    Dandadan chapter 128:
Jesus Christ. So much going on.

Onion-cutting ninjas stabbing me right in the heart. What a reconciliation.

A madman author going as hard as humanly possible!

    Incredible paneling showing poignant emotion.

E: Also we're somehow now Mad Max Fury Road.

Really wish the anime rumors coalesce into an anime adaptation announcement, but it's going to need one hell of studio, and hopefully one that doesn't murder its animators.

I was just thinking a little moment like this even would be really tough to animate without using some clunky CG

    Ok Iruma-Kun is p good

I love how every scene involving the Valac family turns into a Von Trapp Family Singalong

The anime version does a great job with all of the music, particularly with the Valac family. There's also a bit during the amusement park arc where it turns into Synphogear for an episode.

Well, not every anime live-action adaptation can be as good as Fist of the North Star...

Well, it's just Mad Max if it starred Bruce Lee. You'd have to try to fuck up a live adaptation of that.

Clara is kind of A Best(tm). The competition for best girl in Iruma-kun is fairly stiff, but she wins it without effort, and the Valac family is excellent.

One thing about Iruma that really caught my attention is that every single one of the families shown are single-parent households. I don't think it's ever been brought up in the manga but I think its a really nice touch for a world that didn't have a word for "friend"

watched some MF Ghost, it was kind of a slow start, lots of character development early on, so much that I was starting to wonder if they'll ever get in a car. Then the race starts and it's like three episodes of non stop Initial D driving. Fucking awesome!

Oh and speaking of Eurobeats I also got the urge to check out the original Baki the Grappler series. Mainly because I wanted to know who half these rando karate men are in the series and where the hell they all come from.
Man I love how 90s anime intros are completely tonally disjointed from the anime.
    https://youtu.be/ZlH6jslXpYY?si=1F0sJTRByshJ6VzY
    Man this slaps!

I don't know much about the production of the show but it looks like they switched animation studios halfway through, I know there was an OVA but the animation changed quite a bit after it, not too bad but they did lose the great intro and got this turd instead:
    https://youtu.be/qwHt2TAUCxY?si=yVCwUhoupIxQzeyZ
I mean, just look at that 90s CG... yikes! Just a good thing they kept the animation traditional in the actual episodes.

Yeah, Clara's dad is not around due to working in the demon world uh... government and what exactly he does is some sort of secret.

Finished the first season of Faraway paladin. That was good! I think my favourite character was either Bagley or Bee.

Bagley it was just nice to have a religious character who a: Wasnt a horrible asshole, and b: actually had a philosphy and awareness about things. Even if you get the sense it's a little self serving in that he really is that cantankerous, it's also very neat in how he's clearly thought long and hard about what to do with the power vested in him, how to use it, and what best to use it for.

Also that he dosent just stop being cantakerous when we find this out, nope, he's gonna be EVEN MORE CANTANKEROUS

and Bee's just great. Really wholesome series, i enjoyed that a whole bunch

Hobbit, but honestly darker at the start what with the dwarves having nearly suffered a genocide at the dragon's hands.

And a better set of hero's than in the Hobbit, or at least, more morally upstanding.

    Eminence S2E6:
The first 6 minutes or so with Delta had me in stitches. She steals every scene she's in. Cid's reaction to everything she says, while she ignores him, was hilarious.

On the other hand, I actually felt bad for Alpha this time. She is 100% sincerely devoted to Cid for saving her life, thinks she's inadequate and unable to repay him, and he thinks this is all a game the two of them are playing. Alpha's VA's performance was genuinely heart wrenching. To say nothing of the animation of the fight, which was brilliant.

Then Yukime lays her super serious and sad backstory on Cid, and his only thought is maybe remembering if that time was actually him? The weaving of over the top serious and patently ridiculous was very strong this week.

The after credits scene ties in to this week's Kage-Jitsu as well.

Instant Death manga's been getting new translations since the announcement of the anime and wow the author just straight up does not give a fuck about introducing a ton of brand new characters just to kill them off nigh-instantly.

It still ain't really a good story but it's shit like him
casually wiping the entire army of Heaven
    that makes this fun.

More ice skating content from Viz; reading Dogsred, I thought the eyebrows looked familiar, and, yup, it's the guy that did Golden Kamuy. Also, it has a fairly different approach than Two On Ice:

All caught up with Dogsred (edit: spelling), and yeah, that's the good stuff right there; it just feels really, I dunno, polished? Expertly told? The pacing of the matches is great, the buildup to dramatic sequences is well done, it just seems like it's been made by someone that definitely knows what they're doing.

I appreciate the way there's arrows in some of the panels to make the direction of motion clearer, because I am bad at visually parsing action sequences at the best of times and hockey has a lot of very fast movement to keep up with.

(Also, it's not just eyebrows that are familiar, it's got the same sorts of real-world accuracy as Golden Kamuy, too, at least as far as location goes:

As someone who keeps up with the manga: yup, Faraway Paladin's only real interaction with being Isekai is using it to explain how Will is so mature from being a tiny kid, and very occasionally to give him some feelings of inadequacy. It could absolutely just have been a normal fantasy series with zero isekai and nothing about it would change.

Bee and how seriously she takes barding is great. Really nice take on the Bard/storyteller archtype.

maybe it's just me and my enjoyment of slow paced series, but this is great. Genuinely surprised it's flown under the radar so much. Probably the only unrealistic part is... everyone's so far a fundamentally decent person. Which you know what? Fuck it, it's nice to have something upbeat.

One thing that amuses me, as a Tolkien fan, is how blatantly the author just... uses names from Tolkien works that maybe the Japanese audience doesn't know, but you get a feeling he DOES know what they mean.

Will's best friend is Meneldor, who in Middle Earth is an eagle and brother of Gwaihir. The elf hero Telperion, who in Middle Earth is one of the Two Trees of Valinor. Valacirca, who, well, you'll see.

    It never stops being amusing.

Also yes, Bee is the best.

If you're gonna crib names Tolkien is the best to crib them from.
