator. They've raised the resolution enough to solve the scaling issues.

The PSP version of Symphony at least is a bonified port, it's not any kind of PS1 emulation, even though the PSP was pretty good at that.

My problem mostly isn't the deal itself, because she clearly didn't expect murder as part of it. The deal seemed largely to be "help get everybody into the hotel and I'll get you what you want"; Allison didn't know Hargreaves was going to murder Luther to create that opportunity, but Allison sure as fuck took advantage when Luther was killed.

My problem is that she was, as a character, entirely fucking selfish enough to ignore that Hargreaves would completely fuck the team over even if he kept his word to her. So when she's complaining "this wasn't part of the deal", it's still her being deceitful because she had to know there was zero fucking chance of the deal playing out straight. She just got caught at it in front of her family and she didn't want them all to blame her.

I'm also betting the reset didn't go off 100% as Hargreaves intended. From what it looked like, the process was supposed to drain all seven people to death before going off. Hargreaves said their deaths didn't matter because, for once, he was being honest: the reset would bring everybody back, and they would seemingly remember everything so it would really be them. Hargreaves should also probably remember everything, including the part where Allison chopped off part of his head.

It's also really shitty that Allison went ahead and pressed the button. They had two fucking supergeniuses within twenty feet of the machine, just stop for a little bit and let them take a look. At worst, they say they can't figure out the machine but it seems ready to go, and it's better to take a chance on the universe reset than just sit in Hotel Oblivion until they all die of old age or something. At best, the two brains realize they can work out the language and figure out what it was set to do. And in either extreme, everybody gets to make a fucking decision, it's not just Allison jumping in, again, to fuck things up to get what she wants. It really seemed at that point like the only time pressure was Allison not wanting to take the risk of being stopped from getting her way, and the longer they waited the more it would become likely that things would get changed.

For a fourth season, I'd want to see, in order: Luther getting to ACTUALLY FUCKING HAVE POWERS instead of this thing where he's just burly guy but is otherwise normal (seriously, show make up your mind. Can Luther shrug off RPGs that could kill a tank, or is he just as vulnerable as any other person?), Hargreaves being revealed as the actual villain and getting splattered for it, and a significant comeuppance for Allison for making sure the bad guy gets everything he dreamed of. Maybe swap two and three because while Hargreaves is an asshole, Allison claims to actually care for her family despite turning on them repeatedly. Hargreaves is always out for himself, but he doesn't bother hiding it.

Really, I am thinking the Saturn version is the best version due to the extra content. It has a couple of weird extra areas.
There is an English fan patch for it. Of course, it is an expensive collector's item now.
It doesn't perform as smoothly as the other versions, though.
