Good show. Lots of cute girls doing cute things with an actual plot and character development.
Shamiko is also an Inhuman Anime Girl Noises All-Star
Pretty much all of Reigen's special moves were great. I also just love how much of a contradictory character he is interesting ways.
Hidive has VOTOMS, granted that’s not free.
Steam
I love how his entire character seems at odds with the expectations of him yet it still all works together and makes for a very entertaining mentor.
Used to be on Hulu years ago, and now it's nowhere

it's still the best GITS
People's bodies are a really big deal in Beastars. Virtually every character suffers some amount of some sort of bodily dysphoria, or stress related to their bodies, and the stressors are shown as coming both internally and externally. Character designs in the series, which are universally great by the way, are not taken for granted by the story. They speak volumes about a character at a glance. Why? Because it shows us as an audience how the rest of society generally sees said person, what that character has to a live with, or fight against, or work around. Discrimination is rampant and ever present in the world of Beastars despite token societal agreements to treat everyone fairly. Much like in our world, every person in Beastars is constantly judged by their sex, gender, perceived masculine/feminine characteristics, general societal attractiveness, general societal perceived, social acumen, and perceived class status. A lot of pieces of media seem content to just point out this prejudice, show it's morally wrong and dangerous through simple use of characters the audience is likely to empathize with, and leave it at that. And there's nothing wrong with a simple moral tale about the harm of discrimination, or a simple empathetic tale about what it is like to live with discrimination. Beastars, though, in between its wild plot rollercoaster of gang violence, superhero horses, and naked seals has a real authentic interest, and experience, with how and why discrimination works. Both on an extrinsic interpersonal societal level, and on an intrinsic psychological level. (For both perpetrators and victims of persecution, and how that line is often blurry.)
That being said, typing this all out I've kind of realized that going through all my thoughts about what I think Beastars' thoughts are on the intersection between a person's sense of self, their body, and society is gonna take way too many words for one post. So in the interest of my sanity, readability, and to better organize my thoughts I've decided that this is just going to be essentially a loose introduction. I'll try to break the rest of my thoughts into separate posts with theming likely to be loosely as follows.
1. What Beastars has to say about masculinity: male sexuality, male privilege, physical disparities in size and strength between individuals, etc.
2. What Beastars has to say about femininity: female sexuality, infantilization and fetishization of women, women's bodily autonomy women being invisible in the workplace and in romantic relationships.
3. What Beastars has to say about how society addresses discourse about psychological, physiological, and sexual issues and how that naturally leads to certain behaviors and outcomes.
4. What Beastars has to say about how societies treat individuals born with mental disorders, physical conditions, or who have suffered disfiguring injuries which otherwise leads to it being either difficult or impossible to conform to a societal standard.
5. What Beastars has to say about racism and the ideas of biological determinism and existentialism when applied on a macro level beyond a internal or individual to individual scale.
I'm not going to explicity say anything about Beastars depiction of class except maybe when it intersects with one of the above topics, mainly because while I don't dislike its take on class I don't feel it's particularly unique. Expect more posts about this... eventually!

"Some" being the operative word here.
it's rather good
hope we get a season 2 soon, might start reading the manga before then
the first episode starts out with some very Ikuhara-esque visuals, which is very interesting
I have now completed Machikado Mazoku.
Yes, this was good. It was light and fluffy and silly and fun. Good suggestion
Anyone have any suggestions for something else I should watch that's got a similar vibe?
