Broadcast. Dramatic irony and reveals that don't play as reveals are discarded in chronological order.
A friend made sure I watched it in broadcast order and I'm very happy they did. Chronological order would probably not have made it bad, but it surely would have made it way worse.
And for those who haven't seen it the movie is also on crunchy and was great.
I'd be shocked if it's ending now.
Generally speaking, once a series is past 50+ chapters they don't seem to get cancelled, outside of health issues. (I really hope RuriDragon returns sometime!). But beyond that, it's been getting a lot of colour pages (Generally a sign the magazine likes it). Like a lot a lot. Not sure how it's doing on actual sales etc, but i'm pretty sure it's fairly safe.

Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. I am ecstatic. This is one of my favorite pieces of media ever. I can't think of anything more unlikely and yet completely deserving of getting adapted. This is going to wreck me.
Was just coming to post about that, here's the YouTube trailer
Edit: it's by the Flip Flappers director, let's fucking gooooo

And even this is no guarantee, since I had a non-anime fan friend of mine just bounce right the hell off of 'Perfect Blue'. His chief complaint was "why didn't they just film this in live-action if they aren't gonna animate it more?", because his primary exposure to anime is 'Akira' and quite frankly comparing animation quality to 'Akira' is going to be a losing proposition.
He also bounced off of 'Cowboy Bebop' (only did the first 5 episodes, and honestly if Ballad of Fallen Angels didn't hook him than nothing was gonna), so I think any future anime watches are going to be dependant of him saying "I'm curious about this, wanna watch?"

In general I tend to find the whole "anime is so weird, glowing anime recommendation only 90% caveats, blah blah" stuff in the internet kind of... I dunno, vaguely amusing?
Like I would consider something like Yurucamp or K-On or whatever to contain significantly less "bullshit" than like, your average live action american shown on tv. It's just more familiar to the people that post on the anglophone part of the internet. A good story will generally have people who have a modicum of an open mind be ready to engage it where it's at.
I mean hell, right this past week one of my coworkers, who had never watched anime beyond watching some DBZ as a kid (because, you know, I'm in Spain, an overwhelming majority of people within one generation of me on either side watched DBZ as kids), had another of my coworkers get him to watch Attack on Titan and he's currently absolutely hooked and has apparently devoured almost all of it in ten days, and it's not like AoT is exactly low on what people might consider "anime bullshit" - or being real, even that much of a good story.
I think Goodbye Eri would make a fantastic one, but this works too.
Goodbye Eri is basically a movie shot with manga panels. I hope to see it adapted some day as well.
This week's One Piece episode 1093 was incredible, especially contrasting with last week's clip shops. High highs, and low lows.
As a manga reader, the current anime arc (Shibuya Incident), kind of soured me on the series, so I'd put off watching it until this week, when I binged the whole thing.
What an absolute triumph of animation and visual storytelling. Mappa dropped a brick on the gas and did not let up for the entire arc. Just incredible.
What a travesty of labor rights. I now understand why so many animators were suicidal and sending out pleas for help over Twitter.
I'm convinced Mappa did more for JJK than Ufotable did for Demon Slayer. They were able to translate some decent fight choreography, messy art, and soso story into peak media.
I don't have faith in the author's plot, and the way he discards characters like used toys and introduces new ones is ridiculous. He had so many great female characters and decided to just not use them.
Finally I've been catching up on new Bleach: Thousand Year War. This series was always style over substance, and the new anime is capturing the style and making their strong points flourish. I like what they've done.
The photosensitivity-related dimming of certain scenes that could conceivably be triggers for people with epilepsy or other forms of photosensitivity
I usually don't, but some parts are so brightly lit in the Shibuya Arc that it was really obvious, like during the Dagon fight.
although strangely i felt it was kind of a benefit to the hype for certain scenes? like when you're playing a ps2 game and the framerate tanks because too much shit is popping off
You have to buy the Blu Ray, basically.
This was my first exposure to Nichijou, which I imagine is true for a lot of people. It's just so emblematic of the show's whole thing.
Same for song lyrics, for all three people who care about that.
Sometimes I do them myself, since I had no intention of buying the BRs, like for DRRR S2.

Even that show has some weird baggage from otome games and other shoujo fantasy genre works, like the weird focus on people randomly kidnapping her into slavery multiple times through the series
Princess Jellyfish, Haibane Renmei, and Eizouken are usually my go-to for shows that are femme-focused but not overtly anime-as-negative-adjective
Mushi-shi and OddTaxi are also very high on the general "but not too anime" list
The most anime-as-adjective thing my body can handle is probably Monogatari Series
Considering they can't get the sub vs dub thing right a lot of the time, I wouldn't want to risk someone having a seizure because the software fucked up.

*one of her breasts is bigger than the 17 year-old woman protagonist's head
Ehhhhh. There are a lot of parts of it that have a very rosy view of sexual slavery and various other human rights violations, which are definitely Bad Anime Things™ that anime in general struggles with. It's not SO bad about it as like, isekai with all their good child harem wife slave owners, but it is another case of good child wife slave owners. A lot is so needless too, like trying to be all dreamy over their interactions and then Jinshi will casually mention that he personally had the culprit from a week or two ago's entire extended family rounded up and executed when it could have just... said nothing at all. Thanks for the reminder of the war crimes being committed here, guys. I need that in the story as much as I'd need James Herriot bringing up how many cows he shoots in the face.
