Manga spoilers for end of the arc:
Now give me a broken Kuma card please
Almost everything else I glanced at today I nope'd out of at 5 minutes. Maybe I missed some genius show in the... three barely animated reincarnations in RPG world things, but I've already had my fill for the next three months.
Oh, and there was a Fruits Basket clone that was... certainly another shoujo anime in that exact vein.
Yes it's just like a remix of the first ED, but I do think it's probably a better mix. And like in the first ED the visuals are spectacular.
edit: Apparently they're just the first and second halves of a single song.
And hey, thanks to Delicious in Dungeon coming out, for one day this week I got double the SungWon Cho, and I'm glad for that because he seems like a good dude.

Oh yeah. Well, people still voted for it. :P
I have way too many shows bookmarked this season. I doubt I'll get through half.

can someone tell me what the heck Eminence in Shadow is about tho? I see it around a lot but have no idea what it's about or if it's actually broadly good or just merely appealing to certain folks

I imagine the Reze arc is going to do gangbusters here.
It's about a delusional guy from regular earth who wants to LARP as the Eminence in Shadow, which he views as a behind the scenes puppet master that drives the plot of a story separate from the main characters in that story, without those characters knowing. He is insanely talented and dedicated to his LARPing, and pursues magic in the real world to this end, and ends up getting isekai'd because of it.
In his isekai world, he picks up where he left off with his LARPing, only the world he's in actually has magic, so he's able to live out all his pretend fantasies. He gathers a bunch of friends and they all decide to LARP together and he puts a bunch of pretend performances, except...
It is equal parts awesome played straight and hilarious parody, and got a huge animation budget to boot with a talented cast.
Unfortunately, it has a rather weak ending, so after constant health issues of the artist, multiple hiatuses, and irregular chapter release schedule it seems like publisher announced "just finish it already" and so they did.
While the story ends, I do not think any fans of the series are satisfied with how it ends.
this is extremely perplexing and yet it still compels me
The show remains good and fun.
Main Character, Sunraku, is good and fine. He's very much a gamer and that love of games and community kinda comes through this episode. Pencilgon is my favorite character tho. She's so cool!
Oikatzo is quite cool too. The anime does a good job of navigating the character without running into any major pitfalls or tropes of grossness.
Yeah the new opening is a lot more generic and seems less well animated to boot.
ooof. I just watched it in the lastest episode. It's just Ok. Vibes are very slice of life and comfy, which isn't bad. But also doesn't at all bring up the show. I do like the paper art play feelings of the stills, but it's also going to come off cheap looking when compared to the gorgeous and faster-paced first opening. Just lots of still shots. They're well drawn, but wow does it come off poorly when put up against the first opening.
My rating, if this were the only/first opening; it'd be good. Because it isn't, it's just basic.
Except for maybe UBW.
Yeah. That is true. I just loved the song and animation of the first opening.
Watch episode 2, it'll explain basically every relevant conceit. Episode 1 is more of a backstory episode that sets up for things later in the first season; all you need for episode 2 is the basic background of the main character.
The other thing that maybe gets more people interested in it than the premise might explain is that the main producer really liked the original material and had novel ideas for how to organize and present its concepts through visual storytelling. He was working on the season 1 finale from the time the season started and by all appearances also got the production staff hyped up to put on a show.

I agree with skipping the first episode if you want to get an idea of the show. I think the events in episode 1 were covered in something
Ike chapter 45 or 50 of the manga, so it’s kind of weird that they decided to lead with that.
Yeah, that I can agree on.
second opening had some really good shots and it was very cool how they kept adding to it every couple of episodes, second ending was imo the single best ED of last year and yes i'm using this as an excuse to post the music video again
