The composition makes me think that Basara should wear a dress.
is he... the only male musical character in all of the macross series?
The use of Roundabout at the end was way more effective as such a trick.
Macross 7 is all about how much better Basara is at everything compared to every other character, including Mylene. I'm honestly surprised she made it on there next to him.
The show wears its influences on its sleeve.
It seems more likely the adventure and Dungeon Meshi are both drinking from the same influences. Ryoko Kui has not been shy about saying how much she fucking loves Wizardry and the old Baldur's Gate games and the like.
spoiler for big.
There's a mad archmage at the bottom of the dungeon.
Be it Zagyg Yragerne (Castle Greyhawk),
or Halaster Blackcloak (Undermountain),
or Werdna (Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord),
or the Wizard of Yendor (Rogue)...
Let's just say that it's an idea with a long and storied history behind it, and Ryoko Kui might've gotten it from... anywhere, really. Probably some Wizardry-like? It cannot be overstated just how hugely influential Wizardry was in Japan, it's kind of amazing. (Here's a fun YouTube video essay on Wizardry's influence.)
But yeah, Kui's into fantasy RPGs to no-one's great surprise.
that was kind of a trend for a while there

Given the hell of a wakeup call Oda (who has had his own health issues) just got - it's about time he took some time for himself.
And in your reminder that academia are some of the most anti-labor motherfuckers around, Dartmouth tells the players "fuck you", refuses to negotiate with the union:
Every. Fucking. Time.
It's a culture built on people being expected to accept being shat on because the perk of seniority is that you get to be the shitter.
Nope!
EDIT: Spoilered cuz big.

I'd actually be very curious what the schedule for monthly manga creators looks like vs the sheer fucking insanity that is weekly manga creator's schedules.
I know on the western side of things the "Monthly, but it's full color" is not any where more sustainble than "Black and white, b ut it's weekly". Black and White monthly, Color every three months seems a lot healither - or Saga style where they do six months on, six months off type thing.

From what I understand, it's a bit more sane (you're expected to produce more pages, but not that much more, and you have more time to do so), which is one of the reasons most of the charting "Shonen Jump" titles are from their bi-weekly/monthly ancillaries.
Honestly, at this point the weekly model is unsustainable.
Hunger Games combined with musical chairs as jobs disappear and PhD programs continue to produce way more degrees than there are academic jobs.
The law school situation is crap, but at least it's theoretically possible to just pass the bar and hang out a shingle. A fair chunk of PhD programs' endpoints are either academia or something you could have been doing five years ago when you had a lot fewer grey hairs.
These kind of decisions would be made more by the administration types then the academics though. At least in my experience. It's not the department heads in arts or sciences or whatever making the call on student athlete unionization. This just seems like more standard C-suite thinking to me.
Also my experience is grad/TA/etc unions are alive and well and go hard.
Did the first one ever get a dub?
The TV series covered the first five novels, and the first movie covered the sixth and seventh novels. This looks to be covering the eighth and ninth novels.
Not being subtle. Like... you thought it wasn't before, but...
What is this series about anyway, a harem thing? All I have seen about it was "student in a playboy bunny costume"
