Ryoga's theme is fucking great
And let we forget, the real star of the show, the humble slide whistle.
I don't read a lot of em, but if I feel like an endless battle story I know exactly where to go.
The anime didn’t really have a proper ending, but the manga did if I recall. I assume the remake will more closely follow the manga.
Cherry in UY was also a problematic character, and they toned him back, so they'll probably do the same with Happosai.
We were just talking about how Shonen isn't a genre, it's a demographic.
Even if you could create a genre definition that would include both Ruri Dragon and Fullmetal Alchemist, the point would remain that Shonen isn't just about "endless battles".
So's akane-Banashi and Undead Unluck this week.
There's a new series but I'll be shocked if it lasts long. It is very whatever

awwww you might be right, that's kinda touching
Exposition is over! Back to the action!
Oda can't keep getting away with this!
I'm excited to find out how much the universe deletes Dr. Tofu this time.
I'm less excited to see Happousai at all.
As I remember it happosai is like, the main antagonist or a major supporting character for like 50% or more of the stories
"Stop saying sorry when you mean thank you" is a very good line too

It wouldn't surprise me to find out there are Happosai fans out there somewhere though. Some people are truly broken.
Not to mention some all-timer OP/EDs.
(Also a MASTERCLASS in phonetic lyric localization.)
And on the note of score, when was the last show that had memorable background music? Frieren, maybe?
It all seems to blur together as of late.
I mean, you also don't necessarily have to adapt the parts of him that sucked. That's what adaptations are for.
I'm pretty sure this was the first OP I ever saw in the original Japanese. Well, either this, or Get Along from the Slayers.

Granted there's ones that go the other way too, but anime studios totally do make adaptation choices.
Shangri-la Frontier has been pretty good even if it is one of those shows where the MC is one of the most leet gamers ever. Luckily the characters are actually entertaining enough and they avoided giving him a harem so it doesn't feel too self-indulgent.
So good recs all around. Thanks.
The fun bit is once the series digs into it, Sunraku really isn't. He's extremely, extremely good, but he also fucks up, makes weird decisions... and at least his skills are actually somewhat justified by him being a hyper-focused on terrible games werido who's had to get good. This an arc in the manga later that deals with professional gamers, and while Sunraku makes a (very) good showing in it, ultimately he's not able to triumph because he simply doesn't have the same mental fortitude, and "Plucky werido with unexpected stratergies" only goes so far. (Likewise, it get brought up that he tends to beat Kei/Oicazzo early in games they play, the win/loss ratio is about 7/3 in Kei's favor). He's got the potential to go pro, but not the personality for it (Yet! It may change).
And so far pretty much all of his big victories have been not only his extreme skills, but those of the people he's playing with (Psyger-0 is an absoloute monster in her own way, so is Pencilgon etc). Which really takes the edge of him being most leet gamer.

That's a shame, since it was interesting, and the art was sick. I hope the author gets another chance.
You have essentially just said "why not rebuild the monetization of your entire industry from scratch, forehead" here. Weirdly hostile and aggressive perverts do, for a fact, bring in a large portion of the money for this industry at the moment, so this "understanding" that you're talking about is counterfactual. In an industry with a completely different consumer base, Ranma 1/2 would likely not have been a mega hit, so saying the directors should appeal to fans who don't exist rather than the ones you don't like who do is... unwise? Unrealistic? Confusing? I dunno, man.
