As I understand it the story in 1-3 is the 3 goddess sisters have been trying to see if there's a being above them. Most of the series was them fucking with the universe to make it appear

Tokimi just flat out did whatever she wanted using proxies like Clay and her end result was Z
Washu became mortal and attempted to learn everything placing her god powers in the 3 gems that power Ryoko
Tsunami founded Jurai and sort of stopped looking.

Then it turned out it all worked because Tenchi was that being.

Past that theres dozens of jaoam only novels that add to the canon that will likely never be translated. I can see why Funimation didnt bother with 4 or 5

Ah ok that puts it into an easier to understand context. I couldn't figure out what the heck Z was trying to accomplish by killing tenchi, but I guess them trying to find out who their "god" is is as good a reason as any. What the heck was the deal with Tsunami's psychotic "mother"? That kind of came out of left field and I couldn't figure out what purpose she had at that scene beyond adding a bunch of extra tension that god-tenchi somehow whisked away.

I preferred when Tokimi was just the big bad.

the only characters that aren't completely abysmal at this point are butler man and giant armor bug dude

the rest of the show is just trying way too hard to seem like it's badass and just comes out terrible and cruel

Did they kill off the giant hamster or did he somehow turn into an edgelord covered in scars and leather?
    Whippy wrote: »
might I suggest instead: isekai quartet

I actually started watching Overlord so as to have more context when I watch Isekai Quartet since currently I only know of Konosuba from that show.

the hamster literally explodes a dudes head in a duel

If you read manga, there's one which have similar premise with Overlord called Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta!
    I like it more.

    Wiki:
Kakushigoto: My Dad's Secret Ambition (Japanese: かくしごと, Hepburn: Kakushigoto, lit. "Secret") is a Japanese comedy manga series by Kōji Kumeta. It has been serialized in Kodansha's shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Magazine since December 2015, and has been collected in ten tankōbon volumes.[1] An anime television series adaptation by Ajia-do Animation Works is set to premiere on April 2, 2020.

Kōji Kumeta (久米田 康治, Kumeta Kōji, born September 5, 1967) is a Japanese gag manga artist. His most famous works are Go!! Southern Ice Hockey Club, Katte ni Kaizō, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, and Joshiraku. The bulk of Kumeta's work was published in Weekly Shōnen Sunday, until the abrupt cancellation of Katte ni Kaizō, which resulted in him transferring from Shogakukan to Kodansha. As of 2014, he has gone freelance. Two of Kumeta's latest serializations include Sekkachi Hakushaku to Jikan Dorobō, published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine from November 2013 to January 2015, and Nankuru Neesan (art by Yasu), published in Kodansha's Young Magazine the 3rd from February 2016 to February 2019. He is currently serializing Studio Pulp for Rakuen Le Paradis of Hakusensha and Kakushigoto in Monthly Shōnen Magazine.

On sports anime, I saw Slam Dunk, which was amazing, Captain Tsubasa like everybody else outside the US (seriously, it and Saint Seiya are Dragonball-tier outside the US and Captain Tsubasa is counted as one of the inspirations for many pro soccer players) and Dear Boys because....it was on Animax.

Oh, and much later, One Outs, that is basically Akagi, baseball version.

Oh, on the list of manga I follow, I forgot:

I Love Cinema, I am Lonely

It's vaguely yuri-ish but really it's mostly about two roommates arguing about pop culture and the joy of nerding out over shit

In the most recent chapter their otaku friend convinced them to watch Eva and they got very invested

I hadn't heard of this one, but just checked it out and have been enjoying it. I'm up to chapter 3 now.

With everyone listing the manga they were reading I decided I could use something new to read, and ended up checking out March Comes Like a Lion.
I did like it, it felt like a pretty real depiction of depression and issues socializing, and the process of getting better at dealing with them and making connections. But the way the story has reoriented itself to be a lot more romance focused in the back half is a lot less interesting to me.

I kind of miss 90s-style next episode previews, they don't do those very much anymore except in legacy shows from back in that era like one piece or dragon ball super. At least in the shows I usually check out. Or maybe I'm just skipping them because I usually skip the credits when streaming because I'm binge watching? Hmm.

I finished volume 7 of Fire-Hot Aunt (still ugh at that title), and it's still good but still has the issue where the top and bottoms of pages are slightly cut off. I guess they had very little Q&A at Akita Publishing or whoever was responsible for uploading these.

Chapter 28 had some surprising cameos though.
The characters visited a part of town that had a lot of manga and anime stuff, particularly Galaxy Express 999 as the author lived around there. Lots of Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock stuff shown off (and plugging the recent CG Captain Harlock movie twice). Then the main two characters ended up cosplaying as Maetel and Captain Harlock.

Then during the fight that always breaks out every chapter, Reiji Matsumoto himself shows up to help. When one of the characters is explaining who he is, she also namedrops the author of Fire-Hot Aunt saying he is a big fan of Matsumoto's.

After the fight, Matsumoto signs autographs for the characters, and one page shows his autograph with a note that this was his actual autograph that he signed directly on the manga's manuscript. After the chapter was an interview with Matsumoto.

Gundam Narrative (dub/subs) is going on up Gundam.Info's youtube channel

Saw it last year, I thought it was okay if you had already seen Unicorn and was familiar with UC Gundam stuff but it's not a good stand-alone film at all.
