Amazon's premium content is extremely bipolar in its quality. Some shows are extremely good -- like Reacher and The Boys -- and other shows are terrible -- like Rings of Power and Wheel of Time. You never really know what to expect from them. Let's hope it's more like the former, if they're even allowed to make Bond content at all. Amazon owns MGM Studios, which holds the rights to Bond films and distribution. But the Broccoli family (yes, that's a real name), are the trustees and heirs to the Ian Fleming estate, and they have (had) final authority on any Bond projects that are created. And my understanding is that Mrs. Broccoli is not all that keen on the idea of Amazon creating shovelware streaming content. In other words, it sounds to me as if she's doing a good job as the steward of the brand. I wish the stewards of JRR Tolkien's estate were a bit more like her, to be honest.

But I guess just very recently that status has changed. Which is disappointing. I guess money and greed win in the end over creative moral purity.

Let's just hope the Amazon Bond is more like Reacher and less like Rings of Power.

And I disagree with you on your assessment of both Rings of Power and Wheel of Time, so I remain hopeful

Can't be worse than the current nadir of Bond films (he says, rashly)

Anything worse than Die Another Day or Octopussy will at least be interesting

But the most likely outcome is that a minor change will be made to a character's race or gender and any actual criticism of stuff like plot will be drowned out by the angry bellows of YouTube shitwits

As someone whose been a fan of wheel of time since I was like, 8 years old, i think i started reading the first book back in 1993. I'll never forgive them for what they did to my boy and/or trust them with anything. Even if they have the occasional show i love (invincible comes to mind)

Die Another Day is firmly in the "so bad it's good" category IMO. It's almost a parody of a Bond film, with great action scenes, a bizarre but comprehensible plot, ridiculous gadgets, and Jinx is still my favorite femme fatale of all the movies. It's a great "turn your brain off and enjoy the cheesy puns, hot women, and explosions" kinda movie.

I dunno, i saw it recently, i didn't find it good, but it wasn't over the top enough in its badness to go into "so bad it's good". Maybe, the same movie, but with more camp and ham would have done it. As is, it was just... a movie...that exists... with some entertaining moment

My opinion is that Skyfall is the greatest of all Bond movies. But also, it’s the least “normal” Bond movie that there is, and that might be why I like it so much. Because it bucks most of the series staples and trends.

Skyfall is basically Home Alone but with murder.

All in all, I liked the Craig era. I know some lament the loss of most of the gadgets, but the Fleming books were never big on the gadgets anyway.

I've recently been re-watching some of the Roger Moore movies. They are entertaining in their own way, but I feel the more modern movies have more robust stories.

I also have been a fan of the series since I first read it (well, the 5 books that existed at the time) in 4th grade. I love the show.

I used to love arguing about what all the events could mean in future books with every new one, my friends and I came up with some cockamamy ideas. I couldn't stomach going through the first episode. It was such a violation of things I loved so much that I couldn't continue regardless of any inherent qualities it may have. I've been reading the hobbit and lotro since gradeschool and had a much easier time enjoying rings of power even though it also didn't comport with my inner world.
