Everything I flipped through today seemed pretty bad, repetitive weird train show included, but it was also like 3.5 cheat power shows, so that's expected. Weirdly, three of them were cheat power reincarnation things where the dudes were various flavors of wizards who all had powers and just carried them over from one RPG skill world to another rather than the usual from Japan. Not that it's unusual, but three in a row kind of is. The best was... uh... "I Was the Reincarnated as the Seventh Prince so Now I have Time To Study Magic As Much as I Want" or something obnoxiously titled like that. Bad generic fanservice harem thing, but no slave women (yet), and shockingly well animated. Still generic cheat power shlock though. All the others were barely animated at all and just as schlocky, but more straight up power fantasy, both in grossness flavor and blandness. That "Games Gods Play" was also so horrendously unanimated and just people explaining rules and announcing how they're super geniuses to each other for twenty straight minutes. Not ironically as a source of humor, but in you're so cool, protagonist-kun.

Has there been an isekai yet about a stern Japanese manager who travels across dimensions to every fantasy world to hunt down isekai cheat protagonists and drag them back to Japan to get real jobs.

Speaking of typical overly long and wordy anime names, I'd like to give credit to this season's Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included for at least having a title that is short and creative, but still explains the premise. The show itself is a solid 'Meh' so far, and pretty much exactly what you'd expect, but good on them for at least going against current title trends.

I think I might actually give the worst title of the season to a short one this time rather than one of the long, stupid ones.

    Wind Breaker.

A show not about farting, or jackets, but about... completely non-magical fighting delinquents going to fighting school to fight... to protect their neighborhood from the yakuza and other REAL ne'er do wells. But some dudes have wind nicknames, and the school itself has a wind themed name, hence the title.

If we want the worst long title, it's a tossup between:

Reincarnated as an Aristocrat with the Appraisal Skill - I Inherited a Weak Kingdom, But By Nurturing the Most Gifted People It Became the Strongest Kingdom

Which is so long and awful and cliche that it tires me out just writing it. Or...

I, The Demon Lord, Took an Elf Slave as My Wife. Now How Should I Love Her?

Which is just up front with its grossness on top of being an irritating mouthful.

Another Biden W for the rail unions:
U.S. issues rule requiring at least two people on longest freight trains

The Biden administration on Tuesday required the largest freight railroads to operate their trains with at least two people on board, seeking to improve rail safety with a new mandate that immediately drew stiff industry opposition.

“Common sense tells us that large freight trains, some of which can be over three miles long, should have at least two crew members on board — and now there’s a federal regulation in place to ensure trains are safely staffed,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a statement. “This rule requiring safe train crew sizes is long overdue, and we are proud to deliver this change that will make workers, passengers, and communities safer.”

Spice & Wolf Remake/Reboot/Whatever has started and it seems like it's just gonna be a good time. Certain hints in the OP and framing story suggest we are going much further in the adaptation this time, which is interesting as the pace didn't feel any faster this time. There's no flash forward intro episode like FMA: B or completely different canon and art style like Trigun: Stampede, it's just Spicy Wolf (yes, I'll be calling it this from now on), again.

If you're unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, it's a fantasy/romance light novel adaptation (NOT an isekai, thank God) about a middling traveling merchant who falls into traveling with a transforming harvest wolf Goddess/person (during a medieval time period in a not-Europe style area). As they travel, they get into merchant hijinks and also relentlessly flirt and play word and mind games with each other. It is a pleasant change of pace to have a romance about 20 somethings (Holo presents as such, even though she's not) with jobs instead of dumb high school kids, for once. The original anime of this played back in 2009 in the States, and I don't plan to think about how long ago that was in precise numbers...

The AAR response to that is amazingly silly.

Gotta love when the actual objection is "we don't want to pay two people" but they know they can't say that out loud.

I thought two man crew was pretty much the standard currently? Not to say that heading off single man crew (which the railroads would love to do) isn't a good thing but I don't think this will change much at the moment.

That’s a great question! I am not a train policy dork, so not familiar with the exact why of this regulation. Consider the source, but these folks look like they’ve been lobbying for the change: https://www.fightfortwopersoncrews.com
Why is two person crew legislation needed?

Big railroad corporations are pushing to eliminate the second person in the cab of freight trains. These trains consist of hazmat and other dangerous materials. Despite the millions of dollars these companies make in profit, they are willing to risk the safety of your community and railroaders to make more. We are fighting to pass legislation to keep two people in the cab.

How many states have two person crew laws?

8 states currently have two person crew laws. Those states are California, Nevada, Washington, Arizona, Illinois, Colorado, Wisconsin and West Virginia. Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska and many other states have introduced legislation hoping to have future two person crew laws in the books.

This is heading off an emerging problem with patchwork legislation with national regulation. That’s a good thing!

    Also from their site:
Are there other legislative fights important to railroaders?

Railroaders are also currently fighting to shorten train lengths. An additional problem of corporate greed is the combining of trains. In order to lower operating costs, many rail carriers are making trains even longer. Some can be up to 3 miles long. The problem with this practice is that it makes for a more dangerous train that can have more issues along its route. Trains this long also have trouble fitting between crossings which leads to many more blocked crossings for longer periods of time. This is a safety problem for most emergency response situations.

There’s lobbying for additional regulation, which is also a good thing!

Train to the End of the World is... certainly a show.

Japan tries to launch 7G, a new wireless network connecting everybody telepathically, and accidentally unleashes a psychic nightmare that fucks up the entire world in completely random ways. This is the first two minutes. The rest of the episode is spent in a village where everybody turned into random still sentient animals who spend every five minutes explaining the premise on a loop. The loop part is not intentional. It's just like... they're worried that people aren't GETTING it, so keep explaining it over and over.

I just stopped watching it. Its massively boring and reeks of 5G conspiracy hysteria nonsense

I was a bit more forgiving than you two, I enjoyed the first episode. I'm interested to see where it goes. But I'm also very aware that it could just be weird to be weird, and have no actual plot, so I'm definitely ready to drop it at a moment's notice.

Apparently Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete sold about 3-5 times as many BDs in its release week as other new shows this season. Or about 8 times as many as CSM its first week. Of course, it sold about half as many as the latest JJK, but that's still pretty impressive. Also about 1/3 of that number is a collector's edition with a statue, which cost a ridiculous amount, and they've already announced a second batch of those.

Season two is inevitable at this point.

Sorry, was thinking how passenger trains run, where you have the option to walk the full length of the train, while it runs. Forgot that many cargo trains don't really allow for that at all.

Granted, feels like maybe we should be capping the length regardless. Not only are these long ass trains an increased hazard, they also tend to really fuck with communities they pass through.

Still if the requirement wasn't two people and now that's the bare minimum we can be happy that it's a win.

Especially since the corporations seem to be incandescent this is being imposed on them as small as it may be. Ill drink those tears.
