Why are they doing all this? For television, of course! Dungeon runs are one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the galaxy, and there are quadrillions of viewers eager to watch the next batch struggle through a giant death trap run by a sadistic AI. In order to survive the dungeon (not beat it, don’t be silly, no one has ever or will ever win) it’s not enough to be strong, smart, or even lucky; you have to be entertaining.
Okay, so that’s the basic premise, but what makes the series shine is that it avoids a lot of the common pitfalls of the genre. For example, the MC never becomes superpowered enough to just breeze through all the encounters. Carl instead survives by the skin of his teeth, usually by out thinking his opponents with traps and tactics, not by virtue of getting the right powerups. And the story never forgets that the real enemy is capitalism the system itself, not his physical opponents.

FINALLY
These might be worth the price of admission alone.
It's been a longtime Japanese meme (夜食テロ, basically "Midnight snack terrorism") to post images of food to torment people. There have been a bunch of shows that are almost exactly that. Basically: "Hey, look! Food!" eg
This isn't a cute facebook clip or whatever, but something actually broadcast. (E: Sorry, wrong thing on clipboard)
Late night Japanese TV is weird, even outside of anime.
This is probably true. Don't read the series summary if you want to be surprised though since they spoil it in there.

Delicious in Dungeon: I already kinda touched on it, it's good. The character designs and pacing carried over properly, there's a specific cut that really plays into a certain expression's meme reputation. This series only gets better as you get to know the world and the characters, so some people might need to be more convinced. I assure any doubters that it's really great unless you just HATE all fantasy stories from the get go.
Solo Leveling: They should have reconsidered the release schedule to do at least the first two episodes at once. They also could have done a longer premiere, like how some shows are doing lately. For the extremely skeptical, there is literally nothing in the first episode to let you know to stick around a bit. All the interesting bits will start to turn up in episodes 2 and 3 (although it is still PRETTY generic, just fair warning). No sakuga or anything to speak of in episode 1, but it would be smart to save it for the things that will happen soon. On the plus side, competently put together, nothing horribly low budget or embarrassing here. Amusingly violent coming off of the extremely compromised Arknights I watched last season.
A Sign of Affection: I wasn't feeling the fluffy shojo vibes until the last part of the episode, which NAILED them. I've read the released manga volumes in this series so far, it's extremely wholesome and much less focused on strict gender roles as compared to the equally-desiring-to-be-wholesome Perfect World. One to watch if you just want a charming romance show this season.
I guess Kaiju No. 8 is in a later season this year, but this is enough stuff to keep me busy for a season (Frieren sticking around helps).
It's your typical 13-year-old's power fantasy bullshit. Put-upon loser is suddenly granted god-like cheat powers and the rest of the story is just reaction shots of how awesome he is while effortlessly defeating everything.
I'm not necessarily against that kind of stupid bullshit. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. I just don't think the manhwa did it very well.
Hopefully the anime can spice it up a little.
I hate how lazy the trope has gotten - where the background to the entire story is essentially just "ONE DAY, FOR NO REASON, THE WORLD TURNED INTO A VIDEO GAME".
soon
I love this manga so much. I hope it's a good adaption.
