So I was wondering if the Lavos augment would let him get away with giving himself guaranteed electric procs on his melee attacks and be able to exploit Melee Influence with it.

The answer to that question is yes.

I also feel extremely dumb for not intuiting that the Parasitic Vitality augment for Nidus would be mutually exclusive with other Vitality mods.

After wrapping up Lies of P (excellent) I moved on to Lords of the Fallen (not... as excellent. As the other one). Currently struggling through it, extremely frustrating combat and sloppy controls, but really cool setting, fun environments to explore, and some neat lore. Visually stunning, even moreso than Lies. Also a really huge game, I peeked at a boss list and I'm like only halfway through it after a few weeks of playtime. I wish it had Lies' exact combat, I think I'd like it a lot more.

Still thinking of making Eldan Ring the next Soulslike after this, I hope it's closer to Lies than Lords.

Yeah, Lords of the Fallen is middling, on par with the first set of 'good' Soulslikes like The Surge or Nioh 1, while Lies of P is peak on par with a FromSoft game (without the caveat I give my other favorite Soulslike, Code Vein, which I enjoy as much as a FromSoft game despite it not truly being on their level).

Getting near the end of Lunacid, I think that while it's really cool and well worth the money and a playthrough if you enjoy exploration and finding new spells and weapons and thinking hmm, is that somewhere I can go instead of just a death pit/bit of environment?, the gameplay and combat is severely lacking.

Enemies sometimes have gimmicks and do unique things, but it's not balanced or tuned enough for them to matter at all outside of matching your element to their weakness. The two bosses I've fought (I'm pretty sure there are only, like, three total) I just walked up to and charge attacked to death because nothing else was really worth doing, etc.

Everything else is stellar, though, so it's still above a game like Ashen IMO, where it's a cool first impression and art style and nothing else.

I'm debating whether I want to poke around in Elden Ring some more next, revisit Code Vein since it's been a while, pick up Wo Long, or get back into Lords of the Fallen now that it's had more time to cook.

War Machine’s problem is that he’s one turn. You can’t actually get into your own Prof X lane without gimping your earlier turns to ramp. For his 4 cost it should last the whole game.

So unless Zabu, when would you play him and alongside what? Decks with the Maw don’t need him because they already Zero’d or Sauron’d.

Play turn 5 wherever you want with Jean on the board maybe.

His cost/power and one-turn wonder just make him awkward for me to consider fitting in anywhere. Jeff! is just a better include in every way, and every case for War Machine I can think of would almost rather be Legion instead.

    2 tbsp per the recipe

430g of all purpose flour. it's all I have and the bag is almost full still

this batch held up better but I'd love to nail it down

ah yeah. Like blake said, bread flour will probably help the texture - also that seems like quite a lot of sugar, relative to flour. 2 teaspoons, i could maybe see.

(I've also made a lot of bread with regular ol flour without having cakey issues, but also I usually use a no-knead recipe with a very long rise, a wet dough, and no added sugar at all - so there's a lot of variables at play there).

I don't think WM is the next big thing, but definitely a strong flex/tech card. A perfect card for when lockdown gets out of hand.

I've seen a few deck ideas out there using him are:
    • WM into Hope T5 -> Infin + Ebony (standard package)
    • Magik T3 -> Hope T4 -> whatever T5 into Hope -> Wave + WM T6 -> Infin + Taskmaster (max memes)
    • Hope T3 -> WM into Hope T4 -> Infin T5 -> Task + Armor if Infin in Hope T5 (Shuri alt win con)
    • WM T5 -> Infi/Giganto (BK Discard)
    • Storm -> Cyclops -> WM (High Evo)

He's definitely not game breaking, but a good card. Kind of nice to not have a super spike power level card after some of the last few weeks.

lockdown doesn't even use prof x since his nerfs and mm nerfs.

so you're really going hard just to avoid storm, and there's a lot of better cards to accomplish that without having to have wm in your deck.

There was also a can of peach slices in there, and some Italian sausages in her freezer from 2021. So that was a good time. All in all, threw out enough expired food to fill her 60 gal garbage can, including like maybe 5 items that were not expired.

this is not terribly surprising to me, pineapples are so acidic. I've seen this happen to ancient cans of tomatoes forgotten on a pantry shelf too.

I love how much the intrepid heroes go all in on being possessed by Baron. They know exactly what to say to embody that character, and also they don't hold back!

I also love some of the Greatest Hits from previous seasons, like (obviously) Romance Partner, Edgar the Rat, Gilear's little "totems" (like the rideshare app card and cottage cheese).

Also, that CLUTCH Mindless Rage from Gorgug. My god. That'll go down in the history just like Operation Slippery Puppet or Murph casting Knock.

Speaking of Murph... relying on him to roll poorly was so hilarious.

And the preview for next week has the intrepid heroes wasting two questions from Speak with the Dead on "Sup?" :D

It looks like the free Dex Nikana is actually pretty strong. It's weaker than the Nikana Prime, but not that much weaker, and it's way stronger than the base Nikana. This kind of surprised me after how heavily the Dex Dakra were gutted in the melee rework.

The new Disruption mission (Armatus) seems OK.

Yes. The droprate for Dante/Onos/Ruvox parts is abyssmal, but it's OK for Neo/Axi relics and the Capillaries used to buy the stuff in the shop drops at an OK rate (10-12 per round)

Almost. The node layout means that there is a bit of extra work to get between nodes, but it's pretty fast and Necramech demolisher are relatively sedate compared to some of the other factions Demolishers. Difficulty level is definitely below Lua.

P.S: Either that or my gear has become much better than when I was chasing Demolishers on Lua.

One of this year's new shows is going to be a Jackbox - Talking Points/TED Talk-esque thing where the usual suspects of Dropout present Powerpoints that they make up. During the pandemic, my friends and I had a series of "Turt Talks" (like TED Talks, but with our Turtle mascot) where we presented Powerpoint presentations about any topic that interested us, from Pokemon to cartography. This has a very similar vibe, and it's probably going to be even more entertaining.

They SHOULD give Erika Ishii a Gundam. Just sayin'.

Well the original show did this just the same, but also they would come back to stuff later in the season or in a different season.

They did the entire DOFP arc in like two episodes

    It’s very much in keeping

To be fair, DoFP was originally 2 issues.

In regards to the Murph roll, that was a huge risk, because they've established before - Murph doesn't roll low, he rolls poorly. But he clutched that one out.

Nioh 1 is its own peak in an entirely separate genre. It's more character action than souls, with an extremely high skill ceiling. How much you like it will depend on how much you like skill ceilings. There are certainly dedicated fans who think Fromsoft combat is pretty shallow but love the shit out of TN's "souls likes". Both sides are valid, each game caters to different interests.

Lunacid looks sick and I am gonna check it out.

I'll admit that combo execution as the barrier to skill expression is rough for me. I'm consistently worse at combos than anyone at my rank in every fighting game I play, I survive entirely on other strengths.

But the thing with Nioh 1 in particular is that you can do the crazy skill ceiling thing...but it's not actually optimal in most cases. Focusing everything into a single spammable active skill that'll hit like a machine gun firing nukes is more powerful than doing crazy flux combos. And that's ignoring how ridiculously powerful your super mode is in Nioh 1 with trivial 100% uptime for it. Also enemy variety is fairly lacking, strongly favoring humans.

Comparing Nioh to Souls is kind of like God Eater gameplay vs Monster Hunter, actually; it feels like you can do more cool things in the former, but it's just for fun because what's optimal is just hitting with your one good skill over and over and over while the enemy stands there and dies. Which you can do in MH or in Dark Souls, but generally comes with a speedrunner level of mastery rather than being something most players will be doing midway through the game.

Also the loot, man the ARPG loot flavor just doesn't mix well with other genres for me, especially since it makes exploration and finding hidden chests feel way less satisfying in both games.

Nioh 2 has way better enemy variety and makes you engage with the gameplay more, at least earlier on. It still never clicked for me quite right, but I still want to go back to it sometimes.

Yeah I know man, I know. That's your personality, it doesn't match. I recently talked to someone with 5000 hours in Nioh 1, who did the entire metagame, every single thing it's possible to do, and then the same again in Nioh 2, only even more time (they do like Nioh 2 more). I'm in a discord server with a ton of action game absolute fanatics and they do things that blow my mind.

Just, trying to give some perspective, is all.

    Hm, yeah, I know?

And obviously Nioh 2 in particular has something going on, or I wouldn't have 600 hours in it and be eyeing it in my Steam library, thinking about reinstalling it yet again, a game that's damn near tailor-made to be Not For Me while being adjacent to something that would be For Me.

Stranger of Paradise is significantly worse. It has an insane post game loot grind and builds are total king, you must have them and then you must grind for special super items in the post post endgame super dungeon thing its, yeah, it's worse.

It's very frustrating because the combat is INSANE but hoo boy they went nuts on the loot in this one.

Huh, weird! I was going on Pat from CSB hating Nioh loot so much he could barely play it but seeming to have enjoyed Stranger of Paradise, but I haven't played it myself yet to know.

I wonder what made the difference for him.

Weirdest thing about that quest is that
Anri is fine and fine with it, apparently; they're there in the crowd the Usurpation of Fire ending. Wearing their armor if you didn't buy it for yourself, just a nondescript hollow if you did.

I did one of the new void rifts in an Alchemy mission, and it was an experience. On the first 3 waves, the enemy spawn rate was abysmal. On the fourth wave, the host dropped, and the spawn rate went to something pretty decent. On the fifth wave, the spawn rate completely flipped out. We went from having trouble doing the objective due to lack of drops to having trouble doing the objective because the drops were difficult to spot through the tiny gaps in the mass of enemies.
