I don't get what they're trying to say here lol
Yeah
Dang
Ps don't feel guilty that's on me
I glance back over when I hear music or see a different animation style, and those moments are all great. Just the other 80% or so of the show is just...not grabbing me.
It might win me over in the second half, I guess we'll see. That's happened before, on shows I would've otherwise dropped if I was watching alone.

Yeah, sorry for reacting like I did yesterday to you not liking Bocchi.

In the manga?
I am amazed that Oda can still come up with new designs (and names) for characters; I was curious, so I went looking, and according to the list of all the canon characters on the one piece wiki, there's 1,372 of them, and 43 named groups. Amazingly, the equivalent list for naruto has 1,438 entries, so I guess one piece doesn't hold the record.
In other Shonen Jump stuff, it's confessions all over the place this week; Witch Watch is all about making increasingly over-elaborate plans for one,
(spoiler removed, sorry)
(between those there's the standard sort of "I became a rakugoka so I could beat you" panel, so this is very much the shonen "you are my rival" sort of thing, but even so...)
Yeah.

Oh, no worries. If I didn't want a reaction or conversation, I'd just not say anything.
Like for the current Monday show I don't like, I never thought I'd like it, so there's nothing for me to discuss there.

oh, sorry about that, I've marked it as a spoiler to avoid anyone else getting spoiled; I guess I didn't realise people wouldn't have read the one-shot version of the story (edit: for reasons I won't go into here just to be on the safe side)
(edit: yeah, now I look at what I wrote I realise that for people that are also reading it, I did probably the worst possible job of trying to talk about what happened without actually saying what happened, that was a bad move on my part, sorry)
Gunnode looks like they’re screaming with that sensor configuration
I also loved how they remixed one of the main themes with different instrumentation to reflect the Love Hashira's personality.
The music has been outstanding. There's multiple version's of Tanjiro's Constant Flux as well.
The pacing at the end was a little bad, but tune in next week for the finale! I'm wondering if it will be double length like last season. I can't remember how much of this arc is left.
I get irritated at this tendency for sci-fi mech anime to treat their technology like they have no fucking clue how it works.
Like, "we build this big-ass robot, but it sucks the life out of its pilots and also only works for some pilots and we don't know why"
Like it's some alien artifact that they just found and are having to figure out. Did they build this fucking thing or not? If they did, why would they build a fucking weapon of war that only works for the random "chosen one" or whatever.
Oh also it's totally for exploration and the betterment of humanity, pay no attention to all the weapons systems on-board.
I dunno, the woo woo quasi-mystic shit just bugs me.
Interesting note on that spoiler (spoiler for WFM21)
Also some of reddit have mad speculation that Calibarn will turn out to have Nadim hiding in it. I'm doubtful for various reasons, but it's certainly an interesting theory.
I also like how much this gives a lie to the well, everything, around gundams - SAL has just been sitting on this Gundam all this time, etc. It's fucking great

In this case
As shown at least, idk maybe they have some magic stuff to reveal still it’s literally just a problem of scale; tying a robot hand to your brain stem can let your brain control the hand. Tying a giant hand to your brain stem has proportionally more connections and simulated nerves/impulses/strain.
Vanadis was working to try to reduce/remove that strain because people had already taken their medical tech and turned it into weapons
This is my understanding as well
Also
Hell, we have stuff like carbon nanotubes where we know a chunk of stuff, yet keep running into issues when we scale it up.
Further to that: Gundams in this setting show some level of sentience. Lfrith was definitely "alive" to some degree, given it only wakes up and starts working after it's talked to by another child. - but the Lfrith Pre-production models worked fine, so there's clearly a difference in the level of technology implemented. Further to that, we have proof that Permet enables the level of information density to support consciousness.
And well, we still don't have anywhere approaching a full idea of how the fuck our own brains work.
So yeah, I don't find "we built this tech, but we don't understand it fully" unbelievable at all. Especially not when it gets more and and more advanced

They just know if they do x, y happens consistently. Sometimes z happens, and then they try to work out why (they have no idea why).
As long as a show gets across the predictability of the technology, it's pretty in line with reality.
I would actually say, in this case, and I mean this gently, that the complaint comes from a somewhat distorted lack of awareness of how quite a lot of stuff works that you'd probably be pretty terrified to know we don't fully understand.
Like how wings generate lift. We can get it to happen consistently, and we can even model it. But the maths doesn't add up to a real explanation.
It just works.
70 000+ flights per day, and the math doesn't add up.
edit: I hope nobody with a fear of planes was about to take a flight, maybe I should spoil that?
edit: Oh yeah and we regularly use Newtonian physics for a lot of orbital calculations and it's completely the wrong model. Like we don't even know how gravity works for real, but stuff gets put on mars, cos it is at least predictable. The real world actually kinda is quasi magical when you look at it hard enough.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/no-one-can-explain-why-planes-stay-in-the-air/
The engineering mathematical models are solid.
The actual explanation of how it really works is still in dispute, with competing models and different researchers arguing for the one they like the best.

A computer ended up creating a impressively small circuit which curiously, featured a part that didn't seem to do anything and wasn't connected to the rest of the circuit.
Get rid of it, and the entire circuit stopped working. No one has a clue why this is, just some guesses about weird physical priorities. The computer that designed it had no idea either, because it can't know things. Literal black box technology. It works, but we don't know why, despite being the ones who built it

Its honestly fully justified here.
Vaguely reminded of the Load Bearing Random JPG in countless video games
Does it do anything? No! Does the entire thing freak the hell out and stop working if you remove it? Oh hells yes.
Meanwhile, a WFM21 spoiler got fan art already that’s really good:
Their shading style feels so influenced by Gyobu’s, that Super stark contrast and heavy use of flat colors that just pops
