We went to Abraham Lake between boxing day and new year; bubble photos will need more sorting through, but as it was far away from any towns etc, I went out to try and take photos of the milky way again. Turns out that the milky way was below the horizon, so I just went for normal stars. And, like when we were in Sundre, there was an annoying glow to the north that, by pure good luck, was actually the northern lights showing up again:

    7g8x7a4fr0sg.jpg

The next night things were darker so I just got a regular photo of the stars -- it really does help an awful lot to be away from city sky glow, and I finally got around to trying out the little star tracker I got, which helped keep things sharp for longer exposures:

I don't recall seeing them during a hockey game before, but those commercials have been going for a good little bit now.
Coming from a family that fights like that and bible thumps, I find them very amusing.

Sometimes I wonder how this season would be going if the penguins scored a single goal in the third period all season long, but its probably not important

Vegas @ Seattle for the Winter Classic next year.
Could be good and fun and I immediately thought about trying to arrange to get up there. On the other hand, could be pretty bad outdoor ice and a fairly miserable time.

I live in seattle! I'll probably try and go.

    And sit in the rain

    And watch shitty rain hockey

For hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars

Okay, maybe I won't try and go

With the game at T-Mobile park it has a retractable roof so rain during the game should not be an issue.

I think having a winter classic of Vegas and Seattle is brilliant. Love the idea.

Small space, but lots of stuff. I have two exciting deliveries imminent; the Rep Open Trap Bar and the Bulletproof Fitness Isolator, which is a rack mounted leg extension, leg curl, hip thrust station, arm machine, crazy ass multi-piece unit.

Peaking block is going well, despite developing plantar fasciitis and tendinitis in my left forearm. My deadlift is going to hit somewhere north of 510lbs, which is a massive PR. Squat and bench should also PR. Thumbs up for ChadBot and bulking.

Gork is that a GHR or a reverse hyper folded up next to the bench and pads? Either way, which one did you get and are you happy with it?

It’s a scout reverse hyper from Rogue. I like it for the space savings but I hate it for the capacity. It’s not rated for a high weight, so when I do heavy swings, the front feet lift up. To keep it from flipping backwards, I have to attach a chain to my rack and thread it through the crossmembers of the hyper. The loading pin is also limited, so anything above 200lbs on the arm I have to use a different chain and carabiner to secure the extra weight to the swing arm.

If I wasn’t space limited, I would drop it for Titan’s cheapo hyper, but I don’t want to give up the floor space.

I also have a GHD setup that is modular which you can see the pieces of. I have a GHD footplate from Rogue that attaches to my rack and two GHD pads from Rep that I put on top of my squat box. Works great and minimal space needed.

You don’t need more than 1g/lb of protein to support muscle growth. Even slightly less is fine. Any excess calories should be split between fat and carbs, with prejudice to carbs because they fuel performance lifting weights.

I’m going to respectfully disagree with you and leave it at that.

Regarding pain while you’re lifting, the body is a funny thing. Pain is multi-factorial. Sometimes it’s related directly to what you’re doing and sometimes it’s because you are sad about something that happened that day.

When you’re faced with an acute pain while lifting, sometimes it’s worth it to step back and ask yourself how well you’re recovered. Have you been sleeping well? Eating enough? Fully hydrated? If yes to all those, it’s sometimes worth it to tell your body to shut the fuck up and go at it. Lifting weights requires a certain degree of aggression. Don’t let your mind trick you into otherwise.

Would you like to read a meta-analysis on protein synthesis? Sure you would: https://mennohenselmans.com/the-myth-of-1glb-optimal-protein-intake-for-bodybuilders/

    I guess the title undermines my point, slightly, but here are some salient cited sources;

    • Tarnopolsky et al. (1992) observed no differences in whole body protein synthesis or indexes of lean body mass in strength athletes consuming either 0.64g/lb or 1.10g/lb over a 2 week period. Protein oxidation did increase in the high protein group, indicating a nutrient overload.
    • Walberg et al. (1988) found that 0.73g/lb was sufficient to maintain positive nitrogen balance in cutting weightlifters over a 7 day time period.
    • Tarnopolsky et al. (1988) found that only 0.37g/lb was required to maintain positive nitrogen balance in elite bodybuilders (over 5 years of experience, possible previous use of androgens) over a 10 day period. 0.45g/lb was sufficient to maintain lean body mass in bodybuilders over a 2 week period. The authors suggested that 0.55g/lb was sufficient for bodybuilders.
    • Lemon et al. (1992) found no differences in muscle mass or strength gains in novice bodybuilders consuming either 0.61g/lb or 1.19g/lb over a 4 week period. Based on nitrogen balance data, the authors recommended 0.75g/lb.
    • Hoffman et al. (2006) found no differences in body composition, strength or resting hormonal concentrations in strength athletes consuming either 0.77g/lb or >0.91g/lb over a 3 month period.

    Okay, your turn.

I was giving Juggernut a framework to use to evaluate what is going on since he often talks about struggling with weights he deems trivial and a lot of his issues are probably related to proper recovery. You told him to eat more protein to deal with his glute pain.

The blurb you posted uses retention of lean muscle mass and body composition as the measurable result. What does that have to do with muscle growth, which is what I was talking about and the point you were initially responding to.

Your point about evaluating his macros is wrong and is not why he is struggling because he is clearly eating a sufficient amount of protein to support muscle growth, which is supported by literally every study both of us have posted. His issues, if you have followed the history of his posting, are elsewhere.

The Carolina Hurricanes outshot the Nashville Predators 67-25 in a 60 minute hockey game. More than one shot per minute.

Nashville won the game 5-3. Jusse Sarros made 64 saves to win the game. Franchise record for saves.

I haven't done SSS or the EX stages yet... but tired and just doing minimum farming.

Need to figure out who I'm going to level modules for. Leaning towards Ling, Mostima, and Ch'en for 6*s. I don't have any 5* modules that get me excited... considering doing Mr Nothing though. Will probably do Ethan and maybe Gummi for 4*s. Considered Cutter but I never use her anymore.
