I always get a kick out of the scene where they weaponize the luck virus by having Kryten rattle off the things they need, and Lister keeps literally tripping over them.

The thing that was most interesting to me with this free agency was that the majority of contracts were shorter terms. Very few longer than 4 years.

Part of that is the flat cap and the likelyhood that in a couple seasons it'll take a big jump, meaning more money for players. But I do think that part of it is some teams are really starting to figure out that 7 year contracts for 28-32 year old's might not be the best idea all of the time.

The recuperation lounge, I keep telling you! Blimey, no wonder you only scored 4%...

In the UK at one point the BBC did a sort of celebration of Red Dwarf and polled viewers for the favourite episode, and they'd show the winning episode to close it out. That one (Back to Reality) won, handily.

The car chase scene remains a personal fave, loved it.

Gunmen of the apocalypse is a close second for me.

Season 6 was really the best realized season. All the episodes in that season are solid.

I'd argue 3 through 6 is basically great episode after episode, probably through to season 7 ep 2. 6 probably hits that sweet spot where the visuals improve drastically.

3-6 are all bangers but V is definitely imo the best. Holoship, Inquisitor, Terror form, Quarantine and Back to Reality are up there for the best episodes.

(Me, returning from the concession stands at the July 4th baseball game for the second time): This little old woman just smacked me right on the ass!... tried to play it off like an, "oh, we're all in the crowd and it was accidental, sorry", but she smacked me directly on the wallet-spot ,with purpose in an open area, then just disappeared into the crowd....

(My wife, having quickly finished that first beer so I could bring her one more before the seventh inning stretch): "Well...I guess that's America's ass tonight"

Some people I know went to Aus comicon this year as the Rimmer family. The wife was anger-drained Rimmer from Polymorph, with the "Give quiche a chance" shirt and "Chameleonic lifeforms no thanks" sign, the son was young Rimmer in a Scout's uniform, and the husband was Quarantine Rimmer with the gingham dress and Mr Flibble.

Order some chicken soup and accidentally trigger the self destruct. Only on a JMC ship.

To be fair, it was a milkshake and a crunchy bar.

Chicken soup would probably just vent all the air out of the ship.

Just want to come back to this to say this was one of the best moments of planting and payoff in the show.

I mean the whole goddamn scene is bursting. From Cat playing with the chicken, to the visual gag of him feigning to bolt up, and of course...

"What's more important, the man's life or your smegging lunch?"
"That doesn't even deserve an answer."

Character development is a funny thing to see though. It's kind of jarring to remember Cat was this aloof and uncaring. In later seasons he would have genuinely ditched his lunch to help Lister.
