What series is this?
I read the manga, and I don't remember anything explicit like SA. Maybe it's been a while, or an adaptation difference
If I'm remembering correctly they're referring to that part in the manga where
I was about to suggest Tsukimichi if this is what you like, but then I realized that Makoto is...complicated. Character spoilers below if you're at all interested.
He's still a good person at heart, but at the same time there's moments where he becomes one of the scariest people in the show.
I'm also very charmed by the ace/aro girl continuing to be front and center. She's just like yo I have the internet, I know what I am and I'm valid, and also all y'all worrying about who's dating who is stupid and I hate it, we could be having a perfectly nice time playing music and instead all this romance bs is making everyone miserable.
I'm shocked they're getting a whole season out of this arc, honestly.
I'm absolutely not.
Steam: pazython
It’s apparently only around 8 episodes. I like the first episode.
Deep Raputa, a new manga plus series, seems interesting.
It's about an AI that develops a crush on a human and grows exponentially to try to get closer to him.
This is almost as funny as that time 8 of the top 10 entries in ship poll were the different ships in Villainess
it's literally the first page of the new chapter! sheesh!
That somehow means it doesn't count as a spoiler?
I mean, yeah, I might argue that
You're really gonna argue that a page from the brand new chapter that people might not have gotten a chance to read doesn't constitute a spoiler?
Strange hill to die on. Go ahead, dig that grave.
siiiigh
I said I might argue that, it's absolutely not a hill I'm gonna die on.
Thanks for the pointer! That was a lot of fun, and I wish that I hadn't binged it just to hit the cliffhanger(ish) at the end of the latest chapter.
It sort of feels like Skip and Loafer more than Bocchi The Rock!, even though it's about music, something in the general vibes of the characters is like that.
(I also find the bass player reminds me vaguely of Kashima from Nozaki-Kun, though mostly visually, Kashima doesn't seem to be machiavellian in that way)
_I’m So Hungry I Could Eat Basashi_. It has a joke. It has made that joke, the joke was fine. Somehow, it's still going? I am very curious to see where this goes now they've made the joke, because perhaps now it's just a romcom in general? We'll see.
_Rugby Rumble_ I've mentioned before, but it's still doing a remarkable job of being a very polished sports manga with all the usual tropes and whatnot. Definitely "comfort food" sort of thing.
_Centuria_ is, so far, "what if Berserk and Vinland Saga were one comic instead of two". It's interesting, at least, I'm just curious to see how it'll keep things going.
_Navigatoria_ ("students compete to see who gets to be the emperor of a newly settled planet") has been running for a while now, it's a quick read, the art is pretty basic but the plot has been interesting enough and it's still moving along.
_Machi and Oboro_ is a slice-of-life comedy about roommates (but one of them is a ninja! but that doesn't actually matter as much as you might expect); only a few chapters so far, it feels like it's just going to be jokes, but that's okay.
Basic premise is that local Japanese guy is really into tokusatsu stuff and dies when he fends off someone with a knife from trying to kill a kid. He awakens in the body of a dude in a magical fantasy academy who has just lost a duel and shortly after his family's magic sword.
The Japanese guy figures out very quickly that the body he's in is someone who's hated throughout the academy for being an asshole, with the only exception being his younger "brother" who is the only person still by his side. The younger brother is also a bit of a magic tech nerd and gives him an old piece of technology that materializes magic armor over the wearer. Yep, he's got a Kamen Rider device now and of course he yells Henshin every time he dons it. He proceeds to start using the armor to live out his dream of being a hero, starting with rehabilitating the image of the body he's in.
However, he's not the only person who was isekai'd into that world. Turns out it's the world of a popular video game and there's several other reincarnated people who know all the ins and outs of said game and its many characters+routes. It's heavily implied they're all scumbags but we've only seen the one so far who is explicitly trying to make a harem and doesn't view the people as anything other than characters for his use.
It's still very early in the story, but it's basically setting up that the main conflict is going to involve the various reincarnated people who are "playing" the game suddenly having to deal with a character who is not only doing things outside the script and breaking entire "routes" without realizing it, but also shoving in a whole new genre as he expands his abilities all based on tokusatsu properties. The most recent chapter has him tapping into something called Violet Gekiranger, which is apparently more bestial in nature or something? I definitely don't know tokusatsu stuff well enough to spot all the references.
Gekiranger (a.k.a. Power Rangers Jungle Fury in the West) was a beast/martial arts themed Super Sentai entry, and Violet had a wolf motif.
I got it, but we’re on page 99, might as well make a new thread soon
oh yeah, also it's an AI that was originally developed for the military and might actually be in control of real-world weapons systems
