I’m not sure if it’s the Friday doldrums or what but I am REALLY down this morning.

I had some of that on Wednesday- the seasonal depression hit like a fucking truck this year, it was almost impressive how morose I was for seemingly no reason at all

    Oh I’m morose.

You haven’t even seen morose until you’ve me morose.

    Just sooooo morose

Buddy, I was "watching Nic Cage's "Pig" on the couch, midday, on purpose" morose, don't tell me about being morose

It was an absolutely beautiful movie, and it hit me right where it hurt, and I'm positive I'll watch it again soon because I've already told my partner it's a must-see, but watching it intentionally on a heavy-depression day was like trying to push through a nicotine addiction by smoking the whole pack at once

The end of CC brings us the most hype Wheels animation yet (ever?)

And the anime has started, you all watching?

A playlist of them all in a row if you never knew what I was talking about and didn't want to ask.

The movie was described to me as “John Wick but it’s Nic Cage and a Pig”

I have never been more pissed at a horrible description of a movie than I was at that.

That's how it was marketed and I kinda think that's an important expectation to have going in. It really feels like it's going that direction in the first act before changing course and becoming essentially an inverse John Wick.

The first battle map of Burrow's End has got to be some of the best work the prop team has put out. It's absolutely astounding
It's also an absolute friggin' nightmare in all the best ways. Just so gross

I'm not sure what's more impressive. The amount of work you put in to accomplish this goal, or how clearly you've illustrated your distaste for Kaeya specifically.

Tim Wilson is such a fucking piece of shit.

If he wasn't a " hockey " " player " he would be in jail for all of the dozens of assaults he regularly does.

Down 4-0 with 10 seconds left, after the whistle, runs up and cross checks petterson in the back, then throw the gloves down and starts punching while complaining that his opponent isn't fighting back after being jumped.

The Avs employ Macdermid, who is just a hulking pylon. But he's an absolute monster and I watched him bully Wilson a year ago and it made the contract all worth it.

    Few things

Newly redesigned NHL app is absolute garbage, piece of shit, trash. Just stunningly bad. Unusable. Wow.

Austin Matthew's on pace for 246 goals?

Penguins are 2-1, but the issue last year was all the scoring was on the 1st and 2nd lines only, and so far all 11 goals are from rust/crosby/malkin/guentzal/smith

Well... there's a new one. It shouldn't surprise me, but moving joints will start scraping off acrylic primer!

Thinking about things this morning, I think I am realizing why I am having such trouble with this airbrush/priming and even painting stuff.

I like the feel of the raw plastic. It's smooth. And for all the painted pieces on my transformers, they also feel smooth and such. But working in acrylics, at least, it feels.. chalky and rough. I know this is partly due to not being finished (as I assume the varnish layer will help with that), but.. I guess I never thought much about how the experience of actually holding/manipulating the painted pieces would affect me.

Is that weird? Has anyone else encountered that? Maybe with minis, where I feel they aren't directly held so much?

Hmm. The smoothness of the surface is directly related to how shiny and glossy the surface appears, so paint that looks less shiny than bare plastic naturally would feel different to the touch. A lot of the point of painting models is to cover up the plastic look of the base material, so changing the texture is probably an unavoidable consequence unless you lay on such a thick layer of glossy varnish that it regains a smooth plastic luster.

So, not satisfied with conquering cinema. Marvel has decided to make Tv Shows set in their MCU.
This is a thread for discussing those shows.
    aka shows like
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dug56u8NN7g
    Or
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9EX0f6V11Y
    And maybe
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VYb3B1ETlk
You can even discuss the Netflix shows if you want.
    New for 2025
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yM7ECLIhsAc

Sure the What If will be released xmass 2024, but what if we count it as 2025?

This however is off limits as its obviously not a MCU show:

There may also be a factor of personal investment. I'm far less likely to mess around with posing on my painted models because I don't want them to break or shed paint (even after applying a top coat).

Loki is off to a pretty solid start this season. Only marvel show since Jessica Jones to have interested me. She Hulk had promise, but, got bogged down in trying to be too many things at once. Loki is the only one of the recent crop which has kept my attention solidly for a whole season. Honestly, the only multiverse related thing in general that I've enjoyed.

Well it does have Tom Hiddlestone and Owen Wilson. A buddy cop duo I would never have thought off and they pull it of amazingly.

In light of the article the other day about the problems with the Marvel shows in terms of how they are being done, is anyone who has been watching at ALL surprised? I'm pretty confident we've even talked about it from pretty early on in the conception of D+ Marvel TV that these were just like, expanded movies.

It's a shame too; they came out of the gate hot with Wandavision, which utilized it's episodic format in a way that really wouldn't work as well in a film, IMO.

Closest we've gotten since then was What If? and that was a (mostly) anthology series.

Secret Invasion was obviously fucked by this set-up. It spent far to much time on shit that was of no consequence and its big action sequences(the Motorcade attack) was hurt by not being the focus an act, but only the climax of an episode. There where too many pointless diversions that played no part in the overall story(the sequences on the sub for one if you can remember).

The more I think about it, the more I wonder how much of the leak of Marvel's TV process was a combination of "no really, Secret Invasion was a fluke, things will be better now" and ass-covering post-strike. I suspect one of the things the studio agreed to was a protected showrunner and writer's room setup. Granted their old method was borderline insane and it's a minor miracle She-Hulk worked as well as it did, then again even with the method their results were pretty strong.

Eh, the dude just discovered his entire existence, which he thought was divinely instigated and unimpeachably just, was a complete sack of horseshit. Let him deal with one giant mindscrew at at time.
