the problem is vs discard is that you have to predict when and where they are going to play specific cards since discard doesn’t really care about what lane it plays in, so doesn’t have much difficulty playing around a cosmo

I tried my hand at pizza making for the first time!

    6hf5yjpwa64j.png

came out looking and tasting pretty good

Used the Kenji-lopez alt recipe for pizza dough and sauce baked in a 500 degree oven for 15 minutes on top of parchment paper on top of a flipped upside down cast iron. Definitely need a bigger cooking surface because the crust is too thick and the sauce might be a little too sweet? Also need to use not pre shredded mozz. But overall, very easy, fun, definitely a go to for the future. And I have two more dough balls in the fridge and extra sauce so I can make two more of these!

Did You also use Kenji's pizza sauce recipe?

Yes, more or less. I didn't have all the stuff and had to sort of fiddle as I went but it ended up pretty good, if maybe a little too sweet.

And yeah this went so well I think a pizza steel is in my future

That's true. I used to run Goose as well to control the MODOK play, but then I feel like I'm teching too hard against one architype.

Korean player, BBAK, reached rank 1 using Mr. Negative.

First off, thanks to everyone who weighed in on what to do about my frozen ass bath tub drain. Fortunately, the lack of further spates of -20 - -40F weather this winter rendered the whole thing moot, and I'll just be proactive about clearing next winter if there's a similar cold snap.

You can replace thermostats, heating elements, and possibly even burners for gas fired versions.

Replace the anode every 5 years or so and it'll last you a good long time.

    I don't think a flush helps much.

Really depends on your water. I've been on thoroughly treated city water at my last couple of places and when I flushed the heater nothing came out. but other water sources can be gunkier and actually have stuff that accumulates.

Anyway, onto a new question! I'm installing a couple of new easier to use toilets for my parents (getting old sucks, I don't know why we agreed to this!) and man, I fucking hat wax rings. Has anyone used or seen one of these before and how well they worked? https://www.amazon.com/Fluidmaster-7530P8-Universal-Better-Wax-Free/dp/B00R7D35TQ/

If this means in x-many years I'm (or someone else) not dealing with another crappy old wax ring, that'd be awesome. So long as this thing isn't worse. :P

I used something similar a few years back to replace a leaking wax ring. No problems since.

Still deciding on picking up War Machine or not. Seems like an all-around good card like Iron Lad. Probably will end up getting him.

The problem though is that the next 2-3 months of cards look really powerful or fun. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

How often should one check the seal?

I haven't in the 6+ years we've been here and I have concerns about the quality of the previous work done.

If you don't notice any problems, then it's probably okay. If the toilets not loose, or rocking, or you notice any weird things then the wax ring is probably okay. If it's a cheap, thin wax ring, and older installation, and you need to plunge the toilet vigorously, that can break it. Also if the toilet base isn't caulked (and I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be as best pratcie) and you've got water exposure near it (bathtub and splashy kids, dripping shower traffic, or stuff like that, moisture can get under the toilet and linger around too.

Really, the most difficult part about toilet work is they're heavy and installation areas can be stupid cramped. I just checked youtube for a 'how to' video to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything, and he's even using the same seals I was looking at. XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIvN2s2DjNA Absolutely have disposable carboard to put the toilet down

I hope I'll be dead of old age before having to do anything with these toilets again, so I'm sure a heavy duty wax ring would be fine. I just don't like wax rings from the number of flanges I had to pick nasty, crumbly residue out of while working dorm maintenance in college. Fucking football player res halls...

Holy shit. I have reached Infinite rank. I would not have called that back when I started playing this seriously in December. I've played online card games before, but I've never been particularly good at any of them. Mostly because I keep losing my nerve and quit playing until the rankings reset.

So here's the CL 1,443 deck that got me there:

Nebula - Medusa, Armor, Psylocke - Ironheart, Wolfsbane - Wong, Absorbing Man, Enchantress - White Tiger - Doctor Doom, Odin

As I've mentioned before in this thread, this deck's primary wincon is Wong/White Tiger/Odin. If that doesn't look like it's going to happen one can still wing it, or retreat early.

Nebula is there for some early points, to get the opponent focussed on a location, or to thin my deck by getting deleted by an opponent's Yondu. Armor and Enchantress are mild protection against Destroy and Ongoing decks. Medusa and Wolfsbane are here because while White Tiger is great at spreading points to other locations, she sucks at getting points at her own location, so Medusa and Wolfsbane are there to buff up the White Tiger location (especially if I've got Odin).

Psylocke is going to get cut once I get Crystal or Magik. Ramping out Wong a turn early is great and ramping out Doctor Doom a turn early if I haven't drawn Wong or White Tiger yet is also helpful sometimes, but honestly she doesn't quite do enough to justify her continued presence in my deck.

I don't agree with the stuff against Ify but it does seem... odd that they did a themed guest episode without tailoring their questions to the things they'd actually know a lot about.

I'm having great luck with the Absolute Units deck MNC Dover posted a while back:

    Nebula
    Zero
    Zabu
    Armor
    Jeff!
    Cosmo
    Attuma
    Cull Obsidian
    Sentry
    Typhoid Mary
    Professor X
    Skaar

The tech cards are there to mitigate the drawbacks of the 4/10 cards, but they're also great to jam up destroy and discard, as well as protect from Shang-Chi.

It is unfortunately a problem that is pretty inescapable. They don't have the pull to lock in talent so you can't tailor craft the questions to just the contestants you already have booked. See one of the wrestling episodes for a great example of what issues that can cause. Someone clearly dropped out so they got who they could last minute and he made a big show about how little he knew. Even if they stuck to their reliable cast (which has different issues) even they might book something that is just too good to pass up. Especially since, as far as I know, very few of their talent are full time staff members.

Yeah, that "lots of big units" deck still does surprisingly well. Managed to dodge most of the recent nerfs. Prof X is a bit of a liability this week while WM is still hot, but Armor does a lot of work when Destroy is popular.

It’s not like the show’s some unworkable or unproven premise. There have been eight good seasons! They just need to zero in their recent questions to get back to the balance of nerdiness/bullshittery that’s worked before.

There can be a general reason why the sewage pipe is on the outside of a house, because a structure was built well before it would've been installed inside the house and was added later. Since that was the common method going forward after retrofitting all the existing structures when indoor plumbing became common, it remains the standard in a lot of cases

Caulking the base is best general practice because that seam between toilet and floor is going to want to wick in fluid that ends up around it. That can be spillover from the bath/shower or other stuff. If it's a generally low use for just a couple of adults, then probably no problem, but most of the time when something goes wrong and the seal leaks, nothing leaks out around the base of the toilet. The leaking is all going around the flange and into the flooring, so lack of caulk doesn't help at all.

Yeah but at least with that episode it was clear they were trying. I'd bet these contestants knew a LOT about drag history and they could have gotten a really solid episode out of that so I just don't see why they asked three people who clearly don't know much about comics about comics.
