Took the time to run Chapter 11 (run but not read it, lol). Once again, I am caught flatfooted by there being an Operator tucked away in there. I'm not sure what the optimal way to fight the Big O is, but applying laughable amounts of dakka (Thorns + Mylnar + Surtr + a side helping of Pozemka) didn't seem to hurt.

Ha, ironically I was doing a lot of Chapter 11 last night too, after not touching the campaign in months (slash a year? It's been forever.. because lazy... I only started Chapter 9 like a few weeks back). For whatever reason I've been in the mood to check more of the boxes lately so I'd been kinda randomly working on stuff. Also been trying to get a lot of the modules. Not that I have the premium mats to make all of them but you know, the quest requirements are done at least :P

I still don't quite understand the red puke mechanic the chapter seems to be using, other than I guess it's a dot cloud? The damage is so negligible though that it doesn't feel like it's doing anything. I keep expecting enough stacks of it to build where it just OHKOs my operators but that isn't happening, so *shrug.* Maybe it's just a mechanic like those prisoner enrage things - something I just ignore because I can't be bothered to care :3 (I kinda suspect I am accidentally just circumventing the mechanic somehow via my normal playstyle but who knows)

I haven't watched a ton of hockey, so I don't know a ton about the rules, so I gotta trust the officials, and the folks in the studio kinda added to that

But yeah that would have had me pretty heated.

I think the Panthers have played a better game, but we'll see

It's definitely a close one, but based off the dallas/seattle game 5 (?) goal which was allowed to stand and this one being not allowed, the only difference I see is that this one was in the blue and the dallas one was slightly outside the blue

That would explain it. The blue is where goaltender interference happens

You're also not allowed to contact a goalie outside of the blue, though.

Goal tender interference often happens when the goalie is behind the net. Maybe 50% of all goalie interference penalties are behind the net.

Edit: this was hockey Canada rulebook, not nhl rulebook. Let me try and find the real nhl rules

    Edit: rule 69, nice!
Rule 69 – Interference on the Goalkeeper
69.1 Interference on the Goalkeeper - This rule is based on the premise
that an attacking player’s position, whether inside or outside the
crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be
    allowed or disallowed.
In other words, goals scored while attacking
players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances
be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking
player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s
ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an
attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a
goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact
with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when
such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the
attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.

The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice
judgement of the Referee(s), but may be subject to a Coach’s
    Challenge (see Rule 38).
For purposes of this rule, “contact,” whether incidental or
otherwise, shall mean any contact that is made between or among a
goalkeeper and attacking player(s), whether by means of a stick or
    any part of the body.
The overriding rationale of this rule is that a goalkeeper should
have the ability to move freely within his goal crease without being
hindered by the actions of an attacking player.
    If an attacking player
enters the goal crease and, by his actions, impairs the goalkeeper’s
ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be
    disallowed.
If an attacking player has been pushed, shoved, or fouled by a
defending player so as to cause him to come into contact with the
goalkeeper, such contact will not be deemed contact initiated by the
attacking player for purposes of this rule, provided the attacking player
has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.

If a defending player has been pushed, shoved, or fouled by an
attacking player so as to cause the defending player to come into
contact with his own goalkeeper, such contact shall be deemed
contact initiated by the attacking player for purposes of this rule, and if
necessary a penalty assessed to the attacking player and if a goal is
    scored it would be disallowed

Pretty clear, either they should have both been allowed or they both should have been disallowed. Very clear.

    Clear as mud!

Sorry, I made a whole bunch of edits to my post.

It still doesn't make sense to me, why either one was allowed or why either one was disallowed.

That list is kinda intriguing. In the top 50, there's almost no patterns, with games from the 30s and games from the 00s right next to each other--except, there's two games from the 60s (only one of those in the top 25), one from the 80s, and none from the seventies. Every other really long playoff game is before 1960 or after 1990. For thirty years long OT playoff games were very much the exception, not the rule.

I will gleefully say this is why Mountain Time is the best time zone for sports. The game started at 6, a perfectly reasonable time. And it was over at 11:58pm, despite being pretty much 7 full periods of hockey. That's only an hour later than I'd normally go to bed.

No, 8PM ET is a pretty standard start time for every pro sports league when you're trying to get the most/biggest national audience. NFL starts around that time for most of its primetime games, I'm less familiar with all the scheduling of the NBA but I believe they do try for that time whenever possible as well. MLB does for the World series, and whenever it can for week days during the LCS.

Remember if you start any earlier you're starting during working hours for the Pacific time zone.

Yeah, it was covered in the penguins sphere when he said it. Still wouldn't be terribly surprised if he interviewed.

    In other news

    https://www.nhl.com/penguins/news/sidney-crosby-pittsburgh-penguins-justin-thomas-pga-tour/c-344422014
Justin Thomas is one of the best golfers in the world, looking to defend his PGA Championship title this weekend at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.

The native of Louisville, Kentucky also happens to be a big hockey fan, and the Pittsburgh Penguins are his team. So, when he spotted Sidney Crosby at a restaurant in Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina, Thomas was pumped.

    ...

It all started when Crosby sent over a nice bottle of wine, which inspired a response straight out of the show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

"You could just see our minds churning with our immatureness of how we were going to respond," Thomas said with a laugh. "(The waiter's) kind of standing there, like, do you want to send anything back? And I don't know why, it just came into my mind - I was like, what salads do you guys have? What do you think about splitting a Caesar salad into eight portions and giving it to them?"

They watched as a group of servers approached the Penguins players - including Jake Guentzel - and said, "on behalf of Justin and everybody and the guys, they wanted to send you guys something!" … and it was just a piece of lettuce and a crouton on each plate.

Not to be outdone, Crosby and company had the waiter take over what looked like a tray of tequila shots, complete with salt around the rims and limes.

"You know when you see something and it just looks warm? We're like, this is a warm tequila shot!" Thomas said. "We just feel the glass, and everybody is just like, petrified to smell this thing, let alone try it. So, all of us are getting a little closer to it and someone at the table just goes, it's water!"

The golfers got a kick out of that, and then sent over a round of their own - glasses of 2% milk - to close out the hilarious back-and-forth.

"I think they sent it back and said no, we know you missed the cut at the Masters, so you probably shouldn't pay for this, or something like that,"

The group eventually decided to play some flip cup.

"We're setting it up, and picking teams. It's like captains, and we're going back and forth, and I'm all pumped up. I'm on Sidney Crosby's flip cup team, this is going to be freakin' awesome," Thomas said. But the star of the show was Kaufman, who orchestrated a head-to-head matchup against the captain, and defeated him. "People were talking, like, that's where I'll peak in my life," Smylie joked.

No, Dubas will take at least a year off. the pressure of being Leafs GM is immense, and if he said it's Toronto or nothing next year, 100% believe him.

Remember Dubas is practically a child. He'll take a year or two off, then go be a GM somewhere else and probably do that for 25 years.
