Oh, I'm not sure this got mentioned, but the Czech team that Jaromir Jagr owns was so decimated by injury and illness last week that Jagr, 50, suited up and played in a game. His team lost 7-3, but Jaromir Jagr, 50, had 2 assists in the game, while playing 15:10.

    Jaromir Jagr is 50.

Hilariously this also resets his eligibility for the Hockey Hall of Fame, since the requirements are 3 years after your last professional game.

    https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/nhl-jaromir-jagr-forced-into-action-at-age-50-after-illness-decimates-team-he-owns-003327510.html

Unless you're Mario Lemieux and the NHL realises you are the best played ever and bypasses the rule, and then you unretire and play more nhl games while also being in the hall of fame, because, again, you are the best nhl player in history.

two things: it's isn't the NHL hall of fame, it is the Hockey Hall of Fame. The NHL actually doesn't have anything to do with the Hall of Fame.

But the Hall has waived the 3 year waiting period a few times (10, according to Wikipedia), but also that Wayne Gretzky would be the last player they ever waived the waiting period for.

Originally the 3 year rule was for when your last contract ended, but in the world of LTIR in the NHL, it was amended in 2015 to be 3 years from your last professional game. That's how Pronger got in in 2015 despite technically still being under contract until 2017.

I would very much argue that the Hall is keeping with its standard of no longer waiving the 3 year waiting period, otherwise Jagr specifically would already be in the hall.

Weird, the Mario Lemieux Wikipedia page says it was the third time rather than 10th

he became the third Hall of Famer (after Gordie Howe and Guy Lafleur) to play after being inducted.

he became the third Hall of Famer (after Gordie Howe and Guy Lafleur) to play after being inducted.

The hall has waived the 3 year waiting period 10 times. Lemieux was the 3rd (and last) to come back and play after being inducted.
The waiting period was waived for ten players deemed exceptionally notable; Dit Clapper (1947), Maurice Richard (1961), Ted Lindsay (1966), Red Kelly (1969), Terry Sawchuk (1971), Jean Béliveau (1972), Gordie Howe (1972), Bobby Orr (1979), Mario Lemieux (1997), and Wayne Gretzky (1999).[40] Following Gretzky's induction, the Board of Directors determined that the waiting period would no longer be waived for any player except under "certain humanitarian circumstances".[2] Three Hall of Fame members came out of retirement after their induction and resumed a career in the National League: Gordie Howe, Guy Lafleur and Mario Lemieux.[2]

boo on that. has he been drinking water?

He has. More than usual for him infact.

I'm wondering if I need to change his brand of for again or something. But he's also getting weird scab spots on his neck now in addition to the spots on his back and belly where he licks ask his fur off, which really worries me.

Weirdly he's never been much of a puker or had hairballs despite the fur issues.

He's got a vet appointment next week I'm a little worried they may have to pull bloodwork to find what's going on finally.

    So the city in a effort to curb homeless camping all but did a slash and burn on a cistern {or water retention area}
    This is the aftermath
    7g2chj4caspm.png
You can see how muddy the ground still is {in 20F weather} as well as the larger stumps of the trees
    n8xm8d5p7j15.png
As what really bothers me is that area was home to a ton of birds {the peregrine hawk had a nest in the trees I will find the pic I took of that a few years ago} as well as skunks rabbits and other animals
As in the days after the animals were looking for new homes since they destroyed that area

Why I think it was to discourage homeless camping was a couple of years ago someone built a leanto in the chute you could not see unless you were down there. I have seen camp sites but the skunks usually chase people off they would not go near the chute

I know that area will now be a mess of weeds in the spring and just ugly because of a short sighted effort

I haven’t been able to lift because I have some stitches in me and I am playing it safe.

But come this Friday they are going to be removed (and it will be two weeks since I got them in the first place). Maybe like an inch, inch and a half of stitches on my upper right back.

Once they are out I can go back to lifting right? I am tired of waiting.

My home gym is pretty minimal, door frame pull up bar, ab wheel, 2x 16kg KBs, 1x 24kg KBs, 1x 32kg KB. Looking to double up on the existing KBs and not sure where (if anywhere) I'll go from there.

I have a membership to some climbing gyms that are close by, that have surprisingly good weightlifting areas, that tend to be very underutilized (because people are climbing) so I haven't felt too much of a need yet to up my home game.

According to the penguins announcers, in a recent avalanche game, cale makar talked the refs out of calling a tripping penalty against the other team?

Like, he went to the ref and said "no I wasn't tripped, don't call that against the guy you think tripped me. Don't give us a power play"

    ???

Yeah the crowd was not happy when the ref skated up, turned on his mic and simply said, "There's no penalty."

It's like inverse soccer. Also the part I hated most about the World Cup this year

I think the soccer thing is extremely overrated. Are you telling me that there aren't 10 dives in every hockey game?

EDIT: or my personal favorite of guys who use their arm to hold a defender's stick in their midsection to try to draw a hooking penalty. That stuff happens *all* the time in NHL games. Soccer is no better/worse.

Since we’re back to our regular forum now…..I’m super excited because I got Avs tickets (for a game in Ottawa) for Christmas. Have never been able to see the Avs live so this is pretty huge for me. I just hope they’re healthier and playing better by then. The last week as been rough.
