You know, random stupid beastar question that I can't believe I didn't think about until now? Why are there dogs or chickens or what have you in Beastars' universe? I mean I know "why," it's because domesticated animals are really familiar and well liked by people but it's funny how it took me awhile before I thought about the weirdness of having domesticated animal analog people in Beastars' world. And don't tell me if on the off-chance it actually gets brought up at some point farther along than I've read.

The only manga I really keep up with on the regular is Watamote (I *may* have mentioned it before)

Other stuff I follow less closely:
March Comes in Like a Lion
    Kaguya-sama
Nettaigyo / A Tropical Fish Yearns for Snow
    Run Away With Me Girl
    Even Though We're Adults
    Virgins' Empire
    Living With My Brother's Wife

for a certain definition of "ongoing"
    Yotsuba
    Berserk
    Otoyomegatari / A Bride's Tale

I recommend Victory Gundam if you just really wanna get real depressed.

And also enjoy space helicopters, space motorcycles, giant space tires and giant battleship motorcycles.

There's also a very cute dog that wears a spacesuit!

It's amazing how refreshingly real Reina and Kumiko's relationship feels. No pandering, just distinct chemistry, right down to how differently they address each other when alone.

Yeah there's a little detail in the first episode of the second season where when they're with their other friends and they're all sitting close-but-not-touching to each other. And then later there's scenes of them alone together and now Reina and Kumiko are sitting closer, with no room between them. Like their body language gets noticeably more intimate as soon as they're not around people they know. (but then after 201 Yamada went off to do one of her movies and the gayness mostly all disappears).

I randomly wandered across a post about this today and the body language thing is even more obvious than I remembered it being.

I think the reason I can't really get into Eizouken is the entire time I'm basically thinking I'd rather just be watch Shirobako. Or Bakuman. Or hell even a sister is all you need which was way better written than it had any right to be.

The cool art choices and the fantasy stuff is interesting but the rest doesn't really capture my attention.

So apparently there's a 4th Tenchi muyo OAV that I completely missed and I cant find it in english at all. This isnt helped at all by Funimations idiotic naming of the different parts

    So yay for that

Yeah, I just noticed the new series after watching Eizouken and it felt liked I missed at least one ova series.

Tenchi has a step-mom! And a baby brother! And What The Hell
    Five year timeskip mid episode!

A bunch of characters I don't recognize talking about stuff I don't understand.

The last ova series I remember seeing was the one with Mihoshi's family trying to track her down because they thought Tenchi was holding her against her will. Years and years ago. I need to catch up somehow.

At least they are keeping the instrumental openings for the Ryo-Oki! Series tradition.

Edit: I miss-remembered. The second ova series had an intro with lyrics, and the third was instrumental. I assume the fourth had lyrics.

    *this is a lie
    **that haven't been mentioned yet

    Ongoing manga:

    Berserk
Wrong way to use healing magic
    Monsters Can't Clean

There's several more I at this point read out of habit, but those three are the ones I'm looking forwards to updates of.

You read a lot of excellent romantic comedies!

Try the Cuckoo's Fiance, by the same author of Yamada and the 7 witches, as well as Flunk punk rumble.

Separate from that, I read most of what's going on in Jump, save Sports stuff.

I'm reading Cuckoo's Fiance but wasn't sure if I was going to put it on my list of favorites yet since it's only a few chapters in. I have been enjoying it though, and I like Seven Witches. I haven't heard of Flunk Punk Rumble but will take a look.

Edit: Oh, Flunk Punk Rumble is Yankee-kun to Megane-chan. I've read the first bit of that and plan to finish it. I'm also a bit of an easy mark for "seemingly nice and timid girl is secretly an ultra-strong ex-yankee that's now trying to be a normal girl" (ie. see Fire-Hot Aunt).
the first one that comes to mind is Delicious in Dungeon AKA Dungeon Meshi
    also keeping up with Watamote

I've only read the first volume of Delicious in Dungeon so I don't think I've gotten to where it gets good yet, but plan to continue it due to how well people here seem to like it.

Hey a new tenchi series just popped up on crunchyroll

Seems like its a prequel to Geminar? I think Ive missed one series though

If it's the 4th OVA it's kinda weird how it fits in the timeline.
It seems to take place after Tenchi Muyo GXP with Seina already engaged to his multiple wives and post tenchi ascending and descending to and from godhood at the end of the 3rd OVA. It's basically "Jurai Politics - The Series" and references a bunch of things in the manga that are so esoteric the sub-titlers had to add multiple footnotes in the translation subtitles to reference what they're talking about. If you're watching directly after OVA 3 and never read the manga so much of it doesn't make any sense. It apparently sets up Tenchi's dad getting married and having a new kid - Kenshi who is being prepped to be sent to Geminar which I guess sets up the War on Geminar series? Also the village that Tenchi grew up in is basically a remote "boarding" location for Jurai descendants to grow up on earth before moving back to Jurai to resume their lives as Juraiin royalty or something.

The story also goes into Seto's assistant Minaho who's ALSO apparently got the hots for Tenchi and begins independently trying to go after him as well. So yeah, I'd say it's about 50-60% political back and forth about Tenchi's future and his dad's new kid getting sent over to Geminar with a bunch of small slice of life stuff that wraps up some tiny threads from previous Tenchi OVA episodes and GXP.

Again, it's pretty convoluted if you haven't read all the accompanying manga for Tench Muyo Proper. I was lost most of the time to be honest.

My wife's away so I was catching up on some of the anime on my watchlist that she wasn't interested in.

I just finished the first season of Overlord and I've got some mixed feelings.

Since he didn't get isekai'd the traditional way via truck-kun, I can't help but wonder what's going on with his body back in the real world, and the show doesn't seem interested in answering the particular question. At least not anytime soon. I assume the MMO must be some kind of VR thing and he wasn't playing on a computer screen or else he would have had a much bigger reaction to the transition than he did (though even then, he didn't comment on any graphical improvement so I have to wonder if the game was already photorealistic or everything still looks like game graphics to him? He was surprised at the NPC's mouth moving and later commented on the how great the night sky looked, but otherwise hasn't talked much about this).

Next, I fucking hate that green light that "corrects" him whenever he acts out of character. He can already barely emote due to being a skelly-man, so stop forcing him to act like an emotionless lich if you don't want him to be a boring protagonist. I don't know if something comes up later, but this light seemed really unnecessary so far and it's function could have been covered in a much less annoying way if it was just him trying to stay in character to save face in front of his minions, instead of a magic glow outright forcing it.

Also the second arc suddenly threw darker than I expected.
Three of the people he was traveling with get murdered and turned into zombies, a fourth is kidnapped and blinded & mind-wiped so he can be forced to raise a zombie army against his will, and the final one is horribly tortured to death while simultaneously revealing that she was a woman in disguise and that she was in the party because she wanted to rescue her sister who'd been sold to slavery. Then the person responsible is slowly and tortuously crushed to death while screaming the whole way.

I did some googling to see if the woman who was looking to save her sister would get resurrected, since Ainz already established back in the first arc that he could both resurrect people and alter memories, and so it wouldn't be a problem to revive her (since she wasn't turned into a zombie like the others, which could potentially complicate reviving them). Unfortunately google just lead to "fans" of the series attacking anyone commenting on this because this is a "dark and edgy world" and "Ainz is a soulless warlord who's out to conquer the world and doesn't care about anyone" and "if it's too edgy for you, go to another series." I can't speak for later in the series, but so far those comments seemed laughable since Ainz's only real goals so far has been to find other players and take care of the NPCs that his friends created. And as for the tone, I think these people are forgetting that one of Ainz's more prominent companions is a giant hamster, and one of Ainz's spells is literally a Sharknado.
