you can, with a subscription to Sportsnet+ Premium.

But literally every team has regional broadcasts. There are teams that make more money from their regional broadcasts than they do from national ones. This is why they're protected so much.

I also completley forgot to include the streaming info for anything but ESPN+, so I'm going to edit the post now.

alas I have TSN and Sportsnet through my cable package and TSN does not allow you to pay the difference to upgrade to TSN+ if you have cable. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.

I know McDavid was pretty outspoken on his disappointment on the league’s decision on Pride Nights. I hope he, and others obviously, just take the fine and use the tape anyway.

I'm not sure what "difference" you're talking about. TSN+ by itself is $8/month. There isn't really much there for Bell to give a deal on, and you can subscribe separately to TSN+ while still accessing TSN with your cable credentials.

Watch the first Gundam show, Mobile Suit Gundam (1979)

If you've watched that, watch Zeta Gundam. If you've watched that, watch ZZ Gundam. If you've watched that, watch Char's Counterattack... go down the list in release order. ;)

I've been mentally checked out on this league for a bit now, and didn't watch any hockey last year and only a little bit the years prior to that. But I'm being dragged to box seats on Saturday for work. It's going to be the Leafs vs. the Wild. Are either of these teams supposed to be any good this year? Who is worth watching when they're on the ice?

The Maple Leafs are perennial Stanley Cup contenders who may finish first in the Eastern conference before losing in the first or second round of the playoffs.

But during the regular season, one of the best teams in the league.

No. TSN+ is not TSN. TSN+ carries supplemental/extra coverage that doesn't air on TSN.

The only way to watch NHL games that would otherwise be blacked out is to subscribe to Sportsnet+ Premium. That is the out of market NHL game service, it replaced the old NHL.tv streaming service a couple years ago. Unfortunately the same problem exists there that if you're subscribed to cable you're paying for Sportsnet twice. There's no current way around that.

It's why when my TV/internet comes up for renewal in February I'm almost certainly finally dumping cable. If I have to pay for Sportsnet+ anyway, no need for me to have cable still.

AHA, @wunderbar I see why I got confused, it's because Sportsnet renamed their bullshit.

If I want the Blacked Out TSN games I need to get SPORTSNET+, and that's the thing that they don't offer an upgrade for if you are already paying for regular sportsnet through cable. So you can't pay the difference, you have to pay for the full sportsnet+ experience, which includes regular sportsnet. Which is bullshit since I'm already paying for regular sportsnet through cable, which you just said.

I find the entire thing to be incredibly frustrating and really just penalizing. I guess I could get NHL Centre Ice which is very expensive and I can't stream.

you can blame the NHL. the out of market streaming package used to be run by the NHL. I subscribed to that for 10 years. But when the NHL gave those rights to ESPN via ESPN+ in the US they decided to get out of that market in North America altogether and gave the out of market streaming package in Canada to Rogers/Sportsnet, who built it into Sportsnet+ at a higher Premium tier.

The price actually isn't significantly higher than the old NHL.tv streaming service was, and for the first year they actually gave people who had NHL.tv the same price as a make good. So I've justified the subscription for a couple of years because it wasn't any more than what I was already paying for NHL.tv anyway. So I wasn't spending more than I already was, it was just a bit of redundancy.

I promise I'm not going to do this every day/week, but the season starts today so it feels important.

The NHL season begins today! There is a tripleheader on ESPN to kick the season off. The ESPN games will be broadcast on Sportsnet in Canada.

NSH @ TB - 5:30PM ET, ESPN, Sportsnet
CHI @ PIT - 8pm ET, ESPN, Sportsnet
SEA @ VGK - 10:30pm ET ESPN, Sportsnet

The open week games continue Wednesday, with an NHL on TNT doubleheader and Wednesday Night Hockey on Sportsnet featuring all seven Canadian teams. The games featuring Canadian teams are all nationally televised in Canada. the NHL on TNT games are national US games. The odd duck out is the sens/canes is only available regionally in the US.

    MTL @ TOR - 7pm ET, Sportsnet
OTT @ CAR - 7pm ET, Sportsnet One
WPG @ CGY - 10pm ET, Sportsnet West (available nationally)
EDM @ VAN - 10pm ET, Sportsnet East, Ontario, Pacific, One

    CHI @ BOS - 7:30pm ET, TNT
    COL @ LA - 10pm ET, TNT

    Happy Hockey!

Yeah, I dumped satellite (sort of, Bell begged me to stay and left me with basic for literally $0) last year and made the jump to SN+ Premium. Haven’t had any complaints other than I wish it let you choose if you wanted the home or away feed.

    1. Tampa looked fine, but Nashville looked real bad. Need to see Tampa play a good team before deciding if they're any good.

    2. Chicago looked real bad for most of that game and the Pens decided to take 15 minutes off and lost the game. Beating the Pens won't be the highlight of the season for Chicago, but people in Chicago should not be clearing their calendar in April for this team.

    3. Vegas looks like the team that won the Stanley Cup last year.

Avalanche center and wings going forward on the faceoff but not bringing the puck with them and getting scored on with under 10 seconds left in the 2nd is kinda funny to watch.

Bowen Byram is on a mission. Two checking from behind/charging/cross checking/whatever they called em penalties in under 5 minutes

I don't think I've ever really finished a Gundam show, but not because they aren't good, more just out of circumstances? But I was in Japan a few weeks ago and it's really hard not to osmose the cultural hype for big white robots over there. I encountered at least 5 gundams clocking 4 feet tall, and of course the life size Unicorn Gundam at Diver City. That wasn't even on the itinerary, I just saw it from the train on the way to TeamLab and added it on the spot.

You can't see a five story robot from a distance and not want to check it out!

And I figured, what the hell, since I'm here, time to start watching Witch from Mercury, and it's damn good so far. I picked up the HG Aerial for like... 1000 yen at a hobby shop over there, so I've got that to look forward to as well. That's like 6 and a half bucks! I got a miniature gundam from a gacha machine and that thing was 500 yen, so it was a no-brainer to pick up a real one.

It's hard to overstate just how prevalent these kits are over there. You walk into a hobby shop and often it's just floor to ceiling boxes.
