Tomoko and Asuka have basically been doing the "festival date" cliche, but it hasn't really been focused on. It's a bunch of different characters having their stories all over the school, and Tomoko and Asuka happen to pass by as they tour the festival together.

i really like the new delicious in dungeon ending honestly

it's still very cute but the vibes are a little more uh. tragicomic? which fits pretty well imo

the new opening is no bump of chicken for sure but i do enjoy the evil little jokes in it

Note that longer running stuff, like One Piece, Pretty Cure, etc, tends to rotate their openings/endings on a much longer scale, like once a year or so. It's not unusual for straight up chaos either, especially for EDs (eg Chainsaw Man).

The longer running stuff tends to change based on storylines rather than hard episode numbers. Also sometimes they'll slightly modify the OP and/or ED throughout the storyline, like say having a character be blacked out until they make an appearance in the show and then being shown normally afterwards.

Agreed. Which is why the European version had the whole “if they are valuable enough that them leaving would potentially be harmful for your business, you need to pay them for the non-compete time” which really forces the businesses to pick their battles.

Also JJK's best OP is OP4, fight me.

But JJK's weird in that their best song isn't an OP at all, but rather their first ED.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6riDJMI-Y8U

e: God, it's almost depressing watching that first ED. Remember when it had that character?

I don't think anyone would argue with you on either point, OP4 and ED1 are definitely the best, but I did enjoy the opening and ending for the Hidden Inventory arc a lot.

How did the Japanese get used to elves and dwarves in manga and anime? The two most enjoyable anime airing now have elves for main characters, creatures of Norse mythology. There had to be a source or a first appearance. A youtube video said D&D didn't catch on in Japan and while Record of Lodoss War was popular, it probably wasn't the first breakthrough.

If the novel 'Dracula' kickstarted the popularity of vampires in Japan, elves were kickstarted by .... ?

I forget the name of the manga, but there's one where it centers around a high school that's all about fighting and the protagonist is someone who got pressganged into being a teacher for said school, since he's actually a martial arts prodigy and also extreme scumbag, which is why his own dad fucked his body up a few years prior to depower him so he could learn humility.

That series eventually goes from the high school to a college, also centered around fighting, and I forget if the characters graduate or not before they head off to America for some secret fighting science tournament experiment thing.

    Aiki. And Aiki S.

I like the mangaka's style, but he's a bit weak at making non-h storylines.

I do really like the evolution of their dynamic where it used to be kind of awkward any time those two hung out, and their friends on both sides were kinda like, "Who's this new girl and what's up with the two of them suddenly hanging out?" There was definitely a bit of tension there of like, why you trying to steal my friend?

And then you compare that to now where they're just hanging out all day and everybody treats it as just a normal thing.

It's a kinda minor detail but a nice bit of writing, most series would just have a character spell it out.

Wizardry was definitely an early part of it, there was a general surge of interest in western fantasy tropes in the 80s, including other computer games and just plain old D&D.

It's normal for anime to change the OP and ED every cour, yeah. A cour is normally 12-13 episodes.

It's also normal for the originals to always be the best.

Trying to think of shows where later OPs are the best

Eureka Seven's second OP, Shonen Heart by Home Made Kazoku

Ranking of Kings' second OP, Hadaka no Yuusha by Vaundy

Naruto has a few great contenders but I vote for Haruka Kanata by AKFG (second OP)

FMA2004's second opening, Ready Steady Go! by L'arc En Ciel

Jujutsu Kaisen's second OP, Vivid Vice by Who-ya (notably, the same animation director for the opening as Hadaka no Yuusha!)

I'm sure there are others, but these all hit so solidly for me that they might as well be the theme song for their respective franchises

Also I am at work and on mobile so while I might edit in videos for their respective songs later, cutting and pasting them into the search bar should also work for now (I need to go do actually some stuff in a second here)

Off the top of my head:

    Trust You Forever - G Gundam OP2
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osNiHWo80vs

Rhythm Emotion - Gundam Wing OP2
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICOwBtm8L_s

Hakanaku mo Towa no Kanashi - Gundam 00 OP3
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJUMgALc4o4

Rage of Dust - Gundam IBO OP3
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz_nHGZutVU

In My World - Blue Exorcist OP2
    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Blue+Exorcist+OP+2

and of course, the classic aughts OP:

    D-Techno Life - Bleach
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1MoLQ9Wcv0

that one, somehow, is giving me the strongest dose of Nostalgia to the point i almost feel back when again.

EDIT: fixed G Gundam song title, thanks Reynolds! More tired than I thought I was (I actually made that mistake once searching, caught it, and then immediately made it again.

My friend was watching the anime, so I blazed through the manga to catch up and watch that arc with him. So that's just the only anime theme song, to me.

Also @Lanz you posted the second G Gundam OP, but used the name of the first OP. Which is absolutely the superior one.

So apparently, if you wanted to go see Gundam Seed Freedom in Brussels, per its scheduled showing this today, you were SOL because Bandai forgot to send the theatre the movie until it was too late to meet the screening time

    Okay so.

Bandai forgot to give the movie to Belgium.

I'm not kidding. They literally forgot to give them the movie. They got it twenty minutes ago and it takes 5 hours to download.

    So it won't air today.

Because they forgot to give them the movie.

    Bandai forgot. The movie.

Remembered my cats are home alone and I can't send anybody to go feed them, so we have to go back tonight

You ever spend a lot of money to go to a different country and see none of the country and just go back home? Yeah

An update for accuracy's sake: it's not all of Belgium, despite the phrasing of the cinema employee I talked to. It's specially Brussels.

A city I literally passed through on my train ride here? They got it.

I don't know what to say.
